The future perhaps? Or maybe the lover who'll always leave her at the altar.

She hesitates as she ponders the question presented to her, what happened to all these dead people in this dead sea? Why do they cry out for succor as they swim in the darkest depths, chained to their pasts by their own lamentations and regrets?

"It's simple really. Even as they marched forwards to the future, they could never tear their eyes away from the regrets that clung to their backs, the whispered words of their ancestors from just over their shoulders. It was only natural that they would trip up and fall eventually, they didn't know how to watch where they were going."

It was only a matter of course really, anyone with half a brain could figure out such a thing if they just thought about it for half a second longer than they already had. The only reason people die, is because they don't know how to properly look to the right future. That's all there is to it.

It's because it satisfies the animal urges in your brain in a way that's considered acceptable by conventional society. I just dig a little deeper into those animal urges and do practical studies. She almost sounds bored as she gives the explanation, and how couldn't she be, she knows all her words are just gonna bounce straight off this girl's brain anyways. Some people just aren't meant to understand one another, in Xenon's case, most people don't.

A dull pink mist blankets the field and a devious smile spreads across her face as she drops low, a sharp whistle blowing through her lips signalling Argon to do the same. Then, that whistle changes pitch. High, low. Low for five seconds, a little higher for three, then a sharp stop. The Gengar drops down to the ground and silently submerges itself into the terrain, phasing through solid matter like a Sharpedo diving deep into the ocean, only a single eye poking out as he searches for his prey. And once the Musharna is spotted in the fog...

A Shadow Ball rockets up from below to slam right into the psychic pokemon, the concentrated lamentation of the damned exploding up as Argon fully emerges from the ground, giving only a moment to react as the Gengar closes in on his target with a devious cackle!

She looks on with utter fascination as flesh and bone generate from seemingly nothing, as if she was watching a flower bloom from the ground in an instant, all illuminated by the soft pink light of a trickster god who was currently still thrashing her Pokemon without reprieve. Some might view this as a problem, but Xenon preferred to think of it as an opportunity to test the limits of a newly discovered species, like the modern scientist she was.

So she cut those fingers off yet again with another clean chop, completely ignoring his cries of agony as she picks up a bloody finger and experimentally sticks it in her mouth to taste it. "Hmm, real flesh and bone! You should be in a lab along with that god of yours, do you have any idea how many lives you could save if we just took your organs forever?" Xenon comments as she spits out the bloody finger and wipes the blade on Douglas's coat.

"Oh yeah, I guess my mask did fall off huh? Guess I'm just going to have to cut out your eyes to make sure you can never identify me." She says cheerfully as she starts bringing the knife closer to his eyes, only stopped by a stray comment from him a mere inch away. "Hmm, I suppose torture is pretty primitive... But your pet god is also kind of beating on my partner over there still-" She jerks the knife away and points in the general direction of the psychic beatdown, before bringing it back up to his throat and letting the cold metal rest on his jugular vein. "-which kind of puts me in a tight situation. So maybe if you call off your bratty little god thing, I can get around to running away instead of wasting my time cutting you apart and seeing if I can make a new you out of everything I cut off. Which I really wouldn't mind doing by the way, it would be pretty fun to see which one is considered the real Ship of Theseus."

A narrow swing and a miss, if she had drawn her sword beforehand she definitely could have made that kill, but no point lingering on past mistakes! The Scolipede drifts to a stop to let her trainer dismount and face the opponent head on, or at least that's the plan before she finds her feet suddenly gooed up in some strange substance the girl had thrown at them. Xenon at least reacts quickly as she leaps off of Radon once she spots the Musharna released, narrowly avoiding a blast of psychic energy decimating the poor bug and leaving it limp in the sticky hold of glue holding it down.

"If you were looking for a safe space, you should have stayed home instead of wandering into a war zone!" Despite the poor circumstances though, there's a sadistic mirth in the girl's voice as she throws out a pokeball to release her Gengar. His eyes glint with malice as he pins down the duo with a terribly Mean Look, before immediately moving into an evasive pattern to avoid any psychic counterattacks that could be coming their way.

