You're being dramatic. There he was blubbering like a child and that stupid thought swept through his mind, making it even worse. Lam didn't deserve having to put up with someone as breakable as him. The last thing he wanted Lam to think was that he was somehow delicate and couldn't handle anything intense. He'd spent most of his life bottling up his emotions and saying everything was okay, so it made it harder when he actually had someone that cared to listen to him.

Lam soothed him the best he could, under the circumstances, as confusing as they likely were. He'd probably never dated anyone else that would spontaneously erupt into tears from a silly game. What did that say about him except for the obvious fact that he was emotionally unstable?

"But it's just a lot and shouldn't have to pick me up all the time." He hiccupped like a child, sniffled on his own emotions as he formed himself to calm until he could speak as coherently as he possibly could at the time. Of course, it didn't help him keeping things from Lam either. Trying to handle everything on his own clearly wasn't working out all that great either.

"Are you sure?" It felt better to give him an out though if he changed his mind, not that he thought Lam would ever take it. Would he regret not taking it? No, that wasn't like Lam. It was easy to interject his own insecurities, but he couldn't change who he knew Lam to be.

A Tinkaton and a Snorlax, a tough pairing for his own. Both his Nidoqueen and Zoroark looked up at him eagerly, showing a willingness that had been hesitant at first. They were counting on him to be confident, so really he didn't have any other choice.

Rook could sit there and explain to his boyfriend that he had done something stupid, but was that really necessary? Did he really even need to bother when the evidence was so clear and written on the walls. The same walls being blasted aside because some creature was chasing him for attempting to steal a pearl. Really, it had been very dramatic and totally uncalled for.

Instead, they were running. He wasn't very good at running, but managed to do so without tripping over his own feet. Little did he realize until it was too late, that his actions once again had consequences. This time, Genny was about to lose her pokemon all because he'd decided to steal something that wasn't his. He felt the color drain out of his face, a million different apologies slipping to the surface that would never make up for the price they had to pay. "I'm sorry." He managed meekly, figuring that Genny would probably hate his guts now. So much for a first impression.

Maybe he shouldn't have been so nervous, but this was his first gym battle. To be quite honest, Rook felt like he was the last person in the world qualified to take on the role of trainer, but his boyfriend was very... encouraging. In a good sorta way though. He scanned the small crowd formed around the arena and spied lam logan lingering out there before giving a little wave. The other gave him an enthusiastic wave with a beaming grin, looking like a total dork. Rook, instead, could feel the nerves in his smile quiver just a little bit as his hands returned to grip anxiously at his pokeballs.

He should be confident, yeah? Sure, he could totally do that. Or, at least, he could pretend to be confident about it. He'd spent enough of his life pretending, but right then he wanted more than anything to feel it for himself. Maybe that was the point of the gym battle. He'd soon find out.

It was nice to get out with the other, even if just on a little walk. It was even nicer that Lam was taking the time to encourage him. He'd never felt particularly motivated to be a trainer, even if at one time he'd considered it. He'd never really been encouraged to do anything and therein lied the problem. He didn't know what he wanted anymore, but Lam made it easier.

This felt like a long time coming. The game was merely an excuse, but he hadn't expected it to hit near reality. Of course, it wasn't even that close. It was a generalized story about going back home and rekindling a relationship. He decided to push his own life into the mix and, of course, it back fired. As much as he pretended otherwise, it wasn't a stable topic for him and he did everything he could to skirt around it, but that wasn't fixing the problem, was it?

Words fell from his tongue in a twisted mess, all emotion and no sense. That why usually the reason he refrained from falling into these emotional pitfalls, as he usually didn't know how to climb out of them. Years of attempting to fix the issue hadn't proved sustainable in the long run. Of course, here he was, putting it all on his boyfriend who already had to deal with his dramatic oddities.

