[break][break] she does cringe a little at the formalties. it would be one thing if she'd been called sergeant, because that was something that she was used to. but this wasn't kanto, and she doubted that the other was in the military.

[break][break] "you can call me callie," she said, with a wave of her hand. the officer takes a glance out at the crowd around them, almost as if to sus out any suspecting individuals. "you see anything?"

she snorts. "you should see him during shedding season. he's a mess."

[break][break] plenty of people like to adopt dog pokemon, but few ever really talk about the pain in the ass they are during shedding season. he makes her apartment look like a blizzard with the way that he can shed in the spring sometimes, if he isn't groomed properly.

[break][break] "but he was really cute as a puppy. here." reaching into her phone, she shows him her phone background which is a picture of an adorable rockruff puppy with a piece of cheese slapped onto it's face, making the most hilarious confused expression.

[break][break] at his words, though, she smirks. "because i didn't give it to you." she pauses, just long enough to make it awkward, before laughing lightly. "you can call me callie. all my friends do."

a laugh bubbles to her lips.

[break][break] though things are casual between them now, because they're friends, callie's more than well-aware of the rank that he holds over her. much like paxton concordas, she was sure that lieutenant greyson would not fail to execute a reprimand should the situation allow for it.

[break][break] "hmm. what do you think it is?" she hums in thought. it wasn't unusual for a pack of mightyena to stay together, but certainly it probably caused some unrest among the civilians. especially hoyeons who may not have been used to such things — it made her wonder what simple concerns were on hoenn, if a pack of pups was the least of their worries.

[break][break] then again, there was that meteor.

[break][break] "what do you —" her words are cut off as the electric mouse leaps to her shoulder, and she blinks with surprise for a moment before laughing. "no worries. you should've seen skoll when he was a pup — now he was a handful."

[break][break] up ahead, the lycanroc pauses in his search as if hearing his trainer speak ill of him. he gives a small whine, as if to complain, and she waves him off.

[break][break] "but he's good now."

[break][break] the fondness in her voice is unparalleled.

[break][break] or more like - skoll had smelled something delectable and delicious, and was whining at her ankles until she let him go. she gave him a quick glance, a slight nod, and the canine was off. callie followed a bit more slowly, looking back at DANNY HALL to see if he'd follow.

[attr="class","callie2"] fate was a funny thing. when callie signed up for work that day, she hadn't expected to detective work - it was certainly different than the type of work she was used to - and even less did she expect to see someone she recognized. though, it wasn't an unwelcome sight.

[break][break] she smiles. "i didn't think i'd see you here today. are you on assignment too?"

[break][break] a bark beside her notes skoll's presence too. the lycanroc wags her tail beside her trainer.

[break][break] either way, callie's never one to turn down a free treat. especially now that she's technically retired, and that her first paycheck hasn't come in yet. she steps out of the line, waiting, until the other returns with the free treat — her eyes light up a little at the sight. her stomach grumbles.

[break][break] "why thank you," she says, taking it from his hand and immediately taking a bite out of the center. the caramel cracks around her teeth, and she licks her lips of the sweetness. she glances at him.

the boy in front of her is like the many others in the faire, all dressed up in ridiculous garb, so callie doesn't think twice about it. what she does, however, think twice about is the way that he spins around to meet her, reminding her of skoll when she buys a treat.

she had a day off. it felt strange.

[break][break] kanto had never given her days off, though perhaps that had made sense. they were in the middle of a war after all; any days off would've likely ended up in civilian casualties, if not worse. or perhaps, maybe her commander had been too cut-throat and ruthless. but now paxton concordas was tired and depressed and in need of a very good cup of coffee.

[break][break] 'take off the rest of the day,' he'd said to her, after she'd returned in her report.

[break][break] she'd stared at him like he'd had four heads, but she was shoved out of his office before he could say anything else.

[break][break] callie stared at the bustling crowds around her, wandering around the streets of fortree's city renfaire. she was in civilian's gear, meaning a camisole and leggings. it felt unusual, considering she usually spent her time with more on her. that being said, she was supposed to be relaxing and on her day off.

[break][break] she is standing behind a booth that's selling caramel apples, and then glances up when the vendor calls the next person forward. unfortunately, she's not the next person. he is.
