Such marvelous performances from everyone. The crowd loved Sirius’s last performance, much to the joy of both trainer and Pokemon. Jubilant and eager for another round, the dynamic duo of Lux and Sirius waste no time in performing their next big move! [break][break]
It’s not often these two get a competitive edge, but there’s a first everything, and a new dawn is upon the cosmic duo. Lux winks at the audience, glittery ribbon twirler in hand as he tosses it over to his Meowstic.[break][break]
“I would say simple is best, don’t you agree? Show them what you’re made of, mon chéri!”[break][break]
With no more direction needed Meowstic falls into a natural-ballet style of dance. The navy-blue ribbon twirler sparkles in the stage light and so does Meowstic’s marvelous sailor-moon styled attire. Like a star itself. One step, two step, four, all while twirling the ribbon teaser in perfect succession..[break][break]
Meowstic continues this impressive display of balance and power, transitions to an exceptionally long pirouette. Dancer and ribbon become one, a hurricane of beauty incarnate. In the midst of this performance Meowstic then stops like a music-player winding on pause, he cocks his head, looking straight at the audience, his eyes glowing a bright, mystical aquamarine. Even the contestant Pokemon in the back could feel the drastic change of atmosphere.[break][break]
Though intimidating, it’s downright hypnotizing as well.. A gaze that simply screams ‘look at me!’ but also ‘don’t you DARE upstage me!’[break][break]
Though it doesn’t last for long as Meowstic finishes his beautiful dance like a true professional ballerina, bowing at the end while letting out a happy trill.[break][break]

When Lux looks back over and sees the thermos, well, he feels like the biggest clown in the circus for jumping to such bold conclusions. Of course there’s still a high possibility that Emmett is outright messing with him, one he can’t discount quite yet. The heat lingers on his cheeks as he reaches to accept the offering of coffee. Some caffeine couldn’t hurt. Though, he already felt wide awake now due to his partner’s teasing.[break][break]
“Thank you,” Lux mumbles, letting the aroma of the coffee calm his nerves, also allowing for the hot brew to cool a little. “I drink both. Though the Galarian in me is partial to tea.”[break][break]
The Meowstic’s comically large snot bubble pops at the mention of beverages, now wide awake and alert. Lux rolls his eyes as Sirius climbs effortlessly up his shoulder, curious as to what his trainer has.“Yes, he’s very child-like. Claims he can stay up all night, but passes out before the clock hits midnight.”[break][break]
Although they’re basically the same in that regard.[break][break]
He takes a sip of the coffee. It.. was nice. He smiles, little less on edge this time. “This is good. My thanks to your nana.”[break][break]

Lucky for Shiro, Lux hadn't had a clue. It’s their first official meeting yet Lux was under the impression that Shiro seemed out of place of sorts. In more ways than one. He couldn’t discern why for certain, but everyone deserved to feel included throughout their life. Lux tilts his head with a soft smile. He wanted to calm the uncertainty lurking in his heart, even if just a little. [break][break]
“I think that’s a wonderful reason to be a ranger, Shiro. It really does better a person. Humbles you, even.”[break][break]
When the question redirects back to himself, Lux handles it pretty well and hums, petting his partner who smiles contently, twin tails twitching.[break][break]
“Mine’s really not an impressive reason or anything. My parents are environmentalists, studying the lands Pokemon inhabit and call home. I joined because of my extended knowledge of that, and my overall love for Pokemon. They’ve always seemed to like me, too.”[break][break]
Even his older sister had a successful athletic career. He wanted to contribute to the family in some way even if he had nothing to prove, (an age old excuse his beloved parents would use to try and soothe a late bloomer like himself.)[break][break]
“Anyhow.. we’re in the same rank, yes? I think we should work together sometime. I feel like it would benefit us both.”[break][break]
Before he can say anymore, his Meowstic scrambles to grab a lavender macaroon off his plate, politely handing it over to Shiro.[break][break]
Lux blinks. “Oh.. he usually never shares his food.” [break][break]
With men he wanted to say, but refrains. Best not to ruin the moment![break][break]

Though they had just met, Lux was under the impression that his partner was a person of few words, and what an impact that sentence had left. Not long after Lux goes dead silent, stains of red creeping upon his dark complexion.[break][break]
The Meowstic snuggled by his feet has fallen asleep, snoring loudly in the night, and it’s just about the only thing keeping him grounded and sane in the heat of the moment. [break][break]
“You.. um, m-might want to rephrase your wording there.” He coughs weakly into his hand. Ah, so he’s one of those people. “But I should be fine. I have Sirius here with me, after all.”[break][break]
Wearing a smile he gently nudges the little one with his foot. Sirius falls over like a doll off the shelf, still slumbering away in a deep sleep. Damn him.[break][break]
Lux shrugs, frustratedly pinches at his nose. “He’ll.. wake up when it gets serious.” And hopefully, with wishful thinking in mind, it wouldn’t come to that.[break][break]

The cheesy name tag, the couples tables where the participants came and went after a time limit. He saw these types of events on various sitcoms on the telly, but never imagined himself in one of these personally. 'It’s simply for business,' Lux tells himself. Though he couldn’t help but feel a little nervous.[break][break]
He turns over to his Meowstic, who’s shamelessly stuffing his face with the plate of food he had picked for himself. Lux glares and tugs on the Pokemon’s squishy cheek, who whines with his cheeks stuffed like a greedy Morpeoko. “Behave yourself, Sirius. We want to make a good impression.”[break][break]
And just on cue, a gentleman sits down across from him. Actually, upon closer inspection he seemed a little familiar.[break][break]
“Oh, hello. My name’s Lux. Sorry if it’s a little out of the blue, but I feel like I’ve seen you around?”[break][break]
Not long after the realization hits them, and they smile, bright like the sun.[break][break]
“That’s right! The ranger’s base in Fortree! We’re both rookies, how could I forget?” He laughs softly, embarrassed at his scattered memory. “Well then, I guess it’s appropriate to ask, If I may —”[break][break]
Lux’s features soften, his hand absentmindedly petting his Partner Pokemon as he gently spoke. “What inspired you to become a ranger?”[break][break]

