Something akin to a giggle bubbles up from Klaus's throat when Elisabeth refuses to promise not to shoot him, his magenta-rose eyes bright in the light of their success. Hitching his grease-stained thumbs in the belt loops of his pants he saunters back over to the machine and Klaus gives an idle tap of his foot against the compressor.

When Elisabeth recites a piece of poetry, Klaus cocks his head sharply to listen, eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "Shakespeare?" His voice lilting with the question, it swiftly switches into an impish drawl, "You seem the type, that tracks." Before Elisabeth can protest, he teases with a wink, "I only liked those when I got to kiss the girls."

His demeanour shifts abruptly at the unexpected apology. Brow furrowed minutely, Klaus gives a little wave of his hand as he assures, "I'm an ass, I deserved it." A soft smile then touches Klaus's lips for a bare moment, the expression gone as quickly as it came, and he says in turn, "Wasn't too bad, yeah. We make a pretty good team?"

An amorous trill from the cage briefly draws Klaus's attention before he yelps out a firm, "Nope," and turns on his heel. "Nice to see you again, Elisabeth. Take care," Klaus calls over his shoulder, only to regret getting an eyeful of engaged Pangoros.

"Gunna go scrub my eyes with bleach." Klaus waves as he retreats.

The sound of ocean waves lapping against the shoreline is the only sound in the dead of night. The moon above shimmers in and out of view, obscured frequently by dark clouds threatening to roil with rain. Only just a mile from the lighthouse, though no less remote than the lone structure in the distance, a single figure cuts through the night, a lanky silhouette little more than a shadow slipping between moonbeams.

Clad in a wetsuit with his goggles snorkel pressed up atop his head, Klaus hauls off a heavy net from one of his Lapras's shell spikes; resting just at the edge of the water, a pleasant hum warbles from Anwhistle as his trainer pauses to lightly scratch the creature's neck. "Thanks for your help," Klaus whispers to his pokemon.

He then turns and hauls the laden net over his shoulder, the weight adjusted until comfortable. Moving with purpose across the beach, he disappears just moments later into the nearby treeline to make his way to a secondary drop-site deeper in the forest.

Meanwhile, Anwhistle the Lapras placidly observes as Klaus disappears, his attention diverting back towards the water at the sound of a splash, some nearby fish drawing his attention with want. A curious whistle then spills from the Lapras, his neck swinging with interest as he attempts to pinpoint the sensation of another human nearby.

Klaus's gaze flits to Elisabeth as she speaks, his shoulders rolling into a haphazard shrug as to his workload. "Keeps me busy," he answers with a half-smile, amusement sparkling in his magenta-rose eyes. Busy indeed, between his actual work and ensuring the drop sites weren't compromised. The smuggling paid well, at least.

He falls silent when Elisabeth takes the makeshift blowgun and allows his attention to roam over the cobbled together machinery, eyes darting here and there to watch the whole of the proceedings; worrying his teeth over his lower lip, a sudden laugh barks out from Klaus when Elisabeth swears, his mein turning wholly impish, though he does not comment otherwise upon her swearing.

"I can fix it," he pledges, turning away from his partner to grab a second syringe to glue a hex nut onto it. "Here. Hold this," Klaus directs with distraction as his mind races, the syringe passed to Elisabeth as he bends to work on the compressor more. "It's firing too slow," he mumbles as he works. "That's why the Pangoro could hit it."

A wrench is produced and the compressor turned on and off several times to test his work. "That should do it," Klaus announces with a nod of his head, the hollow tube passed over to Elisabeth for her to aim again. "This should help," he then mumbles as he moves to the other side of the cage, calling over his shoulder, "Don't shoot me."

A flash of a grin is offered to Elisabeth, and as she readies herself to shoot the blowgun again, Klaus clamps his hands over his mouth to bellow, "HEY" and the Pangoro to draw their attention away from his partner.

While Klaus walks towards the front door he pulls on his jacket, the collar popped to block the chilly afternoon air; spring was almost here, but still not quite. The sound of footsteps following after him on the pavements draws the young man's attention, though he does not turn. Instead, he says "Hansel," softly, his hands moving to sign 'Watch me.' before his hands still and are hidden in his jacket's pockets. The Dhelmise gives a soft drone of acknowledgement and fades from sight behind his trainer.

He frowns deeply when he turns to face Yoshiro, a single eyebrow quirked as she recants his date with Amber Lenoir. Glancing from the offered money to Yoshiro face he states blandly, "I'm not a fucking prostitute." He does reach towards Yoshiro, but instead of taking the money pilfers a cigarette and motions to one of the matches which is then used to light it - he hadn't smoked since high school but by Arceus what a nightmare of a day.

"Look," Klaus finally says after he takes a drag of the cigarette, his voice rough from the smoke. "She was nice. She's coming out for some photoshoot at the lighthouse and that's it. I don't need that kind of attention."

Another deep drag is taken of the cigarette, his eyes closing briefly as the smoke curls through his lungs, suffocating him until it spills languidly between his lips. Klaus was going to crave this later, but thankfully it would be too much of a hassle to buy any once the craving hit. The lighthouse was too remote to just pop on down to the drug store. One small blessing at least.

