“Sure, I’ll hang onto this for you,” he continued as he then stripped the hotdog from the stick and fed it to the ‘useless Yamper’, Sumi—who excitedly accepted the food before running around in circles.

“Oy. The zoomies, again,” he groaned as he resisted the urge to smack both his palms towards his face. At the sight of the feline, he wondered…

“Is there enough room for the both of us?” he confirmed as he took a bite from his own hotdog.

“I wouldn’t want to terribly impose.”

Thankfully, him giving Arja the stink-eye for the past several days made her sober up.

At least the Mareanie was no longer actively (or even passively) having a pass at the Mantyke—who this time was the one who returned with something in her mouth.

“What, you found this alone? Or did Arja help?” he asked the Mantyke, who flapped her stubby fins in excitement.

“Nicely done.”

“Sumi!” he continued with the same exasperated voice once they were clear out of the maze, the Yamper shooting off like a rocket the moment she caught wind of the hotdog stand.

“Geez, I am so sorry,” he apologized as he scratched the back of his head with his hands. “I swear. I got her from someone who didn’t want the Yamper anymore, and they left in a hurry so… guess I got all the issues she brought along with her,” he continued with a sigh.

Thankfully, the… he couldn’t keep his eyes off the… he could fucking swear he’d seen that wildcat from somewhere. Unless he was mistaken…?

“You want a hotdog? ‘s the least I can offer you for the trouble,” he continued as he chased the Yamper down to aforementioned hotdog stand and ended up buying three hotdogs—two sandwiches and one on a stick.

He then offered one of the hotdog sandwiches to his companion.

Thankfully he’d gotten the note of sticking the earplugs back in because he knew just how fucking loud a Kommo-o’s Clanging Scales attack could get.

Unfortunately he still wasn’t allowed to go diving in the salt water because of the paper cuts (those stung like fuck, ouch) and therefore had to relegate diving duty to his Mareanie and Mantyke.

He… was still tossed on what nickname to give the Mantyke, since she wasn’t as sassy as the Mareanie was, so he would hold off on that—for now.

“Arja, I fucking swear if you fight here again I am going to toss a Pyukumuku at you in the face,” he grumbled as he gave the dual-type the stink-eye, who then cowered at his unusually angry tone before returning with something—the Mantyke was somewhere skimming the currents.

Okay, so at least the situation between his Mantyke and Mareanie had been sorted out—and now it was a race between the two to bring him back something first frim the surf!

(Look, in his defense, he had a paper cut on both of his hands; and diving in salty water would only exacerbate the injury, so he had to stay out of the surf for a few days… ouch.)

“Did you find anything—” he trailed off as he saw that the Mareanie and the Mantyke were fighting between themselves to bring… whatever it was they found from underwater!

“…I spoke too fucking soon.”

“Wonder how much the price tag on one is,” he muttered quietly to himself, blinking a few times before realizing it was okay to pop out the earplugs.

A few moments later, he belatedly registered that the star of the show was asking if he was okay.

Mostly.

“Y-yeah, nothing wrong here,” he nodded as he returned his attention back to the next part of the—ahh, a Kommo-o! Now this was going to be a sight to see.

He knew that the bulky dual-types were fearsome when encountered in the wild, but he had a guess that she wasn’t going to ask the Kommo-o to chop down the hard materials with their fists.

His Mareanie was somewhere else today (probably terrorizing some other Water-types that had the misfortune of meeting her) when he saw that the Mantyke was approaching him with something new in her mouth.

“Oh, you found that underwater?” he hummed, reaching out for the object and giving the Mantyke a tickle with his fingers.

“You’re quite the good diver, you know.”

Never had he had a Pokémon make a happy squeal at that complement.

Holy shit, how was that even possible? What even?!

He then realized the reason why the earplugs were handed out to everyone, and without further ado he popped them into his ears, praying that they would hold against the reverberations that were now rattling the air. Those were some mighty powerful reverberations if he could feel it before the entire thing just—

He didn’t realize his mouth was now silently open in shock, corndog forgotten as he was now gaping at the rest of the display that he was bearing witness to.

The one good thing about his Yamper was that she was alert enough to detect a strange presence sneaking up on him—suddenly yipping and barking like mad at the reflection of the wildcat-like creature that had appeared in the highly reflective ‘walls’ of where they’d ended up in.

“Wha—huh?” he blinked as he stared at the reflection—and very nearly jumped out of his skin at the sight. Holy shit, that was a big cat!

“Sumi, calm down!” he continued in his exasperated voice, sighing before realizing that he was no longer alone.

“Oh… Josh, right?” he went on, blinking as he turned around. “How long have you been lost in here?” he added with a weak laugh.

“It… really depends, considering I have another rogue Wooloo situation on my hands.”

A wry smile followed that promouncement.
