this next fish was not much to write home about, so she removed it from the hook and tossed it back to the water. after, she cast her line back out and secured the rod to a corner of the boat before fetching the lunch cooler. two BLTs were pulled from it, one handed over to delta.

before sagira could take a bite, there was a bend in her rod. she set the sandwich down and jumped up to reel in whatever was at the end of it.

was virizion smiling? sagira watched on in awe. to receive a blessing from such a being was not something she was going to step in the way of, regardless of any potential danger. her daughter, noticed by a grass god of justice? she must have done something right after all.

”thank you, virizion.”

delta didn’t protest as she was lifted onto virizion’s back. small hands curled lightly into fur. she made eye contact with no one, focused through the center of her mount’s horns as if trying to will her forward with the power of thought alone. a silent look of determination was plastered on her face as usual.

were they going anywhere, or was this it? inwardly, sagira prayed her daughter wouldn’t fall off. the last thing she wanted was a trip to the hospital and virizion’s disappointment.

another massive water-type. this time, a horsea. delta was captivated by it as sage made quick work of collecting it. they'd save this one for the weighing.

once the horsea was dealt with, they both cast out their lines again. soon enough, something else was biting...

another strange stone, but not the kind she was looking for. she put her find away for further inspection later, and kept swimming.

soon enough, something else caught her eye, and she descended towards it to uncover it from the sand.

this was rough. how was she doing this badly? she'd been an athlete her whole life, and there were kids doing a better job.

she wasn't catching the same surfing bug as some of the other people her. instead, she figured mantine surfing might not be her thing after all. still, she wasn't going to call it quits this late in the game.

after the sharpedo was taken care of, they reeled in a basculin. it much less intimidating in both size and species, so she decided to let it go.

"good job," she commended delta.

giant boat-eating shark.

sagira leapt to action, yanking her daughter away from the side of the boat by the shirt before slipping behind the wheel. giving it as much gas as she could, they started speeding off. sage knew the shark wasn't going to give up, though. she had it.

"delta. steer the boat!"

as it pursued them, she began her attack, eventually throwing a pokeball. then, when the water settled, it was onto the next catch.

she wasn't great at this. oh, well. it was still fun. delta seemed to be enjoying herself as she rode around closer to the shore, so sage stayed and kept trying.

they went up the wave again for another attempt at the starmie 720.

the passimian was the first to run over and grab the pokeball. then, when sage had pried it from its paw, she decided to throw it at the dunk tank target instead of giving it back.

no luck on the splash. deciding it was getting close enough to the end to try and complete some of the other challenges, she opted for a starmie 720. into the air the mantine flew, flipping a couple of times before sage attempted to do the last flip herself. could she get this one?

another pearl. sage had not been expecting to come upon this much money diving at the festival, but she wasn't complaining. with raised eyebrows, she put the pearl away and kept swimming after her daughter.
