The audible heels clack, though it's not enough to snap her out of a trance. After her name is spoken, she hears the rushing blonde woman, and Genny snaps to. She's staring at the woman in front of her. The blonde is to the point, and while Genny hadn't been scratching away at her itchy skin, she knows it's the nurse's job.[break][break]

"Katharina," she lets the name sit on her tongue, as Kat reads over her file. While the Audino smiles and waves, Genny tries to smile, as Lucky bounces in place, hopping up and down on his little wheelies. His bark of hello was what Audino wanted.[break][break]

Genny forces her smile though, as she speaks.[break][break]

"Thank you, Nurse Kat," she takes her hand and pulls herself up, as she gets the crutches ready. Her legs shake until the crutches are ready as she places the smaller crutches below her armpits, and begins to follow Kat. With the clickety-clack of two wheels, Lucky runs ahead with much excitement in his run. The little speed demon Yamper, even with only two feet, runs like he has all four.[break][break]

Hitoshi Inoue had done a number on her. Having to cauterize the grievous life-threatening wound closed with fire was troublesome, and she knew the adrenaline would run out eventually after their struggle. When it finally did, and she had lost consciousness, her body had to recover.[break][break]

Adrenaline kept her going for awhile that day.[break][break]

As she follows, Genny's focused fully on the nurse, trying to keep up. She asks. "Is physical therapy... hard?" Genny asks in a worried hushed tone. She's never experienced it herself. She doesn't know.

It's not official business. It's volunteer work. The waters are calm now, but the damage is done. She's not even good enough to be out of bed.[break][break]

And yet, Genny flies in atop her Aerodactyl. Shale had looked different as of late, a lot more focused, but a lore more furious. Pointed, somewhere far and away, towards a faction that broke the person that meant more to her than anything. Fury bleeds in her eyes, like knives, as she flies. And by time they reach their destination, Genny would get on the docks, landing herself there, with two crutches to her side to lean on.[break][break]

Pacifilog. The last time she'd been here, a Gyarados had attacked. And she had met someone who would be far too important to her. A pink-haired woman, who she came to know as a best friend. Back then, she looked happier, but compared to now, she must have looked like the sun. Now, she looked like an eclipse, covered by bandages like the moon steps in front of that shiny orb in the sky. With the actual sun enshrouded by clouds, it set the stage...[break][break]

But nothing compared to the damage. Houses were destroyed. When she walks by one such grieving mother, she can only hear the tears and screams, the little stonework made next to what remained of her home... littered with an epitaph that breaks her heart.[break][break]

Shale walks with her. But to her side, a little cat, no bigger than halfway up her leg, comes out. A stray, that sits oh-so-lovingly on the dockside, and stares at Genny. A Litten that stares on, and sees this poor girl. He tilts his head quietly to watch her.[break][break]

The woman doesn't watch where she's going, smacking headfirst into an older gentleman carrying a number of boxes, where Genny falls over, bruising from the landing as the boxes fall and break upon the dockside. Instead of an apology, the older man glares with a scruffier, angry look in his eyes, deciding to bruise her ego.[break][break]

"Watch where you're going, girlie. You'd think the League would send someone halfway decent to help."[break][break]

His voice is filled with pain and hate, an agony in his tone as if he had lost something dear to him. His eyes look tired, like they've seen enough pain and suffering, like Hoenn in general, like everyone in this region. He didn't need to be rude, or hateful. He didn't need to be angry, but he had to send that pain somewhere.[break][break]

Shale nearly snarls out in retaliation, but Genny just takes it. There's no sense in hurting those who follow the League, there's nothing but more pain. No reason she can't take this too. She's the Shield of Hoenn, right?[break][break]

That means... even if it hurts, even if those she would defend take it out on her, she can take it.[break][break]

Right?

Today is therapy day. Muscle atrophy isn't the issue. Scars and wounds riddle the body, but they're not what holds her back. Simple rest and relaxation are needed with wounds like these, time is needed with wounds like these. A body covered in healing wounds, bandages that wrap around her arms, her legs, her body, all of them cover away, and while they do help, it isn't the problem. It's something else entirely.[break][break]

Internal.[break][break]

The emotional support of a two-legged Yamper, barking and yipping as he follows with his two back-prosthetic wheels, as she walks with crutches down the interior ramps. Lucky stayed happy, to keep her mood up at all times. Therapy was needed on all three levels, but in this way, she would have it physically in her session for today.[break][break]

The nurse in charge of her recovery, whose name she only knew by the nickname 'Kat', she had not met before. But she was newer, and Genny had never worked at a clinic with her before. Volunteer work from years ago did not tell her much. But with Lucky by her side, she would find a means to understand.[break][break]