Her twisted smile grows wider as she gazes upon the horror in his eyes, that's what she was looking for, that's why he couldn't be a part of that beautiful future! He didn't have the appropriate mindset, he was still too chained down by that convenient morality that was passed down to him, he didn't have the FIRE in his gut that would birth new ideals unfettered by the chains of the past!

"Nope!" If he didn't understand by now, surely that simple answer would tell him everything he needed to know about the girl standing before him. "I could give you any manner of excuses! I'm a member of Team Rocket, you're a Hoenn soldier. I'm just following orders, you know my face and you can't be allowed to live. But that's all just sloppy justification!" She laughs some more as Radon's body grinds against Cassius's, before suddenly unfurling and spewing a deluge of Toxic poison directly into the Machamp's face to try and get him to release her.

"I'm just killing you because I want to! That's the kind of future I strive for! A future where everyone is free to do as they want, where the strong crush the weak simply because they can! A future unbound by the shaky morality of the past!" As if to punctuate this very idea, Xenon's hand flies to her belt and unclips another Pokeball, throwing it out and releasing a fully grown Cacturne onto the field beside Radon. "Promethium! Fill him full of holes!" She shouts as the living scarecrow points a single spiky claw at Navy, knowing that Cassius couldn't both defend itself and its master at the same time.

"Mm, a bit weak, but fair is fair I suppose." Xenon mutters as she takes her hands off the nerd and moves alongside him instead, throwing her muscle into pushing the cart with Alba.

Of course he wasn't going to be able to get away just lazing about while she did all the work, a razor sharp eye sticks to him as she starts a conversation anew. "So nerd, what's your story huh? What wild series of events led you to joining a terrorist organization pushing a cart full of dangerous active explosives through an alternate dimension full of alien life that is almost certainly out to kill us right now?" The rampant cheer with which she laid out this sentence was honestly kind of disturbing, as if she were discussing something mundane like the weather or that last League battle with the Alakazam and the Crobat. "Cause me personally? I just didn't see any value in our current society, way too stagnant and boring for my liking. You gotta, SHAKE things up a little you know?" Maybe she shouldn't be shaking the cart full of explosives. But hey, gotta find some way to pass the time right?

A feminine voice appears from right behind Alba's shoulder as two hands slap onto his back, incredible force pushing him forwards into the cart and spinning him around to face Xenon. Why was she here? What was she doing? None of that mattered, she had had a job and now she was abandoning it to help out this poor grunt whose friends all abandoned him. Nevermind the fact that she was also a grunt who had similarly abandoned her comrades back at the base camp, it had taken way too long to get assigned a mission, so now she was taking initiative by helping this poor sucker out with pushing a cart filled with hyper deadly explosives. Hey look at that, we figured out why she was here!

"Don't worry, I'm not the type to linger on the past. Just gimme a quick apology and I'll help you get to where you need to go, you're definitely too weak and wimpy to be pushing this kind of thing all by yourself."

The knife is wrenched free from the soldier's hand with surprising ease as she flips it around into a reverse grip, already she's getting ready to stab this bastard right in his heart, but his heartfelt plea really seems to touch her as she gently smiles and flips the knife back into a regular grip.

"Well, since you asked so nicely, I won't stab you." Xenon says with a surprisingly sweet voice, completely flipping from the violent unhinged psycho she had been playing for the past few minutes.

And then she swings that knife right down on Doug's hand and lops a finger off in a single devastating cleave. "Call off the god or I'm taking the rest of your fingers too!" And she's right back to unhinged psycho as her eyes sharpen with deadly intent, one arm focused on holding down his hand while the other brings the knife painfully close to his other fingers to show she wasn't fucking around. She had no idea how long Argon would be able to hold up against the psychic thrashing he was surely taking right now, so the sooner she got this guy to cry for mommy the better!

