"Damnit…" The boosted attack is more than a match for the Drowzing Pokémon, who lets out a shrill drone before collapsing to the floor. Clicking his tongue, the grunt returns her to her Poké Ball, before simply standing there for a few seconds, torn up about how to proceed.[break][break]

"Alright, fine!" With a bitter sigh, Alba returns his Porygon as well, before stepping aside. "You win, got it? The path is open to you, hero, or whatever I'm supposed to say in a situation like this." An ironic flourish accompanies his words, just to drive the point home.[break][break]

"...No prize money, though. And if you don't mind mentioning that it was a struggle to get past me, I'd appreciate it. All things considered, I've been pretty good to you, yeah? And one good turn deserves another, like they say." There wouldn't be any getting around the fact that he'd lost the fight, but maybe he could limit how badly he reflected on him.

Gatekeeping

"Yeah, when Pokémon battle, they tend to get hurt. If you're complaining about that, go declare war on the millions of Trainers in the world instead of just us!" Then the tide of battle changes, as the runaway sends out a second Pokémon to the field.[break][break]

"Cheater," Alba remarks, though he doesn't sound bothered by the change in dynamics. The barrage of attacks seems to be a little too much for Whimsicott though, as she starts to sway and fall right before being recalled to her Poké Ball.[break][break]

He's not annoyed by the switch to a Double Battle, perhaps, but the Team Rocket grunt is definitely not happy about the change in the tide. Musharna and Porygon hit the field, firing off a Psychic and Tri Attack respectively.

Approaching Challenger

It's not like he's a bloodthirsty maniac or anything. It's just the prestige that intrigues him. Managing to kill the Pokémon of an Elite Four member must be worthy of some kind of praise. Maybe he'll get a bonus.[break][break]

"You know, you're pretty good at screaming. Maybe you should try branching out into death metal, or something." And with another Psychic, the deed is done.[break][break]

He's never killed another Pokémon before, at least not deliberately. It's not anything that causes a profound moral crisis or anything, but there's something different about aiming to faint and aiming to kill.[break][break]

"Hm. Well, I hope you don't take this too personally…" Walking past Melody, he lifts a hand to wave goodbye. "I'll leave you to mourn. Catch you later!"

Approaching Challenger

Musharna doesn't even seem to notice the attacks levied against her, though the otherworldly sounds she lets out in response might be ones of pain. They sound almost too calm to be that, though, closer to the murmurs of someone having a bad dream than anything else.[break][break]

A snap of his fingers, and Alba's Pokémon continue the attack. Whimsicott unleashing a cloud of Stun Spore on the Mr. Rime, while Musharna carries on harassing Sawk with a Moonblast.

"Potions, berries… Trainers use these kinds of things all the time in more legitimate fights. You're just upset I used it first." Sure, he wasn't exactly carrying around League-approved items or anything, but the principle remained the same, even if he was a dirty criminal. Or something like that; he didn't really care about the principle, he just wanted to hit back at Melody.[break][break]

With that, Alba takes a sledgehammer to his moral high ground and pulls out the completely illegal move of turning a fight into a 2v1, using his Musharna to intercept the attack from the Fighting-type.[break][break]

"Giga Drain and Psychic, please." Well, it wasn't like this was an officially sanctioned match or anything. There was no ruling body to disqualify him for pulling something like this.

"I see…" A warning shot, huh? "Honestly, I'd have thought you'd have gone straight for the kill, instead of wasting bullets like that." It was a pretty close warning shot, too, landing right between his legs… Was that meant to have some kind of extra meaning to it?[break][break]

It had only been a few hours since his brush with death, but the sweat and adrenaline of everything else had already begun to distance him from the primal fear of that event.[break][break]

"Go for it." He wasn't entirely sure what 'it' was, but had the distinct impression it was the kind of thing their bosses wouldn't like. Still, they didn't need to know the exact details, did they? Without any other witnesses, the truth would be theirs to stretch and retell as they liked.

Alba doesn't call the bluff. He's assuming that if he messes up too badly, he'll be dead before he hits the floor. At least from where he's standing, the image of a trained murderer is convincing enough.[break][break]

"Woow, the judicial system is that broken? Even if I'm bullet-averse, sounds like I've backed the right Rapidash." Did the League even have a submarine? He doubted it. Kind of wished Team Rocket had given him a gun as well, though… That was the one point he'd give to his enemy.[break][break]

"It doesn't matter how long I spend in there, anyway," Alba continues. "I'm worried about other things." With that, he reaches his hand up to tap on his mask… and tries to grab his Porygon's Poké Ball without John noticing.[break][break]

"You see?"

What would happen, if his soul was shown to the world? It's submerged in a tie-dye of colour, wrapped in rubber bands to preserve the pattern. If all of that was bleached away, what would even remain?[break][break]

"A road of heaven, huh… Even with all of that." He could handle the wind and rain, he thinks, but the lightning is something else altogether. He'd rather let it char him completely than shout all that he was to the world.[break][break]

That jacket of seaweed starts to dry and decay, peeling away those unreal layers he'd covered himself with. The end of the dream, perhaps, or perhaps some part of him was starting to reject the journey he was taking.[break][break]

"It was nice to meet you. Maybe our roads will cross again someday." And with those parting words, Alba lets himself fall backwards, freeing himself from that painful journey and vanishing into hell.[break][break]

"What the fuck—" In a single instant, Alba turns from a man to a rat, scurrying across the ground that had suddenly tried to kill him. Impaling… slow, painful, blood loss over hours, maybe days if he got the angle right.[break][break]

This man was anything but normal. If the primal urge to keep living hadn't already kicked into overdrive, he would have wanted to test him a little more.[break][break]

Alba snorts, then breaks out into shaky laughter, as if it was nothing but a joke. The urge to start running is a scream now. The prophecy foretold by Musharna comes true, as the psychic attack of Future Sight comes down on Exeggutor. Her trainer is blind to his own death, and that terrifies him more than anything else.[break][break]

"At least take me out to dinner first…" Arceus, why couldn't this man just be normal and pull out a gun?

Exeggutor lands a direct hit with its attack; maybe the paralysis meant Musharna was too slow to react? She hasn't moved much in general, a trend which doesn't break as she uses Calm Mind to focus and hone herself.[break][break]

There's no way for Whimsicott to dodge that; the nature of the attack simply makes it impossible. She disappears in a flurry of petals thrown up by the floral explosions.