As she enters the Pokemon Center lobby, waiting patiently in what feels like a waiting room, she pulls away her facial bandages, a small mirror out as she looked at healing wounds. Her body was in rough shape, burns on her back heavy with nerve damage, and while her face seemed intact, she definitely looked like she'd been a veteran of war, and with each new wound, she feels more fragile. She can hear it.[break][break]

Kyogre's roars.[break][break]

She's woken up at night multiple times lately, as if she's still falling. Every time she wakes, she hits the ground, gasping for oxygen as she cries. She hadn't messaged Isaac Merlo yet. It's better not to worry him. Maybe he'd come see her. Maybe he wouldn't. She doesn't know, but worrying him, when he has his own problems, that's something she won't do.[break][break]

Maybe when she's stronger. She's not strong now... that's what therapy is for.[break][break]

So she sits, awaiting for her nurse to arrive. Lucky is seated at her feet, eyes towards the lobby area.

Lucky is exuberant, the yips and yaps he makes, as he bounces up and down, his little leg-wheels making clickety-clacks as he bounces, and he goes right for the treat, moving to scarf it down. Lucky was always such a happy man, even when inhibited by birth deformities. He was a lovely little Yamper, who just wanted to live life the best he could. No matter what inhibited him, he tried. He tries, and tries. And the one task, to put a smile on her face, to genuinely brighten up her world, was one he would move mountains to do.[break][break]

Lucky smiles, a face covered in that treat, licking his face. And Genny tries to smile. It's not enough.[break][break]

Genny hears his words. His explanation. Avatars, what they are, what he believes they are. A blessing, a burden, an ally, a liability. Her eyes continue to follow the Taillow, as he speaks, and all she can do is ponder it. He sketches, preparing his paint, and in return, she stares on.[break][break]

"Sorry. It's been on my mind lately," she tries to give him an apologetic smile, but it comes out awkward and pitiful.[break][break]

Her smile disappears, and Lucky seems to whimper, eyes on Genny, as he does the classic move, and pushes his head into her leg. She tries to pet him, and he's trying best he can to make her feel better. Lucky is trying so hard. If Paxton looks hard enough, he might even see little puppy tears.[break][break]

The roar of Kyogre reverberates when she recalls the feeling of taking that ORIGIN PULSE head-on. She tunnel visions ahead of herself. And then she's looking ahead, at that Taillow again, the sweat on her face apparent.[break][break]

"Overall a problem that only other Avatars can handle. Right?" She's steadfast on that proclamation. Her hands are shaking, a harsh tremble pushing through her hands.

It's after Sootopolis. After she wakes up. After her talk with Navy in that Ever Grande hospital, when she begins walking again. For a while, she's looking out the world, a canvas of familiarity every day. Nihilism paves a way for doubt, doubt colors over the canvas. Even now...[break][break]

She still feels like she's falling through the air, endlessly into the deep sky. A small fear had pushed through from the war in Dewford, all stemming from that one Rocket (jayden cross), and made worse in Sootopolis after Kyogre's attack. She fell so far...[break][break]

Shaken.[break][break]

There is comfort in today, as she walks on her crutches, her companion Pokemon for the day is the little Yamper with only two legs, and two wheels for his back legs, quietly moving forward with a pant.[break][break]

Today, she had a meeting with paxton concordas, and she wouldn't miss it. But she could feel her fears crippling her. She had made this appointment for a couple of reasons. It'd been hard to get into contact with him, due to Rocket, his own work, everything. She didn't need to rely on him, but today she found comfort; a rare feeling these days. So when Officer Concordas speaks, she limps her way over, placing the crutches beside the bench.[break][break]

"Offi... Paxton." she says his name, she speaks it for what feels like the first time. Usually so formal, broken down now to familiarity and shaken resolve. But one piece? It doesn't even feel real. She smiles weakly, not sheepishly, as she looks out aimlessly ahead.[break][break]

"Yes. I do," she starts, as Lucky seats himself down, relaxing now with pants and eyes at Paxton, happy to be there, to be included in Genny's life, to help her through this. "As you know, I stayed. I kept being a Ranger, and fought in this war..."[break][break]

She leans back, and watches the Taillow fly towards the fountain, and drink. "What do you know about Avatars? No reports, just... you."

