Having successfully captured and pocketed the Spiritomb, his attention was pulled away by his boyfriend to the next critter to happen upon them. Things were really looking up though, weren’t they? Maybe Lam was right about this whole trainer thing?

“Wow I love him!” The stunky didn’t seem to love them though, by the way it was looking at them. Probably not a great idea to waltz up to it and try befriending it. He wasn’t sure how he felt about the idea of capturing pokemon that way, but surely they could make friends after the fact, right? He’d never really had to do that before. All of his current pokemon had been in some kind of need or immediately friendly with him.

He released Rosie from her ball and she meandered towards the foreign pokemon in the odd, disjointed way that she did. “Play rough.” She sprung forward, throwing the stunky off before he tossed a pokeball to capture. “Not sure it feels right this way, but…”

Rook smiled, hand lifting up to dust a little bit of dirt off the other's cheek. He'd never imagined that the day would go quite like this, but he certainly wasn't going to complain about it either. Lam was cute, heck... he was beyond cute. Maybe getting drunk wasn't the other's intent, but it sure happened fast. "I think we found out your mortal weakness." He laughed at that.

It was nice to leave the bar though, escape the energy inside to the crisp air outside. He turned around so that the other could hop up, arms angle out to catch his thighs. Only, instead, he was greeted by a surprise smooch on the mouth. His face heated up immediately and a dopey smile curled across his mouth before catching the other as he climbed up.

"Glad to be of assistance, just point the way to your house." With that, he started off in a direction, uncertain if it was the right way or not.

"Oh.... right." He said, a touch daft. He could be a little slow to the draw at times, though he didn't like to think himself dumb (even if he kind of was). "No... suppose it doesn't matter." Bad reviews would only impact future work, which he had no intention of doing so it really didn't matter. Of course, he still needed to make sure he got paid at all, in the end. He could work with that though.

Lam expertly worked the children's short attention spans (maybe it came from dealing with him and his short attention span, Rook didn't know). Inciting them with the promise of cake, well Rook was almost excited about getting cake, before remembering their only plan then was to get the heck out of dodge.

"Trainer? You... think I'm good enough to do that?" Rook wasn't so certain that he believed that. However, if Lam was going to do it with him, well that felt less scary. "I mean if you're going to with me... sure. Okay... Sounds fun." He wasn't confident, but there was something romantic about the idea. So, he took the other's hand and ran for the closest exit. Their time here was done.

"Don't you listen to him, you're unique and I love you." He said, with a beaming smile at the newly acquired Swalot. He knew that lam logan didn't exactly share his taste in the more... bizarre types, but that was okay. He at least accepted him for it and didn't think him too weird for his interests. That meant more to Rook than anything.

Pocketing the newly-filled pokeball, he was quickly confronted by yet another intriguing pokemon, a spiritomb. At least this outing seemed to be more geared towards his interests. Maybe it was a little selfish, he loved Lam's love for birds, but he did not love birds himself.

"Yeah..." Rook said, feeling his cheeks grow hotter at that question. Never had he heard something so matter-o-factly.

Maybe under some circumstances, he'd think it totally unromantic but considering how this had come to be, there really was nothing more hallmark than running into your crush and confessing your feelings, right? So, he'd allow it. Mostly because the idea of kissing Lam right then was too good to dare give up for the sake of his sickly-sweet sensibilities.

"Woah!" Rook jumped, caught off guard by the sudden tumble. Immediately, he sat up, angling around to see how he could help. "Are you okay?" Despite himself, he couldn't help but laugh. Quickly, he covered it up with his hand before hooking his arms under the other's to lift him upwards. "I'm not very strong but..."

That looked like it hurt though, so he felt a little bad for laughing. He just couldn't help himself with the turn of events. It didn't seem real. It felt more like a movie. "I think you've had enough to drink." He untangled to the other's leg from the rung and then helped him up. "Let me walk you home."

Not that he'd forgotten that this event had unfortunately interrupted their kiss, he wasn't going to bring it up now. "You want a piggyback ride?"

Without the Snubbull to distract the children, they were steadily getting overrun. Kids were mean, a lot more than Rook realized. Then again, he'd never been able to be snotty without consequence. Most of these kids had nothing to fear, especially with their parents sipping wine and laughing in the kitchen without a care in the world. Typical.

"Okay, what's your plan?" He said with a little squeak as he was used as a jungle gym by an over eager toddler. "It's an hourly commission so, technically I've already gotten money. It does get affected by reviews though." That was the upside and downside of this job, aside from the unwanted babysitting aspect of it.

"Oh wow, he's perfect!" Rook practically squealed, running in the direction opposite of whatever it was that Lam was currently looking at. Instead, he was hyper-focused on the gelatinous purple blob of unknown substance that was slipping through the undergrowth. A Swalot. He'd been looking for one for quite some time now.

