THE MAIN BUILDING is hard to miss: a recently-constructed library in the north-eastern corner of Littleroot. The inside is fairly modest: it's a single floor with a wide variety of media one can read or watch. It's designed to be easy to traverse for people with physical disabilities, and there is a good amount of material for people with visual disabilities in particular.[break][break]
A plethora of doors lead into countless rooms. Some are simply used by those wanting to study in peace, others for activities held for the community. While daunting for a first-timer, there are plenty of staff willing to help out, a mixture of humans and Pokemon, the latter leaning towards PSYCHIC-TYPING and FAIRY-TYPING.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE
 MANY CHAOTIC EVENTS HAVE BEEN OCCURRING THROUGHOUT HOENN, from the Wilds to Dimensional Travel to Rocket Invasions, and a trainer must be ready to handle themselves in whatever ordeal they find themselves in. Whether that be battling in an environment alien to them, or even being caught in a situation where the normal rules of reality don't apply, this Gym aims to test one's preparedness and ability to adapt to unconventional situations. Should they be able to persevere, they can earn the Ordeal Badge.
TRADITIONAL CHALLENGE
The battle takes place within a soundproofed room, built to withstand a battle. The room itself is fairly barebones, but it won't be like that for long.[break][break][break][break]
Formats include 1v1 singles and 2v2 doubles. It's a straightforward Pokemon battle where the winner is decided on the last party standing - or upon the opposing party's surrender. However, through the use of Psychic Pokemon and Psychic Terrain, the environment itself may change radically to the fantastical. The battles themselves are held by the Gym Leader, though certain occasions may involve one of the staff (human or Pokemon) handling it.[break][break]
The public are permitted to watch these battles in-person, and they are announced beforehand, so there may be an audience who also get to experience what the challenger sees. All traditional battles are recorded, and the recordings are available for public viewing.[break][break]
TRADITIONAL RULES:
[attr="class","ynospace"] - Combat is freeform, but there is a limit to how many moves can be used per turn: In a 1v1, each Pokemon may use 2 attacks per round. In a 2v2, each Pokemon may use 1 move per round until their teammate is KO'd - then they may use 2 attacks per round.
- There is a persistent Psychic Terrain in effect in order to maintain the illusory environment. This has no mechanical effect for the battle, and will stay in effect even if another move alters the terrain in any way.
- There are no limitations for moves. However, do note that a mutual knockout with moves like Perish Song or Destiny Bond will be considered a loss for the challenger if they have no Pokemon remaining after their effects are complete.
- Mechanics such as Mega Evolution, Terastalization, Avatar abilities, Sygna Suits, and Z-moves are permitted. However, due to the lack of power spots in Littleroot, Dynamax cannot be used.
- No killing, maiming, or otherwise permanently harming, and no targeting trainers or audience members. This rule is strictly enforced.
- Please try not to cause too much damage during your battle. Some rooms are built for battle, but other people have to use them later. Intentionally trying to cause severe damage to the Gym building is grounds for immediate disqualification and anger from a certain blind League member.

NON-TRADITIONAL CHALLENGE
The non-traditional challenge takes place in a private room set up before-hand, with comfortable seating and plenty of Pokemon.[break][break][break][break]
Through a combination of Psychic Pokemon, Fairy Pokemon, and good old storytelling, you will be brought into a story through a dream, whereupon you have to accomplish a goal.[break][break]
What's the goal? Well, that depends on the story! And the choices you make can affect how things go, so the same story will play out differently for different people.[break][break]
There is a high chance that your character may encounter people or Pokemon from their past filling in roles of the story - which you will decide upon when the moment comes.[break][break]
It will play out as an open-ended adventure with Hideo narrating the story. Your character will progress through events, fulfilling prompts along the way until they reach the end. The types of prompts may vary: answering questions, small puzzles, playing out a battle, and so on. There will be little, if any, rolling involved, so it will be your actions that decide your progress - and your outcome.[break][break]
You will be able to choose one Pokemon you own to bring with you during the story, but the choice will be made during the thread rather than before - and how they appear may differ depending on the story and your choices. There may be restrictions depending on the nature of their appearance, but unless otherwise specified, they have full access to their entire learnset and all their abilities at the same time (both including what they naturally can learn, and what they've gained through site events). Mega evolutions, Z-moves, Terastalization, Dynamax, and Avatar Abilities are not carried in to the dream, though there's always the chance you may gain access to something similar to them.[break][break]
However, do note that it isn't truly your Pokemon that will be joining you in the dream - just a dream copy. They won't know anything that happens inside your dream.[break][break]
Beyond that, so long as you accomplish your goal, anything goes.[break][break]

TO APPLY FOR THE GYM CHALLENGE, please fill out the form below appropriate to what type of challenge you wish to take. Once you're added to the queue, you will have 2 weeks to start the thread; afterwards, challengers are expected to post within 10 days of the gym leader, or they may be disqualified. A 7-day extension may be granted once upon request.[break][break]
The Gym Leader, meanwhile, is expected to post within 14 days of the challenger; any longer, and the challenger may be rewarded the badge.[break][break]
There is no wait list, so spots are first-come, first-serve. Spots in the queue may be added/removed depending on how well Blue Star can handle playing a Gym Leader (and how life reacts to that).[break][break]
