The mention of a party for New Year’s is enough, and he’s already gotten a couple interesting invites. But when he realized that the invite was from Melody Miro herself? He didn’t think they’d talked since the mess at the Soiree. Not that he could’ve gotten anything very coherent out of her after it. She’d been on edge, beyond flustered. And the stuff he’d seen? Over the past few months, he often returned to the visions with Melody and slowly but surely deciphered some meaning. He just….couldn’t tell how much of it was a dream or a memory. He jumped at the chance to visit her, hoping to check in. [break][break]

“Churra! Thanks for the invite!” the blonde called out, waving to the gym leader as he walked through her spacious home. He kissed her on both cheeks before holding up a present bag stuffed with a few heavy bottles. “I brought you, like, 3 bottles of pisco. In exchange, introduce me to your hot dancer friends.” He said as he flashed a grin before giving the pinkette a quick hug. “How’ve you been? No ne word answers.” He asked as he dropped his arms to his side and watched for the arriving guests.

As he’s waiting to perhaps meet his maker, unsure if he could get out of this or not, another pokemon joined the fray. A little Golett began wobbling up to the encroaching group of ghost pokemon that were almost upon him. “T-There’s more of them?” He wasn’t sure where this one had from, but he’s increasingly alarms at the extensive use of force this was over one little snowball. A hard, snowball throw but still just a snowball. Chuchi barked as the pre-evolution wobbled over. [break][break]

For his part, a lone Eiscue wandered nearby. He only noticed one the ice type got into his peripheral. The ice type seemed curious of him and his situation before wandering back away from the imminent danger.

“Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to the14th annual Devon Corp Childhood Charity Fundraiser!” the MC announced over the quieting of a live band in one corner to the gigantic ballroom. The entire space was decked out in beautiful, intricate Christmas decorations. Strings of lights hung from the ceiling twinkle gently to imitate a starry night sky. Large swatch of white cotton had been piled into the corners to give the appearance of shoveled snow. An entire battalion of waiters and waitresses moved with grace and ease throughout the giant party room delivering drinks and finger foods to the rich and elite. A large stage at one end of the room was light up and decorated with wreaths and ribbons and tinsel. [break][break]

A perfect Winter wonderland, but like, temperature controlled. “We thank you all for making time this holiday season to join us. As you know, every winter Devon Corp tries to…” Behind the party, backstage as it were, groups of paid volunteers rushed to and from setting up and triple checking the list of merchandise ready to be wheeled out in front of the millionaires. Andres made use of his muscle, moving back and forth heaving displays and setting them carefully on top of carts for each reindeer or Santa to cart it out before the crowd and back. It’s lousy work, and Andres is already working up a sweat. Thankfully, it’s easy enough to cool down. The Santa suit he’d been given didn’t come with a beard or a shirt. At the very least, they’d given him pants. He couldn’t say the same for the more feminine volunteers who were stuck baring their legs for the investors to see. But it was all for the kids and if enticing pervy businessmen to open their wallets with hot models was the way to do it then so be it. [break][break]

That being said, he is relieved their fates aren’t like those of the Stone sisters. As the MC announced, “And finally, form the Stone Family themselves, to show their commitment to the children, the Stone Family has decided to donate not just their money, but their time as well.” The space suddenly cleared as the guests of honor moved onto the stage dressed to the nines in something Andres could tell would have taken him 10 lifetimes to pay back. “Our final auctioned prizes of the night, and evening with ANA STONE , DAPHNE STONE , and Emma Stone!” The applause is a little more intense as the three women stepped down from the stage and took seats nearby. Then the stage manager is snapping his fingers again and Andres began moving into position, ready to cart out the first item of the night.

“Well, at least it’s easy money, right, boni-Luka!?” He stumble over his words recognizing a familiar pinkette taking up her position next to him as his partner in presenting the first bidding option.

