Johanna listened, a small shaking of the head would be her only response before Arashi revealed to her the truth of that one summer.

“Same reason as me then, but I suppose I decided to give them the middle finger rather than go quietly.” Admittedly no matter how noisy it might be here, she always felt the lingering fear that someone might be listening for use against her.

In hindsight maybe not the wisest choice, but it was a choice she had to live with. And honestly she figured that kind of deception would’ve inadvertently played right into their hands, down the line.

Her battle was rather quick, and she had yet to look over at Thomas’s battle. But that did not halt the situation from developing further.

Eye-like shapes with translucent barriers allowing her to gaze at another world gave her pause to her continued presence here. The strange sight even send chills down her spine.

“We should leave.” Johanna decided to voice her concerns even as Thomas was taking care of another amalgamation Pokemon.

She quickly grabbed what she could of her haul and moved to get out of there.

Whether Cillian had grown humble since last she had seen him or he had already seen through her ploy, she could not tell. But Johanna found little time to ponder this as Cillian posed to her a dilemma.

The Ship or the lives onboard.

She wondered for a moment how many were still onboard, if any. They certainly had yet to come to her aid if they were still here.

But while Johanna pondered this, the Dusknoir tried to spring into action hurtling itself at the Dhelmise firing Anchor shots at the Hull in a flurry of SHADOW PUNCHES. Meanwhile, Marshadow would similarly attempt to move through shadows in a hurry attempting to SUCKER PUNCH the Dhelmise tendrils wrapping themselves around the Ship.

She figured the offer was but a deception, lies to make her lower her guard, and so all Johanna would offer Cillian was a simple rebuttal. “You really want me to believe that you’d let any of us go?”

She accepted the Valor badge as it flew toward her. She smiled, happy with the victory. And so she thought that would be the end of it.

But she was wrong as Navy surprised her with another task. A small one, but a task nonetheless. He led her to the smooth granite wall and instructed her to write a message of her own.

She took her time to ponder the various words she wished to impart on the people coming after this.

At last, after what felt like an eternity, she wrote.

‘Always strive to be better’

No easy task, she knew that. But a worthwhile one.

Then she turned to Navy and said. “I am ready now.”

The rustling of chains echoed against the huge dark eerie stony halls.

"Oh, this dream again?"

It wasn’t the first time she found herself chained in these cold damp halls nor would it be the last, of that she was certain.

The chains weighed heavily upon her as they had after Meteno had revealed to her the truth of her past actions. The truth that she had set her own needs before others, the truth that her actions had caused suffering to others and even risked the lives of Megan Whitmore.

As her thoughts returned to that dark subject the chains grew heavier. The guilt grew heavier. She might have left Team Rocket but the guilt of her actions still chained her tightly to a jail of her own making.

She awaited the ghosts of the past that would come and taunt her each night. Sure her crimes might not have been huge like many others. But they were crimes all the same.

The ghosts did not come.

It felt like hours went by within this dream until something happened. In the distance a large white, yellow and green shape carrying a torch walked with heavy steps toward her. From her seat on the stony cold floor, she felt as each step sent tremors through the ground. And as it came closer she saw how it towered above her, the size of a house if not two, would not have been far off.

The huge white shape came to a halt in front of her. Then with a loud thud it sat down in front of her.The torch it held high illuminating her as she sat there bent forward blue hair hiding her face.

“Come to taunt me?”

No answer.

“Whatever taunts you have come to deliver, voice them now and leave!”

No Answer, only a thoughtful look from its six eyes.

“WHY AREN’T YOU TALKING!” Johanna cried out in frustration.

No Answer.

Johanna began to sob, tears slowly running down her cheeks as she felt the chains growing ever heavier.

The Giant placed the humongous torch gently down by its side, the heat radiating warmth upon Johanna’s cold guilt. It then reached behind itself retrieving an equally big lump of clay placing it in front of Johanna.

“Wha… What?” Johanna looked somewhat in confusion upon what the giant was doing. Tears drying as she did.

The Giant began to chop the clay into smaller pieces. Then it worked each piece into a figure, a statue. each statue surprisingly detailed and formed according to her idealized view of each person.

It didn’t take long before Johanna recognized these idealized statues. And as she did a voice unfamiliar to her spoke from nowhere in particular.

The First Statue to form was one of Ruby Garcia

A friend lost to choices made.

The second figure to form was one of Arashi Akiyama

A family once lost now found

The third Statue to form was one of Isaac Merlo

A friend kept by hands outstretched.

The forth statue to be made was one of Megan Whitmore

A light in the darkness.

“What are you trying to say?” Johanna asked, begged even. Blind to the meaning it was trying to convey.

Mistakes made.

It pointed toward her. Then toward the statues of Ruby, Arashi and Isaac in turn.

Choices made, paths chosen.

Lastly it pointed toward Megan.

A lesson learned. Eyes once shut, now open.

“Yes, yes, I know. I see the error of my ways.” Johanna admittedly felt frustration as the Giant did not offer straight answers.

The Giant looked thoughtful. Then it seemed an idea sprung into its head. It fetched another bit of clay from somewhere behind it and formed yet another statue. This one a direct copy of her as she sat there in front of it, chains and all.