As a ranger his job never ended. The small town allure of Verdanturf couldn’t keep Lux away, and it seemed the Fairy Pokemon had mutual feelings on the matter. The fields had the sweet scent of honey in the air, an aroma his Meowstic absolutely went crazy for, but he stays tranquil and composed as they both help the Florges with their work. [break][break]
Squirtle pail in hand he showers it down gently over the blooming flowers. He’s reminded of his second home back in Laverre, where most of his family history was stored. Apparently his ancestors did this too, helping the neighboring Pokemon whenever they could, even during times where it was unheard of. Maybe it’s in his blood after all..[break][break]
“I wonder how la tante’s is doing with her peony harvest this year.” Lux muses aloud. He hasn’t seen his aunt in a very long time.[break][break]
Meanwhile, without a care in the world Sirius eats some dandelions, and Lux can’t help but laugh as he scoops him up, affectionately nuzzling his Pokemon.[break][break]
“Drôle, n'est-ce pas?” Funny, aren’t you?[break][break]
Though it seems they were not, in fact, Dandelions, but unsuspecting Florges and Flabebe who seemed very irritated.[break][break]
Time to throw a Pokeball and hope for the best![break][break]

Their goals aligned more often than not. Both of them had strived to be better trainers and would jump at any opportunity to do so. Although, Lux fears that this is a bit above his original expectations for what she had in mind in terms of getting stronger.[break][break]
“I must admit.. I didn’t think you were the hiking type, Luka.” [break][break]
Given that this sort of activity was already part of his ranger training, (learning to traverse all kinds of different terrain was crucial) Lux hadn’t been turned off by the idea. However, it’s a bit nerve-wracking to think she’ll be participating alongside them. Mt. Chimney was also highly intimidating given its hot climate, though it sounded simple enough hiking it could be pretty treacherous.[break][break]

“Anyhow! Is this your first time here, at Mt. Chimney?” Lux relaxes his posture, smiles warmly at his dear friend. After all, he was always effortlessly at ease with her.[break][break]

Being a ranger was exciting to say the least, more than they originally anticipated. Lux was being put in predicaments he never would’ve imagined in his wildest dreams. Like, giant Caterpie invading unsuspecting shopping malls for example..[break][break]
It’s a good thing he got out a lot, otherwise this would’ve stunned him into a concerning silent state of shock.[break][break]
Well, he’s still reeling a little bit from reading that mission report. But no matter![break][break]
Spotting another ranger, he’s quick to join them.[break][break]
“Hey! I’m Lux, your backup. Or well.. I wonder if you r-really need “backup” in a situation like this?” He lets out a little awkward laugh. “Thankfully Caterpie aren’t very fast, or much of a threat. So we shouldn’t have much trouble gathering them up!”[break][break]
He smiles. “Have any customers spotted one yet?”[break][break]

The competition was fiercer than he ever could’ve imagined. However, Lux expected nothing less with Luka climbing higher and higher among the ranks. Still, just because he knew a person or two here wouldn’t hinder his decision to give it his all! Sirius wouldn’t forgive him, otherwise. [break][break]
As if in sync Trainer and Pokemon take their presence up on the stage. The audience’s anticipation reaches them both, inspiring a spontaneous burst of creativity between trainer and Pokemon. No words or thoughts were echoed aloud. They knew just what to do.[break][break]
No nerves were to be had as Meowstic took over center stage. Lux stays right behind him, a delicate smile gracing his lips as his beloved Pokemon shone beautifully under the spotlight. Without a word Lux’s grin remains as he extends out a hand, snaps his gloved fingertips together. Meowstic’s ears twitch, unfurling gracefully with a strong aquamarine glow surrounding his small form. [break][break]
Even the trainer himself appears to dazzle, though, surely it’s just the lighting. Right?[break][break]
Lux smiles.[break][break]
“Éco-Sphère!”[break][break]
Within the blink of an eye, three orbs of pure energy manifest above Meowstic’s head. They are his to command and control. With perfect balance and form the orbs and Meowstic begin to twirl together in unison. From just two feet planted on the ground, gradually increasing speed, Sirius the Meowstic shifts to a beautiful pirouette![break][break]
After showcasing amazing balance and control, Lux figures it’s time to sweeten the bargain. Take a bold risk, as they say.[break][break]
Lux grins, hands raised in the air as he calls out to his beloved partner.[break][break]
“Now, my little star. Reach for the sky!”[break][break]
On cue, at mach speed the spheres of pure energy soar upward, teetering close to the ceiling spotlights. Though that hadn’t bothered them one bit. Sirius follows suit, jumping up high in the air, suspended mid-air in the middle of the circling ring of energy. But just before he descends back down to earth, Meowstic musters all the power he can into his twin tails, subsequently knocking all the energy balls simoustanly.[break][break]
The large clusters explode with a loud bang! Shimmers of beautiful green dust rain down on the audience as Meowstic flawlessly nails the landing back on stage.[break][break]
Now back down to earth, modest as one can be after such a dazzling performance, Sirius performs a little curtsy with his dress.[break][break]
