Keira grinned wickedly in response to his suggestion of "breaking in the desk" together, a thrill coursing through her as she remembered the fun they'd had the previous night. Unfortunately, delicious thoughts of any upcoming tryst were soon forgotten in the face of whatever seemed to be in the basement: Marshall could hear it too, and before she could stop him, he was already going down the stairs.[break][break]
Reckless idiot, she thought, rolling her eyes.[break][break]
"Of course I'm coming," she huffed. No world existed where she'd just wait around for a man to handle something - even if she liked this particular man.[break][break]
Unlike Marshall, Keira made her way down to the basement with a measure of caution. This had been an abandoned warehouse up until Marshall's recent acquisition of it; there was no telling what might live down here. She wouldn't be shocked if Marshall had failed to inspect every nook and cranny prior to taking over the space.[break][break]
The basement certainly had enough room for a fight club, that was for sure. With the broken lightbulb, however, it was too dark to make out anything beyond the vague shapes of what might be crates against a far wall. The scraping sound was louder now, however. Keira took out a Pokeball, releasing Hades.[break][break]
The bulky Charizard appeared with a flash, a growl announcing his arrival.[break][break]
"Hi baby," she cooed, patting his neck. "We need a little light down here."[break][break]
After headbutting her affectionately, the flame on his tail grew in size as a SUNNY DAY filled the chamber with bright sunlight.

Keira was born and raised in Castelia City, Unova
Her father (David Torres) was a chronically unemployed alcoholic in debt
Keira's mother (Cici Torres) was a former stripper-turned-diner waitress who constantly cheated on her husband and was absent from home
Keira completed an elementary education (Kindergarten - 5th grade) through the Castelia City public school system
When she was 12, Keira dropped out of junior high and joined a local street gang, committing minor crimes to make money for her family
Keira's father passed away from health complications (due to his heavy drinking) when she was 15. After that, Keira's mother did not return home again, essentially orphaning Keira
Keira left her childhood home, which burned down soon after the loss of her parents, and became a full-time thief and independent criminal. She gained a reputation for being very skilled and hard to catch. She earned the nickname CRIMSON due to her famous temper
She has been a member of the ORTHRUS gang since 2016
Keira currently lives in Mauville City, Hoenn

Hades touched down just outside the mouth of Granite Cave, kicking up a small cloud of dust and gravel as he did so. Keira patted him on the neck in thanks, then slid off his back in one graceful motion, boots hitting the ground with a soft thud.[break][break]
"Allright, boy, let's see if we can find the entrance to this Ultra Deep Sea everyone's been chirping about," she said to the Charizard.[break][break]
She'd come to investigate the aftermath of the faction conflict that had taken place here a few weeks ago. Not really because she had any horse in the race between League and Rocket, but because there could be useful resources here - either discarded during the fighting or recently discovered by researchers.[break][break]
If anything here was valuable, she could sell it. Turn a profit for Orthrus. Which, naturally, was something she was always on the lookout for.

Keira stretched, glad to be out of HQ for a bit. The early June sun was shining warmly, but not too warmly. The birds were chirping. The humidity was low. It was going to be one of those perfect days where being indoors felt like a waste.[break][break]
The base of Mt. Chimney wasn't exactly the most lush location for lounging, but despite the perfect weather, Keira wasn't there to relax. She turned to her companion for the day - and longtime fearless leader - Jack Magnus, and flashed him a playful grin.[break][break]
"I know you prefer Pokémon of the canine variety, Magnus, but rumor has it that Moltres was spotted here not long ago."[break][break]
Keira glanced up at the mountain's peak in the distance. The phoenix of legend wasn't really something Keira actually expected them to find, but it gave their little outing a thrilling air of mystery. And in any case, she liked to think that if such a creature did somehow notice her, she'd be able to impress it.[break][break]

Oz was a fucking mess.[break][break]
Keira forced him into a sitting position on one of the cots they kept at the medical station, then began to take an inventory of his injuries.[break][break]
"I sure did, baby," she grinned back, patting him gently on the head as if he were a beloved pet. A part of her wanted to chastise him for getting especially beat up this time, but she knew it would do little good in deterring their prized fighter from going just as hard the next time.[break][break]
There would, of course, be a next time. Oz was Oz. Fighting was his life.[break][break]
"Try not to get blood on the floor if you can help it," she scolded him, eyeing the wad of bloody spit at his feet. "Or else I'll make you clean it later, got it?"[break][break]
She wasn't really all that mad at him; after all, this was par for the course with Oz. The nagging was just part of their routine: the push and pull between the careless and the caretaker.[break][break]
Keira grabbed a washcloth, sprayed it with antiseptic, then began to wash the blood off of his...well, everything.[break][break]
"This might sting a little," she warned.

