As Illeana stepped away, Kaname took a breathe and entered the lab. He marveled briefly at the equipment, much nicer than stuff he'd used when he was an undergrad and graduate student.

"You know I'm a little nervous... starting over is always just a little scary, right? But I'm excited to be working for you, ma'am." He flashed her a quick smile. It was true, he was excited to be working for her, but maybe not for all the right reasons.

"Is there anything you typically do in the morning that I can do for you? Calibrations to the machines? Pull data analysis? Bring you coffee?"

The labs aboard the Rocket submarine were much larger and more well furnished than expected. The equipment was impressive and maintained well by the main laboratory staff. It wasn’t like the facilities back in Kanto, but of course that was a moot comparison given that in Kanto they had a little more space to spare. Still, there was more than enough equipment and resources here to conduct any kind of research necessary.



Kaname was standing at a workstation, reading some notes on a clipboard while a few samples were busy centrifuging. He sat the clipboard down and crossed his arms over his chest, trying to suppress a frustrated sigh. This wasn’t glamorous or groundbreaking work, but it was necessary for him to do some menial labor if he wanted to move up the ranks.



Kaname picked up the clipboard and intended to resume reading until a voice pulled his attention away. He quickly turned to face the man who called for his attention and he stiffed a little. was the one who gruffly requested a moment of his time. Had he done something wrong? Why was a Rocket Beast approaching him?



“Of course… what can I do for you, sir?” Kaname asked, focusing his full attention on the hitman.

Six months, it'd taken six months to get this position. He was frankly glad to have the work, but more importantly... this would he his stepping stone to something bigger and better.

Though the prospect of being able to be in the lab again was too exciting to dismiss. He quickly took a glance at his watch, he was early. "Nothing wrong with being a little early, shows initiative...", he thought.

As she approaches, he offers a small wave. "Good morning! Ah, no... I wasn't waiting long, only just a few minutes early. Nothing to worry about." He replied, giving her a soft smile.