"It sounded just like you, the actions and speech... I don't know, it probably is just in my head. I shouldn't have played, it's happened before when I interject my own life into..." He shook his head, feeling a migraine form. Nothing he said made sense and he couldn't unwrap his mind from the emotion.

He forced himself to stop as his breath began to stifle. Sometimes, he panicked a little. It showed in the little hiccup of his breath as he tried not to cry. Idiot. Why am I like this?

The calming sweep of Lam's hands helped him to come back down little by little. "I'm sorry, I'm a mess. Big dumb mess. You don't deserve to have to deal with it."

He breathed in with a sharp sniffle, not quite helping the disastrous burst of laughter at the tease. "Stop, don't make me laugh." He whined. "No one's cooler than you."

It was pretty surprising that Lam could manage to keep a secret from him. Usually all it required was a little bit of weed and some alone time and Lam would be chatting him up on every little minute detail of his secretive plans for that evening. Many date nights had been spoiled that way, not that Rook necessarily relied upon the surprise of it to enjoy it.

Now that he thought about it, Lam had gone without smoking quite a bit lately. He should have seen the little signs and deduced that the other was hiding something, but Rook was entirely oblivious most of the time. Either way, he'd sacrificed something he loved for this, maybe it wasn't all that deep but it still made Rook swoon.

Their hands tangled together and Rook walked alongside him, drawn close like a magnet that couldn't stray an inch too far. He'd never really been anywhere fancy before, so it did make him wonder just how much Lam spent to afford this. Hopefully not too much, though Rook wasn't about to let guilt cloud his mind at an important moment like this.

As Lam checked them into the spa, he quickly hurried through the doors, feeling the heat and moisture in the air. "Oh Lam I'm so excited." He paused though as they entered the lockers and he grabbed a towel. "What do I do about these?" He pulled at the bandages, "Will there be other people?"

It was a nice sentiment though, the other knew him so well. Rook doubted that anyone knew him better than Lam did. It was a little odd to think about, he wasn't exactly a secretive person but he didn't recall a time when anyone knew him quite so much. It was nice, like having someone in his corner for once. "Awww so it's almost like experiencing it together for the first time. That's prettyyyyyy romantic." Of course, that was Lam's attempt to tickle Rook's romantic fancy. It was a successful attempt though.

Unfortunately, there wasn't much room in their little bath tub, though there had been some funny attempts made in the past. The attempts were still made and Rook always appreciated them no matter how small. It did occur to him that not long ago he'd been seeking out some lavish lifestyle, yet after meeting Lam he hadn't thought about that life once. Money didn't buy happiness, they always said, and he'd never believed a word of it until Lam.

Rook grinned at the little kiss, leaning into the ring of arms around him. There wasn't a price in the world he'd ever sell this for, that was a scary thought. It felt like a redefining thought, he'd seen the world in a different shade not long ago.

"Yeah! Let's go, I'm excited!" Though he also hoped this didn't come as too much of an expense on the other. Rook knew his tastes could still seem expensive, but he wasn't going to dampen the mood for now.

Seeing Lam step out into the snow, Rook couldn't help himself. He laughed. It was awkward, immediate tenseness at the cold on his skin. Such a summer child, unfamiliar to the winter. It wasn't laughing at him though, he told himself. Maybe. Okay, maybe he wasn't being a very good or considerate boyfriend right then, but Lam seemed to be at least enjoying the first time experience. It was like a child waking up on a snow day, knowing school was canceled and wonderland existed outside.

Rook remembered how that feeling was, even if staying home from school used to fill him with equal dread. It was nice now, like he was reliving his childhood in a more blissful way. Just another example of Lam lightening his life.

"I don't know, its weirdly kind of tasty? Try it." He dipped a hand into the layer of snow, perfectly white and crisp and took a bite. It wasn't yummy so much as a sensory thing? Maybe? It was odd to explain. "Oh no, it's more of a... saying? I'm not sure, but I knew someone who did thinking it was lemon flavored." Apparently, it hadn't been lemon-flavored.