The man he’d smacked into looked irritated, that much was obvious, and Andres smiled nervously until he revealed he was also a victim. Perfect, in the clear! “That’s good- I was rushing-” That was also obvious. Despite his urgency he matched pace with Salem and offered a friendly grin. “Since we’re both tracking the little shit, we should team up.” He suggested as they rounded another corner. His eyes turn back to the battlefield that was the clearance section, or rather at this point, the clearance floor. Dozens of customers all distracted and inattentive. All unaware as he watched a Weavile dip in and out tugging things out of pockets and carts and baskets with no rhyme or reason at all. “Haven’t figured out why it’s doing this. It’s just been grabbing random stuff the entire time.” He explained before nodding over at Salem. “We could pincer it.” He added looking at Salem for approval.

Andres hadn’t planned to be at the visitor center tonight. He usually reserved his evenings for himself and hanging out around town or just simple errands. But when one of their volunteers form the school fell ill…well…he’d been asked to sub in. The faculty member that had asked him had been pretty cute, and he’d eyed the young man once or twice since they’d started but didn’t quite see them around often enough to try to ask them out. After this though, perhaps he should. At least that was he could stop accepting volunteering gigs. [break][break]

Despite not really wanting to be there, he smiled broadly as he handed out dixie cups fill with hot chocolate and marshmallows. He’d passed cup after cup for an hour or two now, and by then its not hard to notice the pinkette hovering around the same table as him. At first, he’d been a little spooked at the thought of luka chêne being here but then realized it was a different girl entirely. She lacked that effortless cheer Luka usually carried, preferring something more uninterested and maybe a little serious. [break][break]

He’s bored, he thought as he slid his hand into hers after she picked up a cup of hot cocoa and grinned. “Don’t mind if I do, chiquilla. Thank you for taking care of me~” he said as he carefully pulled the cup away and blew on the top so he could keep it from scalding him. “When’s your break? You look like you could use a pick me up.” He added with a wink.

Chuchi had been itching for more regular exercise. Maybe not a gym challenge per se, but at the very least some kind of battle. After a lot of prodding and biting, Andres had agreed setting her up for the soonest battle that was open at the place. A notification popped up to let him know someone was ready for them. Chuchi yipped excitedly bounding ahead of him as he searched for their designated arena. [break][break]

“Hey, chulo!” he called out as he and his partner stepped into the field. Chuchi crouched as she and her trainer took their positions at one end of the pitch. “I’m Andres! Tha’s Chuchi over there! Good to meet you.” He said as the obese Eevee barked, tail wagging furiously as she stretched for the battle. Not that she hadn’t already done so but just one more to seal the deal. She barked twice, letting Andres know she was ready before he relayed, “She’s going first!” With that Chuchi let out a yawn that made her look sickeningly adorable as she pumped up the CHARM for the nonexistent crowd. Maybe its strange but Andres didn’t have an issue…more or less pretending to be with someone. It wasn’t malicious or anything. He dind’t try to lie or trick people. He could just very easily be sweet to someone, no strings attached. And really, that only worked because it’s what he’d wanted for himself years ago. Maybe not everyone liked that, but he did. Also, he had grown out of that whole ‘fuck with your crush’ phase he’d entered back in his earlier high school days. When you were trying to seduce someone, you want it to be nice you know? So, when it came to strangers, it’s not hard to imagine, to pretend he’s been with them and to feel comfortable around them. Artemis’ could blush or fluster but Andres’ tolerance for that level of awkward was pretty high. [break][break]

Until you brought up a past, he’d rather not recall. He blinked slowly, caught off guard. “O-oh?” He tried to play it cool, figure out what he would do. Lie? Say it wasn’t him? No, he had already confirmed Chuchi and, well, Chuchi was one of a kind. And yet despite not wanting to remember his worse years, he took a moment to take Artemis’ hand and gently spin him around on the spot, looking him over and then staring at his face. “Let me get a second opinion.” He said feeling his brain itch. He tapped a pokeball to his side before a fat Eevee materialized form a beam of light. She shook her pelt, fat rolls shaking as she did before looking up at Andres and then at the other twink. “Chuchi, te acuerdas? He knows you.” [break][break]

