Toni does little to acknowledge the lingering gaze, perhaps even playing it off as if she doesn’t. It’s only the subtle pull of the corner of her pink lips that shows her satisfaction. Again, she settles into it comfortably. A soft gaze turns back towards him as he wades closer.

However brief it may be, her own gaze linger for a bit longer than it should. A combination of actions and words has her intrigued, ”Hm, perhaps you’re right,” her body shifts, partially facing him as he settles down beside her. Her eyes feign innocence and curiosity, but there’s a unmistakable hint of mischief in the way she smiles, “Am I in the right place, Remiel?”

Toni appreciates the eloquent way in which he speaks. It’s a very welcome and familiar change. She much prefers to keep company like Remiel’s, but her line of work doesn’t always allow for that. Her taste in men, however, has always been questionable unlike her taste in women which is flawless.

“Clearly I have,” she agrees with a sigh. Her back arches, lifting her chest out of the water for a brief moment to stretch before she settles comfortably back below the foggy surface, “It really is a shame,” she shakes her head lightly, “Perhaps I’m not looking in the right places,” she is new to Hoenn, after all.

It’s rare to receive a personal call form her father. It’s her mother that keeps them all connected on a family-level. Of course, it was busines related, not a single inquiry on her well-being in a foreign region with very few connections. Normally, their business with clients is dealt with remotely. It’s another are occurrence to allow an in-person meeting. These particular clients have provided loyal, long-term business and a more personal relationship had developed as a consequence. It seems they too are seeking more fertile grounds in Hoenn.

Toni is dressed to her best, as usual. There’s an undeniable air of elegance in the way she carries herself gracefully behind the host. She wears a long, silken black gown with a rather risqué slit that stretches up the right side. The marks of her latest conquests have long since faded and her bare olive skin begs to be touched.

“Mr. Umbra, I presume?” her voice is soft, yet loud enough to be heard over the instrumental music. The host pulls out the seat opposite of Atticus and Toni settles into it. Her dark eyes glance towards the half-filled glass of wine between his fingers, “I see you got started without me.”

Toni can feel the bumps rise under her touch, “I’ll plan us a trip then, you just let me know when you’re free,” Ana’s the busy one, after all. Toni is still biding her time, making connections, exploring Hoenn. Her schedule is flexible, she can work around Ana’s.

“Alright, let’s warm up then,” honestly, she’s a little chilly too. Toni takes Ana’s hand to lead her out of the water, hoping some of her pokemon were preceptive enough to sneak some towels onto the chairs nearby.

Someone is. A small stack of towels lies neatly folded on the closest lounge chair. She unsure where their drinks went. Oh well. Toni grabs a towel with the intention of wrapping it around ana. She opens it wide, beckoning ana into it with a soft smile.

Like what? her gaze flashes back over to him after she finishes the sake. He knows, “Don’t be an idiot, King,” she’s not in the mood for games.

Yet, he still continues to play and she continues to entertain them. She casually glances at the bottle, it’s brief, before she lets it flick back up to his. She’d be lying if she said she wasn’t thirst for more. His taste lingers on her tongue beneath the rice wine, but it’s fading.

What the hell is wrong with her?

Toni leans forward, standing. The subtle tremble in her legs goes unnoticed beneath the water’s foggy surface. He draws her closer, like a Mothim to a flame. She stops short, just close enough for a hand to reach for the bottle and close the distance.

The snicker, the grin, his own obvious satisfaction in victory . . . it irks her, burning down deep into her core. It goes against everything she’s stood for when it comes to her relationships with men. Despite the loathing and lingering desire, she finds herself intrigued by this new predator in front of her. Curiosity doesn’t overwhelm bitterness, at least not yet.

Her movements are quick, brimming with obvious frustration as she snatches the floating glass off the surface. Her gaze fixates on his in recognition. She’s looked on others like that before, “Don’t look at me like that,” she downs the sake in one familiar swallow.

Although her expression remains fairly neutral, inside she boils with a strange mixture of blissful satisfaction and self-loathing. Fuck.

She melts back into the water, washing her sins away and hiding the now marred olive canvas beneath the pool’s foggy water. Her skin’s littered with reminders of his aggression. At the time she found it satisfying, now she finds it revolting.

There’s a moment she lets herself glance in his direction. It’s brief. She doesn’t speak, only lets the disdain fester. That is, until he offers her a drink. She accepts with a simple glance at the bottle, "Yes."

“Of course, darling. Anywhere you’d like,” she seals it with a gentle kiss on the cheek. It’s an unspoken promise, nowhere was too much, “Perhaps a night away at a winery. I hear there’s a nice one around here somewhere,” selfishly, that means stealing ana away and keeping her to herself for another night. It’s implied, and leaves toni with a lustful smile. Her hands wander, gently tracing curves, “Good, I’d be quite sad if this was all of you I got to myself.”

Toni’s eyes wander up towards the estate, “Are you getting cold?” she feels for goosebumps along her arm with a tender touch.

“it’s a date then,” she smiles pleasantly, also sipping to seal it. After, she nods, comfortably settling in to his subtle movement closer, “Yes. Don’t let me leave without your number, I’ll text you the name . . .” her words trail off as if she’s searching for something. It’s his name, she just now realizes she doesn’t know it, “Who is it I have the pleasure of taking out this evening?”

Her smile brightens considerably as he accepts her offer, “Don’t worry, I’m not cheap,” she grins, bringing the sake to her lips for another sip. It gives her a moment to think.

“Hmmm, I’m currently at a hotel in Mauville. The concierge there told me about this supposedly 5-star little Italian place. Dark, quiet, small, with an excellent wine selection,” They would probably need reservations but perhaps she could pull some strings, “How does that sound?”

“Might?” she repeats with a small pout. She’d make sure he would miss her, “Ahhh you mean when I take you out to dinner later,” she raises an eyebrow in question although it is more of a statement.

I don’t think I could do something so selfless,” plus she doesn’t have the skill required for such a career, “Your . . . girlfriend(?) must be so proud,” she fishes for her own selfish reasons.

“I’ll likely be here for quite some time. We’re expanding to other regions and I was assigned Hoenn. It’s a slow process, and I’ll likely need to stick around to make sure things continue to run smoothly,” her smile turns playful, “Worried you’ll already miss me if I left?” Obviously not, they literally just met, but she teases all the same.

“Thank you,” she nods her head with a smile before taking another sip of sake straight from the bottle, “I like Hoenn so far, though I have yet to see much of its natural beauty,” she has stuck mostly to the big cities for the time being, building a solid foundation before jumping into the real work.

His explanation is underwhelming, and as a naïve civilian, her brow creases in question, “Hm, isn’t that what the Officers do?”

With a sigh, she answers his question, “Nothing nearly as impressive. I work in the family business. We mine precious gems and metals in Oreburgh. I simply sell them to the highest bidders.”
