Realistically, she probably should be worried for her safety. Most people would be. A city of criminals, talking to a terrorist… it’s like something out of one of her movies. Perhaps that’s why it doesn’t bother her all that much; because her perception of the world is different from that of most people. Perhaps it’s because Team Rocket hasn’t done anything that particularly affects her (not yet, at least). Or, perhaps it has to do with the fact that the world is fucking ending. It may just be a combination of all those things.

Whatever the case, Fae just enjoys her drink, noting the way he laughs at her response. She assumes most people are probably a tad more afraid when recognizing him.

”Hmm… Wonder what’s worse to deal with: cops or paparazzi.” In her experience, the latter, but none of her past run-ins with the police (there have been a few) have been because she’s a wanted criminal. ”I guess the prospect of being kidnapped and tortured into silence or killed is enough to keep most unwanted people away, huh?”

Sootopolis City.

Fae had figured she might as well see what all the fuss is about, because everyone in Hoenn seems to always go on about the city that is under Team Rocket’s control. She hadn’t been here for the siege, she hadn’t been here when the Tree of Life became gigantic and could apparently be seen from everyone in Hoenn, and she most definitely hadn’t been here when whatever-that-thing’s-name-is had attacked the city and opened a portal into Ultra Space or whatever. She had heard about all that, though.

So, what’s her opinion of Sootopolis? It has a neat aesthetic, but in the end, it’s just like most cities. It may be more heavily guarded and illegal activities may take place, yet it’s money that does most of the talking. Take Casino Starlight: full of the League’s civilians and Team Rocket members alike – an apparently neutral space in this city of crime.

At least the poker tables are decent. Fae has always liked games of cards.

For now, she just sits at the bar after a couple of wins, enjoying a mojito when someone sitting nearby addresses her as that actress. Typical. Nothing new. Even in a city full of criminals, she’s still Fae Madden.

”I’ve heard worse.” She responds with ease, her gaze falling upon the man who results more familiar than what she expects. Her eyes narrow, they’re bright colour of dandelions.

”...And you’re that terrorist, right?” A smirk, slight yet sharp as a knife. ”You sure you don’t want that autograph?”

She seems utterly unbothered, and she goes on to take a sip from her drink as if nothing.

The Zigzagoon whines at the mean remark, but Fae ignores him, heading for the stairs that lead to the exit while retrieving a carton of cigarettes from her frilly apron’s pocket.

She had let Pop have his fun, but now that people are starting to recognize her, she’d rather go home, change, and enjoy the rest of the night.

What Amor Rose doesn’t know is that Fae actually likes Melody Miro – they had gone hiking together recently and it had been a good time! What Fae doesn’t know is that he is indeed ’the guy who bitch smacked Melody through a wall.’ If she were aware of that, then this conversation would go much differently.

Or, in her case, ignorance is mild annoyance because apparently that’s her default state when speaking to most people.

”Eh… It’s alright, for the most part. I don’t mind people recognizing me as long as they’re not weird about it.” Paparazzi are weird. Hyper obsessed fans are weird. People who just politely ask her for a picture or autograph, though? She has grown used to those. They’re fine as long as they don’t get in the way of her plans.

Take for example the person answering the door to the next apartment. It’s a middle aged woman who, after giving Amor and his Pikachu their candy, simply looks at Fae as if she were suddenly frozen. She chuckles an explanation then:

”Arceus… Sorry, I just–... Are you Fae Madden? I heard you were in Hoenn. I’m a huge fan of your work! Do you mind if we take a picture together?”

Fae simply gives her a slight smile, the kind she’s used to giving people like these. ”Sure.”

After the selfie (including her Zigzagoon, of course), she just walks over to the next door as if nothing had just happened.

Most electric type pokémon aren’t really Fae’s style (other than Morpeko, perhaps), but the Pikachu in its little costume is admittedly pretty damn cute, and there’s a faint smirk when watching it puff up its cheeks. It fades away with the question, though, and she does no more than look at the stranger.

”Hmm… You might have. I get that a lot.” She shrugs, because it’s not like she has never been asked that before. It’s the typical sort of question she has come to expect – a lot of her movies and TV shows are pretty damn popular, so it’s not surprising that people recognize her for them. Still, she doesn’t clarify immediately. Going around being all “Well, duh, I’m a movie star” doesn’t suit Fae. Sometimes it's nice to act like a regular person.

