Johanna Joy is the Gym Leader of the Ever Grande City Gym. Approved and set up sometime after the Meteno Incident. Johanna has made a promise to help prepare young aspiring trainers for an unknown future! And perhaps even put a smile on their face while doing so.

The award for successfully completing a challenge at the Ever Grande JOY Gym will now reward trainers with a JOY BADGE as well as 1x Dazzling Gleam TM (one time use).

THE GYM

Found at the furthest outskirts of Ever Grande City. The Joy Gym grounds have suddenly sprouted out into a fantastical whimsical wonderland of decadent light and childish melodies. Humans and Pokémon alike can come here for a day of festive relaxation and fun filled daring do, in the company of the Gym Jesters and Trainer-Carnies.

But the biggest spectacle of it all is the center stage. Like a fanciful circus Arena it reaches for the skies. With a retractable roof, both audience and trainers stay protected from the natural elements while the Gym Challenge is proceeding. But of course no expenses have been spared in regards to Audience and trainer safety either.

EDUCATIONAL PURPOSE

Officially the purpose of the Gym is to teach the challengers to find joy in hard times. Dealing with difficulties in a positive manner is an ever increasingly important skill to have. Dealing with the frustration of difficulties, making sure you do not lash out at your Pokémon, but rather work together to overcome said difficulties.

Unofficially it is also about choice, dealing with the choices you make whether they come to fruition or not.

THE CHALLENGE

The Gym offers a variety of League sanctioned formats such as:

Currently the Choice Gym offers two modes of non-traditional challenges:

Using the amazing wonders of Terastelization science the Gym offers temporary Tera-types to challengers and Gym Trainers alike. But the technology is not perfect and so the Pokémon will automatically terastelize at the very beginning of the battle, forcing both trainers to deal with unknown typings.

(Trainer and Gym leader will roll twice in their first posts, and the type that corresponds with the each number will be the granted tera type assigned to a Pokémon of the players choice)

Using state of the art technology the Gym offers an ever evolving battlefield. Upon applying for a challenge the challenger will be allowed to make a choice of two battle effects they would like to see, and the same applies for the Gym Leader. Upon the start of the battle an effect will be randomly selected and applied to relevant parties / Battlefield.

(Each selected choice will be assigned numbers 0 - 25, 26 - 50, 51 - 75, 76 - 100, respectively. The Gym Leader will then roll in the same post to pick which effect is applied)

Possible Battle effects: (Effects that are considered perpetual cannot be removed by Pokémon moves, and will continue to apply even if other effects are applied as well)

1: Limit Break!: Mega Evolution lasts 6 Rounds before one must start rolling for exhaustion (At least one Pokémon on your team must be able to Mega evolve to pick this)

[break]
2: Smoke, Smoke, Smoke: The Arena will be covered in a perpetual Smokescreen. Only Pokémon with certain abilities will be able to see clearly here! (The accuracy of Pokémon without Keen Eye, Illuminate, Sniper, Super Luck, Analytic, Compound eyes, Forewarn or Stakeout is reduced significantly.)

3: Dance Dance Revolution: Z-moves can be used two additional times! (At least one Pokémon on your team must be able to use a Z-move to pick this)

4: The Grassy Hills of Oldale: A perpetual Grassy Terrain is applied to the battlefield.

5: Forward the Electricity bill to the Mauville Gym: A Perpetual Electric Terrain is applied to the battlefield.
[break]
[break]
6: The Mists of Mt. Pyre: A perpetual Misty Terrain is applied to the battlefield.
[break]
[break]
7: Brain Dance: A Perpetual Psychic Terrain is applied to the battlefield.
[break]
[break]
8: It’s Super effective, Not!: The battlefield is under the effect of “Inverse” typing.

[break]
9: It’s getting hot in here: The battlefield is under the effect of perpetual Sunny Day.

[break]
10: Bless the Rains in Route 111: The battlefield is under the effect of perpetual Rain Dance.

11: Oh Hail no!: The Battlefield is under the effect of perpetual Hail

RULES & REGULATIONS

‣ All challenges are recorded for educational and entertainment purposes. The battle itself will be done in front of an audience (The size which may vary) unless specifically requested not to be.[break][break]

‣ No 1HKO moves / Destiny Bond.[break][break]

‣ If a Challenger does not reply within SEVEN DAYS they are subject to thread archival. Challengers can opt for a one time SEVEN DAY extension.[break][break]

‣ Alternatively, if the Gym Leader does not reply within SEVEN DAYS, the challenger may be authorized to receive the badge.[break][break]

‣ No known members of Rocket are authorized to challenge this gym. Please note that your aliases/personas will need to be very convincing given Johanna’s record with Team Rocket..[break][break]

‣ Challengers are NOT allowed to permanently harm, maim, or kill. Furthermore, no-one is to cause permanent destruction or damage, or act with blatant disregard for the area around them.[break][break]

‣ No legendaries, ultra beasts, etc. are allowed to be fielded without prior approval. This includes AVATAR ABILITIES. Communicating with your legendary through telepathy, or some other form that does NOT require having it on the field is AUTHORIZED.