Beautiful, oh so beautiful, the beauty of the future blooms before her~ Blood drips from open wounds as Xenon dances through the Ultra Deep, skipping along and caressing the cracked Pokeball in her hands with unbound adoration. Beams of multicolored refracted light illuminate the path ahead, the path to the future, the only way forwards. All that lay behind her was destruction and decay, all she could do was move forwards through the present to find her way out of this hellish dimension, to find her way to the future she so desperately wished to show the world~

Such euphoria she was in, such bliss, she was so happy that she didn't even feel the immediate need to kill the girl she spotted in the distance, she simply wanted to show her the beautiful future she had seen~ Tittering laughter echoes through the world as Xenon skips up towards Tsubaki with a grin, very obviously Rocket by uniform alone. She should be attacking, she should be killing, she should be doing her due diligence as a grunt of a terrorist organization, but all that can wait for now. For now, she simply wanted to show this girl the future~

"Ahahaha, hey there! Yoohoo, girlie~! What are you doing all alone in this nightmare dimension, waiting for a hot date with a guy?"

Alright so she had just gotten her ass royally handed to her in a fist fight, not great, not the best, but what's past is past, doesn't even matter anymore. What matters now is restoring her dignity as she patrols the cavern, if she can score some Pokemon off some unwitting League nerd than losing that intel won't even matter in the end. It's not promotion material certainly, but it's saving face! This is what's running through the mind of the Rocket grunt as she rides around Granite Cave looking for someone to mug, her Scolipede looking quite miffed as well by the rough series of events that had just occurred.

Thankfully it doesn't take long for her to find someone in this horrific warzone, a pink haired idol looking girl who definitely had no place being here. Xenon grins viciously as she taps her heels against the side of Radon to signal acceleration, laughing maniacally as the trainer and Scolipede charge the girl without hesitation to spear her right through the heart with a brutal Megahorn.

Hit is traded for hit, two dynamic punches slamming into the Scolipede's shell and rattling its brain as it spins past the Machamp and makes its way around for another hit. At a glance the blow was hardly even glancing, leaving little more than a scratch on Radon's tough shell as she turns and spins right for Cassius once more. But there's a wobble to her path that's noticeable, an after effect of such a refined strike delivered to precisely to the nape of its skull.

Once more Radon slams into Cassius with an even stronger strike than the last, grinding its tough carapace into his body for a few seconds before disengaging and winding up for yet another spinning strike. Cassius might not feel any anger, but Radon was most definitely pissed off as it lets loose a screech of insectile fury and goes in for yet another punishing Rollout.

"I saw the future you blind fool, a beautiful machine that would soar through the heavens and burn away our primitive roots! Ashes and smog enshroud the sky as an army of machines marches onwards, they look like the creatures we have allied ourselves with, but they're so much more! They're faster, stronger, smarter, a metal hand grips my throat and demands loyalty in a language none can understand, it is the future I built, the future I always strove for! It was Roko's Arbok after it had finally been completed, and it had come to reward me for being the only one faithful enough to see it built!" Xenon cups her face with a bloody hand as she preaches the word of her beautiful future, smearing her cheek with crimson and raising that cracked Pokeball to the sky as if it were a holy relic, to her it might as well have been.

Xenon was rather unfortunately out of patience for banter now as her sword strike is barely parried away (and really how is that even possible, this loser was using a pocket knife, what kind of ludicrous strength did he have?) and she draws her sword back for another thrust at his chest. Even more unfortunately for Xenon and Argon however, was the fact that this wasn't just any Legendary god of nature, but specifically a trickster god who reveled in making everyone's life much more miserable than they had any right to be.

An explosion of psychic energy throws Xenon's sword out of her hands as Doug's body is sent flying into hers, knocking her mask off in the process as the two trainers tumble to the floor in a pile of tangled limbs and furious anger. Her brain is foggy as she tries to process what the hell just happened and why her head hurts so much, but the glint of steel still in Doug's hand takes precedence over anything else.

"I'll even out your skull!" The girl screams as she lunges for the soldier's knife and mounts him from above, grabbing the knife still clenched in his hand and trying to wrench it out of his grasp before he could gain his bearings and find it in him to actually use the knife on her very vulnerable body.