After taking that ORIGIN PULSE head-on, Genny fell into the waters as they had just begun to lower. But it felt like the plummet just kept going. She had fallen unconscious in the blast, and in the air. And for the majority of the time between then, and now, Genny had been unconscious.[break][break]

Days go by. She's falling.[break][break]

A good thing to come out of this, was the rekindling of a friendship, with the most unlikely pup. Lucky the Yamper, who she had met in a hospital far-and-away, a little charity work she had done, a moment only Melody Miro knew. But allegedly, while Genevieve was on oxygen, the little Yamper never once left her side, not for food, not for water. Despite having no back legs, and two little wheels that let him walk like a normal pupper, little Lucky stayed. Every morning when he woke up, he'd lick her cheek weakly, before crawling back to her side. Every doctor that shoved a needle found the most ferocious little man growling, as if to say 'Don't you hurt her! Ever!' Even though he couldn't take his two wheels to bed, he would growl. No matter how big, imposing, or scary the visitor is, Lucky was always bigger.[break][break]

Enough adhesive was around Genny that the ratio between skin and bandage was slanted closer to the bandages. The copious scars litter her body, covered by cheap linens, polyester, and broken dreams. But even so, she refused to wake up. She just kept falling. The blast had made her fall down endless, and in her unconscious mind, she would never know when she hit the ground.[break][break]

When her eyes open, she finally hits the ground. In the fluffy hospital bed, as she jolts upwards, like she just landed. The deepest breath in, like a dying gasp, as she looks around herself. She was freaking out, and as she grabbed to her side, she holds tightly to fur. 'Huh?' she looks down, and her hazel eyes burn in the light. Her heart racing so fast, she might have arrhythmia.[break][break]

Lucky, whining and rubbing into Genny's hand. Her face is riddled in sweat, but his is pleading. Pleading for Genny to come back. To be okay.[break][break]

She calms down. But she can't help but fall, every time she closes her eyes.[break][break]

A visitor? Genny's sleepless-addled brain hadn't been able to rest fully. By sheer stubbornness, she kept awake. The fear of falling staved off the sleep. But, the visitor would help her greatly, as Lucky slept by her side.[break][break]

"Sheriff," she regards him, a little death in her words like the fall had taken from her. But Lucky would stay asleep, even with the sleep giving him the puppiest puppy dream around. Careless, thoughtless.[break][break]

She did well? She didn't. All she did was keep one life alive. Her own lives alive. She can still see that League member, who she believed she met before in Remiel Calcifet, letting him fend for himself to punch upwards at the heavens. She stays quiet, the failure pulling at her heart, and dragging her down into her own depths.[break][break]

"You'd have been fine without me, Sheriff." How insignificant she was, even with the thought of dahlia goode thinking otherwise. Even with every League member who might think the contrary, the contrary was a farce. She held no badge, she held a title of Ranger that meant she was in the game longer than others. Navy was an Avatar. They all were Avatars. They were all strong by gods in a game of gods, where only they decide how things go. Navy just happened to fit the mold. As many others did, League or Rocket.[break][break]

Many. Not Genny. Still not strong. Enough to see how far she had come, not far enough to clash with titans. She fell a long, long way down now.[break][break]

"But thanks," she wouldn't deny him his words though. All while Lucky whined loudly. Her other Pokemon, sat comfortably in their balls. Healed and restored. Bulu's ball was there too. Bitterness holds her tongue, resentment internalized towards herself.[break][break]

"Of course. Another fucking Avatar." Genny seethes, cursing like acid spit from her lips.

A break would be nice for most, but with a workaholic brain, she felt nothing but unrest. If she didn't feel like she was doing everything she could, she wouldn't feel like she was doing enough.[break][break]

"A small break couldn't hurt," the Ranger smiles, as she follows in step behind Daphnee, eyes behind her as the Wailmer are slowly traveling best they can in the water with them. They may not be able to save the eggs that haven't hatched yet, but these newborns could live happier lives.[break][break]

Maybe that was enough.[break][break]

"Thank you, Daphnée."

Daphnee informs Genny the best course of action would be the way she came from, confirming as much with the way being clear. Genny's heart can finally rest.[break][break]

"Good, we'll go that way then," she calls out, rubbing at her eyes, as Balmung finishes eating the barricade of metal.[break][break]

With a quick scan around them, with the baby Wailmer just quietly shooting tiny water spouts for Titan's enjoyment, Genny would return Balmung, and point forward.[break][break]

"Lead the way, Daphnée!"

"Daphnée! It's a pleasure!" she tries to respond with a level of professionalism fitting for someone who just had a load taking from her shoulders. With her smile, Genny feels more at ease. Deferring to Genny's experience though, that has the redhead scratching at her cheek. How to handle that...[break][break]

As she scratches her cheek, and Balmung continues to eat away at metal, she turns towards the blood in the water.[break][break]

"These Wailmer need to get to safety... I also believe there are a clutch of eggs beneath the waters, nearest where the maternal Wailord is crushed under. Things are stable for now, but if nothing is done, I fear those Wailmer eggs may be crushed, and the newborns in the same state of their mother." Genny explains, rubbing to her face, looking with a pained expression riddled on her face.[break][break]

"For now though, there isn't much we can do if all of them go. We just need to secure an escape route out of here." Genny responds. It's the lesser of two evils, but it isn't a pleasant choice she likes making.[break][break]

"Where did you come from? Is it safer?" Genny is pleading here. Her eyes are filled with hope.