It placed the statue in front of her and pointed to the chains.

Past Chains weigh heavy.

And while the clay was still malleable it stripped the statue of its chains and re-sculpted the statue into one of her standing tall and proud arms outstretched in cheer with a wide bright beaming smile.

Choices of the past can’t be unmade. Consequences yes, but look to the future, let not the chains weigh heavy.

And as the REVELATION dawned upon her she felt her chest grow light. She began to move, to rise, and as she rose the chains fell off of her, the ones around her hands and feet clasped open and joined the others on the stone flooring.

She could not change past mistakes, but to chain herself to the past under the excuse of repentance made her unable to truly look toward the future. This was the REVELATION granted to her by the giant in front of her.

And so an old dark dream ended upon a note of light, ready to usher in a bright future for this world of dreams.

Perhaps she would even wake to remember it?

“Nope... Not yet.” Johanna replied. A certain unease in her voice as she watched the Zigzagoon run further and further ahead.

The peace was not a sign of good. No, therein lies the deception that Team Rocket was trying to Pull on them. She could feel it closing in on them. Though perhaps it was merely the situations she kept being thrown into, edging paranoid claws into her.

As Johanna and Megan move onward, hand in hand smiles upon their faces as they pass one Carnival ride after the other, they become the spitting image of a happy-ending for fanfiction authors around the world to claim as the one true evidence of their OC Ship.

And as the metaphorical credits would start scrolling in the background, the Carnival music played the role of outro-theme, Megan’s voiced-over question was offered for the grand season finale.

But Johanna’s answer was never given to the reader as the scene panned upward toward the skies in true anime fashion before fading into the void letting the two women have their day of merriment until the next season would arrive. .

PROMPT:

Poisoned Fangs sunk deep into the Tsareena. It flailed for a moment in the waters before being pulled down, faint traces of small bubbles popping at the surface as the air soon left the plants lungs.

Mortified Johanna looked down and saw what a single mistake had wrought her.

But Johanna was given little time to mourn, little time to deal with any grief that might spawn. A beam of light shot forward from beneath the waves. Dhelmise just barely managed to dodge by jumping into a PHANTOM FORCE. Where it would emerge remained to be seen.

Drifblim too managed to dodge but that was a matter of pure luck more so than actual skill. It’s placement had been in a favorable direction.

“Bomb them with Hypnosis.” Johanna commanded the Drifblim.

And it obliged. Though how effective it would be even Drifblim doubted. Still, the red rings of the HYPNOSIS would wash down from high above like a waterfall made psychic power.

Like Cillian, Johanna finds herself forced onto the deck, lying as flat as possible as the Brutal swing flies over her.

Marshadow was not so lucky. It had foregone defense for pure unadulterated offense. It felt the gracing blows of furious seaweeds, though it managed to stick close. It would do as Johanna had demanded, fight until the Dhelmise was knocked out.

SPECTRAL THIEF would be its choice of attack, signified with the eerie dark purple glow that coated its punches. Punches it would keep throwing regardless of whether it was hitting Dhelmise or the shimmering barrier generated.

“You sound awfully sure about that!” Johanna edged on, while rolling to the safety of some conveniently placed crates on the ship. Crates that were sure to not last long. “But you are just another trainer.” She let the rest be implied hoping this would be enough of a blow to his ego that he might grow reckless.

Still, even if he did grow reckless she needed a plan that was better than this. Especially if Lugia decided to show its ugly mug.

Wait, where is Lugia? The dreadful question bore into the shield of bravery she was covering behind.

Meanwhile Dusknoir was busy in the air dodging what stray seaweeds tried to reach for it. Disable doing its job. Seeing the opponent being gone Dusknoir did the only thing it could in a situation like that, frantically throwing SHADOW PUNCHES around left, right, behind, in front, above, below, expecting an attack coming from any of these directions. Even if this was certain to be a futile endeavor.

Silent as the wind did Drifblim float in the air high above. While Johanna’s attention laid upon watching the ground, the balloon kept an eye on the skies. And so it was the first to notice the approaching figure.

It quickly wrapped its arms around her as it released hot air angled in a quick sideways falling descent. A small yelp of surprise escaped Johanna as she watched and even felt the hurricane winds pass her by.

“Joe, retaliate.” She quickly commanded.

And the Drifblim was quick to act upon the command. Electricity coursing over it for a moment before the THUNDERBOLT flew toward the would-be attacker IRON JUGULIS.

Never had she thought she might see the day where she would work with the now-former Head Ranger on a mission.

But here she was following along with a supply transport. The Vehicle moved slowly and safely forward. But at this point it was quicker to be on foot.

By her side a Zigzagoon hurried along running in its namesake pattern, sniffing and otherwise checking for dangers as it had been ordered to.

If they were going to win this battle against the forces of Team Rocket, they required steady supply lines. But to secure them was a dangerous and even arduous task that even the most hardy of trainers would find difficult. After all, Team Rocket would find these supplies as vital if they could secure them.

And so Johanna had been assigned to protect one such supply run. Her quarry was a small group of non-combat personnel. Military Engineers, medics and other such important people. Alongside a variety of other resources.

By her side a Phantump floated eager to see action, and all too ready to prove itself.