"Not sure, but that's kind of the novelty of it. Used to get so excited by snow, even if no one else really was so.." He shrugged at the thought, leaning into the other. The warmth of his breath and the cold of his nose was a strange combination. What a baby. He liked it though.

"Oh, hold this." Rook said, handing his coffee over before plopping down without warning onto his back. Swinging his arms and legs out, he stood back up. "Snow angel."

Lam was really drunk. This wasn't an issue right? It felt strange, but it was still his boyfriend so... Lam was surprisingly the more affectionate out of the two of them. It was only natural that alcohol made him even more affectionate and touchy. Rook allowed it, of course, even if touch was usually a... well a touchy subject. It hadn't been a natural thing at first and he'd often felt bad for hurting Lam's feelings.

Touch was an expression of love and passion for the other, even if it hadn't always been the same for Rook. Contact made him shudder, it made him tense like he'd somehow done something bad. Lam had made it easier, obviously. The other was so good and patient that Rook often felt he didn't deserve him. Little by little it felt like reconstruction of himself on a spiritual level. It was nice.

The way Lam stared at him right then, made him want to cover up. It was an intense sort of stare, and he understood what it meant, but naturally he wanted to recoil with a slew of apologies for such ugliness. His heart pressed anxiously against the confines of his chest, breathing uneasy until he could at least distract Lam for a moment with his own undressing.

“You are very beautiful, you know.” Rook felt something shiver in him at that.

"Well not all of me but thanks." Yet he was not anticipating the drift of fingers, purposeful and calculated. Really, he should have expected it. This wasn't their first dance but it seemed more devout than usual. Maybe that was the alcohol talking. He shivered as lips pressed against the curve of a scar. A little nervous, pleased sound slipped free.

It's okay, this is okay. He felt the sliver of a thought in his head, soft and alluring. He closed his eyes as the lips traveled over his skin. Lam did stuff like this to him, so easily. Made him feel beautiful, even if he wasn't always sure if he was telling the truth. It didn't matter what he thought, not if Lam thought he was perfect, right?

Waking up Lam was like a cardinal sin in this household, it didn't matter if it was just a short nap. Only the other's brother was bold enough to do so without a care in the world, but Rook hated being on the other side of his boyfriend's temper. It wasn't exactly a common issue. Lam wasn't mean, in the same way that Rook needed his own personal time to soak in a bath tub alone. Only this time seemed to have backfired?

"I'm sorry." He said, muffling the rest of his languishing words in to the other's back as he pressed against him. Lam twisted around with an expression of justified annoyance. Rook would have been annoyed too if he was woken up by a big wet slap. "I don't know what's wrong. I just got.. upset." As much as Rook played the ditzy and odd boyfriend, he knew his life wasn't sunshine and roses. Looking too far into the past was dangerous for him. Yet he was even more the type to ignore his own problems, shrugging them off as ridiculous or dramatic.

This was probably pretty dramatic and dumb. Really, he was sad because a game made him reflect on how shitty his past was and how much he wished Lam had been there earlier. He was upset because he'd run away and never confronted his father and would likely always feel like a coward for it. "I was playing that dumb game I was talking about... it was weird like it knew us but it was different. You were there, back then with my dad. And everything was better and I just feel lucky to have you and I was missing you and stuff." He rambled off without a breath between words, all of his reasons becoming this amalgamation of words and emotion.

The last couple of times coming out, it had been harder for Rook to connect to the situation. Maybe he was too picky with his pokemon, or it just hadn't connected with him. He wasn't entirely certain what Lam saw in his "skills", especially when Lam seemed far more natural and at ease with pokemon and battling in general.

"Yeah, of course I am. Even if I wasn't being lucky, I'd still want to do this with you." Lam never pressured him, never made him feel any kind of expectation, it was nice. "Oh another one of those weird food dogs." He knelt down in front of the dachsbun. "Here little guy."