Keira was very aware of how attracted Marshall was to her, and despite all of the ways he tended to regularly drive her mad, she liked the way his eyes smoldered with a hungry fire whenever she flirted with him. It was like having a sweet tooth: she just couldn't stay away from him, always craving a taste, even though he somehow managed to piss her off nearly as much. It was just so easy: the two of them had an undeniable chemistry that was fun to exploit. And why shouldn't she enjoy herself?[break][break]
"Pity there's no furniture yet. Lots of fun things we could do with a desk," she commented, her grin suggestive.[break][break]
Keira followed Marshall over to the storage area, once again pleased with how much space this place seemed to have. Marshall had done very well indeed.[break][break]
"Oz is going to be thrilled," Keira chuckled, thinking of their prized fighter. He'd already made something of a name for himself in the underground boxing scene, but an Orthrus-run fight club would be perfect for making even more money off his skillset.[break][break]
A shuffling sound came from below as Marshall led her over to the basement staircase. Keira cocked her head, curious. Was someone else supposed to be there?[break][break]

KEIRA TORRES

HISTORY

Keira was born into poverty in the seedy underbelly of Unova's Castelia City, an only child of a father who was a chronically unemployed drunk and a mother who constantly cheated on her husband with countless other men, spending stretches of time absent from their home. Keira was forced into the unfortunate position of needing to "parent her parents" from a young age, and though she attended public school through the start of junior high, her attendance became spottier as the years went on, until she dropped out completely to join a local street gang at the age of 12.

Eventually, Keira began to make a name for herself as one of Castelia's most notorious thieves, going by the alias CRIMSON. When she was 18, she was recruited into the ORTHRUS GANG by her childhood friend Marshall Slade. Eventually, Keira came to Hoenn with Marshall and gang leader Jack Magnus, establishing themselves in Mauville City.

PERSONALITY & TROPES

Keira is very much inspired by the Criminal Found Family trope, and is neither aligned with the League nor Team Rocket. Orthrus has replaced Keira's parents as her "real family", and she is fiercely loyal to the gang.

Keira has a famous temper: don't get on her bad side. She knows how to fight, having participated in street gangs since childhood, and makes up for her smaller size with speed and agility. She's a nasty shot with a pistol, but she only uses firearms as a last resort in fights. She enjoys both shooting and archery, and can often be found practicing one or the other in her free time.

Keira is an ambitious charming vixen who doesn't take "no" for an answer, selfishly pursues that which will benefit her and her found family, and seeks to make up for what she considers a "disappointing origin story" by becoming one of the most respected criminals in Hoenn. Unfortunately, because of her upbringing, Keira doesn't have a lot of experience with romantic love, and has a hard time recognizing what true intimacy actually feels like. Partners cheat, lie, and leave: that's what she's used to, based on how her mother behaved. However, with the members of her gang, she can be quite caring - though it is often displayed through tough love.

Keira has a major soft spot for gigantic Pokémon - "big beasties" as she likes to call them. Her primary partner is a huge Steelix named Zeus that often protects the Orthrus headquarters.

CURRENT PLOTS

ORTHRUS
Keira is the official quartermaster and "gang mom" of ORTHRUS, led by Jack Magnus. Keira is primarily involved in supply/resource procurement, headquarters management, overall finances, brokering new business deals/opportunities for the gang, finding and training new recruits, and making sure the boys eat their vegetables.

Keira is also the official business owner of the Orthrus-run CLUB OLYMPUS, a mixed gender host club catering to a wide range of clients, primarily offering services in-house. However, customers with particularly deep wallets may hire hosts or hostesses to accompany them to dinners, events, and other public outings. Keira is in charge of hiring all new hosts/hostesses, and in terms of managing the clientele, she does NOT tolerate inappropriate treatment of her employees. You will be thrown out for harassing any of the host/hostesses, thank you very much.

Keira wasn't mad at Marshall Slade today, so she grinned back when he greeted her.[break][break]
"Damn, Marsh, this place is huge," Keira whistled, impressed. "More than enough room for a whole fleet of bikes."[break][break]
Not that Orthrus had a fleet, but perhaps they would one day. They were somewhat established in Mauville, but still gaining notoriety across the entire Hoenn region. In any case, she knew this space wasn't necessarily only for their storage purposes, but for working on client vehicles.[break][break]
Keira sauntered over to one of the off-white walls, touched it with her hand as if the texture might reveal some sort of secret. "Gonna have to do something about all this white," she commented, a measure of distaste coloring her tone. Then her vixen smile returned as her fellow gangster offered a "grand tour."[break][break]
"You'll be in trouble if you don't," she teased, playfully running the tips of her fingers across his chest as she moved past him.