"Hey there little guy!" Rook said excitedly as the pokemon looked up at him with a puckered expression of intrigue. Then it burped, very stinky. Possibly even toxic. "Oh wow, got a stomach ache? Hot springs, he'd been told and now felt like he'd been tricked. This felt like a betrayal of his trust, yet still kind of intriguing. He was out of his element, but that was hardly a new feeling for him. Not only was he meeting new people, but he was going to a new place. Hell, a new world. This was not what he'd planned for when he woke up that morning.

Not that he was about to bail on his boyfriend or even his boyfriend's friends. Rook didn't like to think of himself as a coward, but rather self-preserving. This seemed to go against most of his personal rules in his effort to stay alive. Still, an adventure was an adventure. He held Lam's hand, head tilted to the side in curiosity as the girl, Genevieve Cromwell , vanished before their eyes. One moment there and then gone. Amazing.

This was in the effort to be something, right? So he shouldn't be afraid, even if he was a city boy that knew garbage better than he did science and stuff. Lam was more of the nature boy than himself, though he enjoyed being outside as much as the next person. He just didn't have a lot of faith in himself handling a situation one might consider dangerous. What if Lam was in danger? Would he be able to handle that?

"Yeah." He said, smiling at Lam before abruptly pulling the other in. With a wild laugh, he yelled, "Three!" Before sinking into the coolness of water. It was a big change, on an instinctual level. The sudden fear of drowning crashing over him. Once again he'd fallen headfirst into unknown. But then he opened his mouth and... how strange. "Wow this place is weird." Then he saw the fish and knew they'd just signed up for Lam's worst nightmare.

Rook was often in a balancing act between excessiveness and frugality. A driving need to be romantic and expressive in his affections through materials, while at the same time being nothing short of a cheapskate. Lam didn't seem to mind this fact. Actually, he seemed to care so little about that kind of affection that Rook found it easier to relax a little on it. Expensive gifts weren't necessary with Lam and the other didn't see the difference between a fancy restaurant and a denny's. So really, maybe he shouldn't have even bothered with all the showiness, but that was a hard switch to turn off for him.

"Not sneaky, per say." He shrugged, not really certain what to say about it. Holidays were big deals for him, for some reason. Likely due to the fact he never got to celebrate them when he was younger. Holidays had been anxiety-riddled events, keeping out of the way of his father's ill-temper. For some reason, those days had always struck the older man harder and Rook had often been the target of that fury.

Though, now, he didn't have to worry about that, but he still felt anxious about making the holidays grandiose when they didn't need to be. Otherwise, he might miss out on newfound freedoms.

Taking the other's jacket, he smiled. "New years, of course." Maybe he shouldn't have left Lam to his own devices for so long. Alcohol tended to dampen the affects of things. What if he fell asleep and Rook did all of this for nothing? "Are you feeling swept off your feet yet? By me, I mean, not the alcohol."

Rook had begun to rely a lot on these times together, just him and Lam against the world. It was nice, sometimes quiet and sometimes filled with laughter and teasing. In truth, Rook wasn't sure where he'd be in life if not for Lam by his side. Nowhere good, at least.

Today was his chosen pick of the day. Sure, it wouldn't like have any birds for the other to collect, but Lam had... a lot of birds so maybe it was for the best. "How's your jacket, is it keeping you warm?" He'd gotten the jacket on sale, but it seemed to be a fairly good one. He wished he could afford better, but that was the plan right? One day, they'd be big.

I'm going to go diving. He'd told Lam as he'd dropped him off to meet with a friend. In hindsight, he did regret not simply spending the holiday with his boyfriend instead, especially after the other's friend had bailed on him. It wasn't possible though, he'd been too busy running around and getting everything ready. Lam probably didn't care either way. After all, Rook was the showy one. He liked the dramatics of the holiday and the date. He was big into themes. So, really, maybe this was more for himself than Lam, which was a little selfish.

After messing up so many times though, this felt like necessary proof that he was devoted to doing whatever what necessary to be the person Lam believed he could be. It was a bit crazy, maybe, but love made you do things. Granted, the only love he'd ever witnessed before was his parents, which was the wrong kind of love (he knew that now). He was thinking too much....

Maybe he'd made a mistake in leaving Lam to drink, knowing the other had the constitution of an old sponge. Though he'd wanted the other to hash things out with his brother, he hadn't realized the way they would do that was getting absolutely smashed. "Leif needs a night off the couch, it's for his back." He'd bullshitted an excuse, having asked the younger Logan brother for this small favor.

"You think I'm mysterious?" He asked, waggling his brows and leaning towards the other with the hint of a tease in his tone. He laughed, "No surprise, I'm just picking you up from your partying." Rook leaned against him at the kiss, slipping an arm around him (somewhat with the intent to make sure Lam didn't fall down said stairs). "I know, you told me. Like a lot."

The apartment was as he left it, luckily. The lights were set at a dim, romantic setting. The television was tuned to show a lit fireplace because they were too cheap to get an actual fireplace. Little white lights decorated the ceiling, though some of the tape he'd used had given and there was a sag in places. It wasn't perfect but it was still gosh darn cute. "Shall I take your jacket, Mr. Logan?" He said with a dramatic flair, stifling a little giggle.
