“LADIES AND GENTLEMEN AND ANYONE IN BETWEEN!” The Jester walked onto the battlefield as he called the attention of the crowd seated around the circus arena.

“IT IS WITH GREAT PLEASURE THAT I CAN ANNOUNCE THAT THE QUEEN OF JOYLAND, JOHANNA JOY, HAS GRACIOUSLY OFFERED US YET ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO WHAT IS SURELY GOING TO BE A SPECTACULAR MATCH.”

The spotlight moved to the entrance corner from which the Blue haired Jester Queen, adorned with a playful but tasteful jester-queen costume waltzed out, waving at all who had come to see her.

Excited cheers followed her with each wave of her hand.

Alongside the Gym Leader a cheerful Mushroom hop and skipped along, waving equally as excited.

“BUT WE CAN’T HAVE A BATTLE WITHOUT A CHALLENGER. A POKÉMON COSPLAYER WELL KNOWN IN THE WORLD OF POKÉMON CONTESTS, BOASTING MORE THAN A HUNDRED FOLLOWERS. IT’S NONE OTHER THAN Andrea Vaneau”

The spotlight follows the trainer as she would make her way to her position. Along the way she would be bombarded with excited cheering from the onlookers.

“The rules for Today’s match are simple.” No longer required to build hype, the jester-announcer allowed the microphone to carry his voice in a more normal manner. “It’s a traditional One vs One, first to knock out the other wins. Forfeiting is allowed, but where is the fun in that? First move goes to the challenger”

“And with that.” He looked from one challenger to the other making sure both had summoned their respective Pokémon (One Shiinotic and one Hydreigon)

“Let the battle begin.”

And the Jester disappeared in a fantastical display of wizardry and showmanship.

It was time to challenge another Gym. The Ever Grande circus was loud, flamboyant, and extravagant. It was a bit much, to be honest. Contrary to what one might think based solely on how she dressed, Andrea did not feel comfortable being the center of attention.

Despite her insecurities, the young cosplayer took her introduction with stride, entering the arena clad in her Hydreigon-inspired Sygna Suit. “Thank you, everyone!” She waved at the wailing crowd with her sock puppet of a hand.

Without further ado, the battle was underway. Given the opportunity to move first, Chomper used it to do a bit of set up, getting Worked Up for the tough battle ahead.

The crowd loved the waving back. They loved Andrea for what she inspired them to be. And responded in kind with cheering.

The battle began.

Shiinotic took to the field. It watched as the Hydreigon worked itself up into what seemed like a Frenzy to the calm fungi.

Shiinotic figured it would help calm the Hydreigon down. And so with a little shaking of its mushroom head it send a wave of SLEEP POWDER toward the Hydreigon.

Chomper was worked up alright. Perhaps a bit too worked up. “Calm down, Chomper. It’s just a friendly battle. Nobody’s in danger!” Andrea declared. Her companion was known for his bad temper, but the situation required focus and serenity.

Channeling some of her inner CALMNESS into her Sygna Suit, the draconic cosplayer gave Chomper the EVASION he needed in order to avoid falling asleep by the opponent’s spores.

“Now, Fire Fang!” The dragon fanatic exclaimed, as her shiny Hydreigon attempted to bite into the tasty toadstool with jaws coated in flames.

Calmness prevented the Hydreigon from falling asleep.

Johanna was taken by surprise, but realized that perhaps it was the effect of one of those Sygna Suits. She noted down the usefulness of such a piece of clothing, and vowed to get one of those one day.

As for the battle. Shiinotic just barely dodged fire covered fangs. The expression on its face quite clearly revealed the discomfort the proximity of the flames brought him. Hoping to push away the dragon and its fiery maw, Shiinotic allowed a wave of rainbow colored DAZZLING GLEAM to shoot out from its body.

The Dazzling Gleam was super effective, forcing the three-headed dragon to reel backwards. “It’ll take more than that to take us down! RAAAAAAH!!” Andrea roared in tandem with her shiny Hydreigon, their combined RAGE turning into a boost in STRENGTH.

With said boost, Chomper went for another Fire Fang, his voracious jaws lighting up like a literal Hellmouth.

The combined display of rage exhilarated the crowd, they began to cheer louder, hoping to add their strength to the Hydreigon as well.

Shiinotic tried to jump out of the way of the fiery fangs but found itself too slow.

The clenching fangs of fire dug deep into its mushroom flesh or so it felt. It grimaced in pain, found itself shaking for a brief moment from the pain before it managed to compose itself enough to send a DAZZLING GLEAM point blank at her opponent.

Another Dazzling Gleam hit the Dragon-type for super effective damage. By this point, the damage was piling up. “Chomper!” Andrea cried out with WORRY, causing her Sygna Suit to activate once more. The Hydreigon’s wounds began to GRADUALLY HEAL.

Feeling rejuvenated, Chomper attempted to once again sink his hungry jaws into the tasty toadstool, only this time he went for a different elemental fang - Ice Fang.

The rejuvenation left Chomper with a decided advantage. Unfortunately Shiinotic did not share the same Sygna bond.

And so Shiinotic found itself at the mercy of the Hydreigon’s freezing fangs. Before the mushroom could jump out of the way, it felt coldness take its arm, leaving it unable to escape.

In this position it had one chance, and should it fail this would be game over. A pink white glittering ball appeared in its free hand, only for the mushroom to throw it forward as a MOONBLAST.

The Moonblast found its target, undoing the effects of the Sygna Suit's healing. Panting heavily, Chomper had clearly exhausted much of his vitality, but he still had some fight left in him. The mere thought of losing to such a puny-looking Fairy-type filled the overzealous dragon with pure RAGE.

"Almost there, Chomper! One more Ice Fang!" The draconic cosplayer cried out, her shiny Hydreigon mustering the last of his remaining STRENGTH to bite into the enemy one more time with its frosty jaws.

Rage gave Chomper the power to push through the pain and attack once more. The ICE FANG bore down upon the Mushroom-man and with it the last threads of fighting-spirit was violently ripped from it.

Shiinotic’s legs buckled beneath the weight of its own body. It hit the ground with a light thud and moments later the victory fanfare was provided to the challenger Andrea Vaneau.

Johanna recalled her Shiinotic, left the trainer area and walked with jovial steps toward the dragon-cosplayer. As she did she retrieved a small glinting badge from one of her pockets and once she got close enough, she would hand it to Andrea with the words.

“You’ve won. Congratulations. This is yours now. I hope you had fun.”
