Looking down, he laughed a bit and stooped to scoop Rosie up. “Well hi, did you miss me?” He’d definitely come a long way from frightening the poor mimikyu with a rubber chicken mask. It seemed she’d come around to him. She settled comfortably in his arm, but then Rook was there, and his arms tangled around Lam and she had to squeeze free or risk getting squashed.[break][break] He was damp, and smell like fresh soap. Lam sighed as the last of his worried tension eased off his shoulders. “Yeah, yeah, I’m okay, Rookidee,” he replied, voice muffled by Rook’s shoulder, “A little banged up, but nothing too serious.” Really, he’d spent most of the time worried about other people. Several others had taken far worse hits.[break][break] No panic spirals, not broken bones. Not this time.[break][break] ”Sorry I couldn’t call sooner, I got held up helping someone to the hospital; had to make sure she got checked out.”[break][break] Of course, it still didn’t take long before Rook was checking him out, fretting as he examined Lam top to bottom. “Hey, yeah. Water sounds nice, but slow down.” Carefully, Lam caught his hands and pressed them to his face, turning his face to press a kiss against one palm. He laughed, but the sound was quiet. “I mostly just want to take a shower, I feel pretty gross.”[break][break] One hand shifted, raising to ruffle Rook’s still-drying hair before he leaned up to press a kiss against his lips. Relieved. “I’d say you could join me, but you beat me to it.” Then his hand fell, the other still clasped around his fiancé’s. With soft tug he moved toward the bathroom. “But c’mon, you can check me over before I get in. Deal?”[break][break] Lam paused, though, a frown tugging at the corners of his mouth. “Well, everything in the city is wet…how wet?” Stress threatened to creep in, but he supposed it made sense. The gym was so close to the water, situated on the beach as it was. “Wait, did you go there?” He stopped and shook his head, “I was more concerned about making sure you were alight, I didn’t stop to look.” At least the house wasn’t underwater too. “I was worried for a second that you’d have to evacuate.” [attr="class","oocnotes"]