”Fae.” She responds to the introduction while her Zigzagoon grabs a cookie with its little paws. Unlike the man who had introduced himself as “Amor”, Fae does decline when the elderly woman offers her one too, noticing the way she narrows her eyes as if she too were about to recognize her. ”It’s nice to meet you too, Amor.”

”Oh.” Fae pauses when the man addresses her, looking at him. He’s wearing a costume she doesn’t quite recognize, but admittedly she also doesn’t take the time to properly look at it. She’s more preoccupied with what he says.

Golden eyes wander over the hallway, searching for her Zigzagoon. The door of the apartment opens, and an elderly man dressed as a scarecrow steps out to offer them candy. Around the corner, she can see the slightest peek of Pop’s nose sniffing as if he could smell the treats from there.

Her eyes roll, but she steps up to get candy for her pokémon all the same, and of course, the moment she does, the Zigzagoon runs to her side, its pink tongue lolling out of its mouth.

”Thanks.” Fae tells the strangely-dressed man once the door closes, and then she does no more than shrug. ”He gets excited about treats.”

Halloween has always been Fae’s favourite time of the year.

Hoennian Halloween, though? It’s nothing like how she’d celebrate it in Unova, that’s for sure, but even when the threat that’s the meteorite is ever so visible in the night sky, she refuses to let this Halloween (potentially her last Halloween) suck.

She had gone to an event dressed in a bit of a questionable maid outfit, a reference to one of her most well known TV roles, and now that the event is over, it’s while she’s on her way out of Mauville that the Galarian Zigzagoon by her side wanders away in a rush.

Have you ever seen those videos of cats jumping away in fear because their owner puts a cucumber right next to them? Well… That’s how Lipschitz reacts the moment the Paras shoves one of its mushrooms right in his face.

This time, he does hiss, jumping away and falling off the slide in the process. It’s loud, a proper ruckus, and it sure doesn’t help that he lands near where he had thrown the first mushroom. Puffed-up, with his back forming a perfect arch and his tail appearing more like that of a Zigzagoon than a Purrloin, he stares at the bug, his large ears being pressed flat against his head.

It’s then that FURY SWIPES cut right through one of the offered mushrooms.

Fae would never admit to it, but as cold, mean, blunt, and occasionally bitchy as she can be, she usually doesn’t have the heart to say no when someone asks her for help… as long as it’s reasonable, obviously. Helping with looking after the pokémon in a daycare because the actual attendant is dealing with an emergency? That’s reasonable enough, and given the fact that there’s no way she’ll make it to her actual appointment by now, it’s not like she has anywhere better to be.

”And leave you to look after all these pokémon and the daycare all on your own? Yeah, don’t think so,” is the immediate response she gives the man who had introduced himself as Caleb Harcourt. The Zigzagoon is put in the playpen with the rest of the pokémon, and as she had expected, it immediately runs off to play with the Growlithe and Purrloin.

It’s then that she turns to look at the ranger once more. At least she’s wearing heels today, so the insane height difference between them isn’t as jarring.

”I’m Fae.” A pause, watching him and his pokémon. ”...Nice Umbreon.”

She can always appreciate a dark type pokémon, after all.

While they talk, something seems to catch Cicero’s attention. He steps away from the rock, walking towards the bushes where a Skuntank watches the pair with KEEN EYES. There’s a friendly greeting towards the Mightyena, clearly meaning no harm, and since that’s the case, Cicero returns the gesture.

”I’m kind of stuck here, so I figured I might as well find things I like about it.” Her attention turns to the pokémon, watching the way they seem to be becoming friends before looking at the stranger once more. Fae smirks then. ”It’s not too bad, for the record. Apocalypse and all.”

Eyebrows form almost perfect arches when being told she’s “kind enough to help out” , and inevitably so, the sound of a dry chuckle rises in the air. Is that what she is now? Kind? Helpful? A philanthropist? Her manager would love to hear stuff like that; those are the kind of tricks he has always wanted her to use for the sake of her image.