"Take it up with her next time, not me," Klaus demands in agitation.

Klaus's strained expression does not change as his surname and occupation are listed, his constricted voice piping out a "Yup," in response; his grip meets Yoshiro's with a surprisingly firmness before his fists ball together in his lap.

At the directive of his phone, however, a muscle pulls taut in his cheek. Who the hell was this woman? A plains clothes cop? His anxiety morphs into something else entirely, his magenta-rose eyes narrowing subtly as they take in the sight of Yoshiro - a street thug given the tattoos, or a gym rat given the clothing?

"No, thank you," Klaus answers, the warble in his voice replaced with a faint undercurrent of warning. His hands unballing, he straightens his shirt's collar, displaying several of his now-chipped blue painted nails, and moves to stand.

"It was a pleasure meeting you," Klaus intones as he moves to leave.

"I'm pretty sure it's going to kill me," Klaus shoots back sarcastically as to the fresh air, his eye visibly twitching from lack of sleep and stress. He groans dramatically, his hand lifting to rub at the side of his face and specifically his eye in an attempt to sooth the tightened muscles as Annie soundly ignores him and continues speaking.

Klaus stops briefly in the road at the news Trig is apparently in Hoenn, a softly hopeful "Really?" spilling from his lips before he clears his throat awkwardly and glances away, the pause in his step barely noticeable as he continues onwards. He only listens half-heartedly as his friend babbles about the reason for her family's appearance in the Region, the young man's thoughts drifting to Annie's twin as he supplies half-hearted and distracted 'yeahs' where appropriate in the conversation.

He jumps into himself when Remington appears from the grass with a whole damn Impidimp in his maw, the Furfrou's barking and Impidimp's shrieking causing the young man to wince deeply. Huffing in annoyance at Annie, Klaus sips at his coffee once more before releasing Dhelmise from his pokeball. Grumbling beneath his breath, Klaus points with his index finger from around his coffee cup, "Go fuck it up," at a second Impidimp which wanders onto the road.

A rather vicious scuffle reveals the second Impidimp to instead be a Ditto and Klaus throws a pokeball before continuing on their walk. His mouth opening and then closing, Klaus musters up the courage to ask, "Why is Trig going back to Kalos?"

Klaus flinches at the sound of his name, his magenta-rose gaze sullenly drifting towards Barnaby's features; his brow furrowed and lips pursed in a thin line, Klaus's attention is distant at best. He tilts his head faintly as he tries to parse the other man's words, a soft "What?" spilling from his lips.

Silence falls over Klaus anew when the pokeballs are produced and three Eevee are revealed, his eyes widening noticeably at the introduction of the adorable pokemon. Pepin's appearance between his legs earns a constricted, uncertain laugh that grows as the little beast wriggles into his lap and is followed by two more Eevee, all prancing and dancing upon him.

His self-loathing fading to a dull thrum, Klaus idly runs his fingers through the Eevees' soft fur as the opportunity raises, his hands occasionally lifting to shield his cheeks from wayward kisses. An audible exhale of breath fills the air before a half-smile quirks onto Klaus's lips, his expression beyond exhausted but decidedly eased from is panic attack.

Fiddling with the edges of the towel around his shoulders, the words, "I - thanks. You didn't. You could have left. Thanks," tumble from Klaus's lips when he finally looks to Barnaby again.

Klaus blinks rapidly as his date is pushed aside, his face slowly turning ashen when Yoshiro seats herself without a word; he quickly begins to fidget beneath her heavy gaze, a startled, "What the fuck?" spilling from his lips at the sudden development. His hands clamp down in his lap, the young man shrinking back in his chair.

Casting a hopeless look at his date who has promptly abandoned him, Klaus looks timidly at Yoshiro, his face a brilliant scarlet and his anxiety flaring anew. Mouth opening and closing, a soft squeak sounds from the depths of his throat, the words caught there stubbornly. Closing his eyes a moment, he takes several breaths before looking at Yoshiro again, somewhat disappointed she remains and is not a figment of his imagination. Klaus briefly considers flagging down one of the volunteers for the event, but Yoshiro's heavy gaze pins him motionlessly in his seat.

He swallows audibly, Klaus's voice barely audible as he whispers a constricted, "Can I h-help you?"

As if it would diffuse the situation, he extends a visibly shaking hand and pipes out with entire too much forced cheer, "I'm Klaus. It's nice to meet you?" A strained smile is splashed across his face, too many teeth displayed for it to be anything other than forced and terrified.

Feeling the anxiety loosen its grip on his emotions, Klaus moves to collect his next card, his magenta-rose gaze flitting over the name. Murmuring it to himself, he pauses at one of the many tables laden with food and picks up a few macaroons to chew through on his way across the Contest Hall to his next table.

"I'm Klaus," he greets his partner with a touch more confidence than he's had all day, his hands dusting together to rid them of any crumbs before extending one in offering. "This is Hansel," he supplies as to his trailing partner Dhelmise.