The normal type took pause, sniffing at the model’s shoes before gently putting a paw and staring up at Andres. Target Sighted. She barked once and Andres laughed nervously. “Y-Yup! There it is.” The memory is still foggy but as he tried to think back on it…Artemis was a model. “Was it…is Galar? Maybe…?” He asked almost grimacing through his smile as he remember that region. Yes, it had been a lot of good opportunities, and yes, it had been a lot of fun to get paid to do mundane things for doing well in a pokemon tournament. But the other 80% of his time there? Actual shit. Him anyway. Shy, nerdy, bowlcut ass Andres. A target off the pitch.

Before Andres can even make it to his mischievous partner and illeana reyes , many things began to happen at once. Chuchi, at the ankles of the silver-haired woman stared at him with dead fisheyes and what he could only assume was a smug smile. Her tail was wagging so fast it looked like she was trying to pack in the snow behind her. She doesn’t look pissed, but Andres had fucked with many a woman. He could feel the change in the air. Not to mention the group of Golurk that booped and groaned ominously in his general direction. As she moved forward Chuchi hopped next to her, excited to watch Andres squirm his way out of this one. There’s a path on his shoulder and Andres barely saw @artemis making a run for it after wishing his best of luck surviving. Fuuuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck. The Golurk lumbered forward, and he pretended to make a snow angel to he them to go somewhere else. They don’t and as they get closer, the panic of potentially getting squished by 4 angry ghost types prevails and he popped back up to his feet. “H-Heeey- Ah-” Do not fuck this up. Turn the charm ON! Hurry! Hurry! Stupid charm was all he had to begin with!! “I- uh- I’m sorry señorita! It’s just you-” DO NOT FUCK THIS UP ANDRES- [break][break]

“You looked familiar! Maybe it’s cause you’re the girl of my dreams?!” In any other occasional this would’ve sounded better. He was corny, but he would go all in for it. Now? Now his confidence was shaken. He was nervous under the judgement gaze of 4 angry looking ghost types looming over them almost guarding their trainer. And Chuchi? Chuchi stared up at him form Illeana’s feet pleased as punch.

“Copycat, Chuchi!” Maybe he should bring out Chuchi more on his morning runs, he thought as she flailed her paws in the air before rolling on her side to stand and face the Buneary. It’s not a fast enough though as the rabbit pokemon was already zipping her way towards the Eevee. She landed her hit, Chuchi’s side jiggling from impact. There’s a soft glow at the tip of Chuchi’s nose before it spread down to her feet and in an instant Chuchi is moving in on her opponent with the same Quick Attack from just moments ago. “You are rusty, huh?” the blonde called out to his partner who snarled at him in irritation before setting sights back on their opponents. As he did, he watched Melody get pulled down into the ground before the same happened to him. He drifted into water panicking as he realized what was going on. For a moment its pitch black in the water before light form somewhere started to tinge the scene. Andres nevertheless directed Chuchi to follow the pink of Melody’s hair. “I’m coming Melody, you’re gonna be ok!” he screamed, despite being under water and the slight warbling of his voice in liquid. He kicked as fast as he could, Chuchi doggy paddling towards the gym leader as they tried to grab her. “C’mon! I’ve got you!” Andres shouted as he reached for the poor girl’s hand while the purple water type clung to the popstar. “Body slam Chuchi!” he ordered before realizing Melody looked like she was choking. In turn, he began to feel a strange suffocation in his throat. The Eevee obliged moving to slam shadow Emma off their new friend. Andres’ fingers brush against Melody’s and he lunged forward clasping one of his hands in her before tightening down like a vice and pulling her towards him shadows beasties and all. [break][break]

He heard the thud, his attention momentarily moving away from Melody’s eyes to their surroundings. Cracks were beginning to spiderweb slightly around them and small rays of light seemed to be peaking through. He looked back to his friend nodding at her to keep up, whatever she was doing. He was seemingly convinced the weird noises were all her.
