“Oh, that?” he hummed while his Dragonite came down for a landing, before bowing their way and waiting for him to get on her back.

“I would suggest to socialize them. Have them get used to each other’s presence while keeping an eye on them. And then, once they’re used to being around each other while you’re there, try to leave them alone for extended periods of time,” he explained.

There was… there was no other way to get out and do it. That was the way it worked for him; he wasn’t sure how it would work for her.

“Are you having problems handling the Pokémon that are brought to you for medical care?” he followed up a few moments later; all the while running a reassuring hand down his Dragonite’s back.

“Coming from you, I am not surprised you chose the pink core,” he continued with this knowing smirk on his face. He was then reminded of another individual in the region who liked the color pink, above all things.

(Yes, it was Miss Luka.)

“Have you met Miss ? You both share a similar aesthetic,” he teased. How would he put this… ‘fairycore’? Or something like that.

(He was more than certain his own ‘aesthetic’ bordered between ‘crazy’ and ‘birdcore’, if there was even such a ‘core’!)

And then… it came.

The high-pitched whistling noise very nearly sent him to his knees in a fit of irreverent laughter.

“Oh my god, it’s like those Primal of Starlight jokes I’ve been seeing in this online game I watch streamers play,” he wheezed. Good grief. Was the spirit of the holidays really in the air at this point?

It definitely seemed that way!

While his Gliscor had been bombarded with the Swift attack, he shook off the lingering effects of the poison before trying to lash back at the pink-colored Minior with a Night Slash attack coming from the snip-snapping pincers!

Meanwhile, the Hawlucha was taking measure of the Blissey, before switching to Low Kick while the other pink Pokémon was in the middle of healing. Looks like it was going to be a whittling game, now!


Gliscor and Hawlucha are out on the field!

Hawlucha contemplates on the next move, before trying to catch the Chansey by surprise with Low Kick! Gliscor, meanwhile, is hanging on like a champion; taking the Swift attack in stride while retaliating with a close-range Night Slash attack on the pink-colored Minior!

Right off the bat, he could tell that this was going to get rather messy, all things considered. While he knew that Gabriel could hold his temper, Hera on the other hand was a literal loose cannon, in more ways than one.

And boy, did that Thunder Fang hurt!

While the Aerodactyl had maneuvered out of range before attempting to close the distance, she was not going to take that for an answer!

Despite getting knocked upside the jaw, she would then snap her head back down, and try to catch the Aerodactyl with a close-range Hydro Pump; at least the ice had taken hold on the Aerodactyl, which was good.

Over where the Salamence and the Corviknight were now battling, the draconid squinted at the Galarian avian, before this unamused look crossed his features for a few moments.

After that, a sudden avalanche of boulders in the form of a Rock Slide came crashing from out of nowhere; mostly meant to take the brunt of the incoming Flash Cannon; while he flew alongside the boulders; hoping to trap the other within the deluge of stone.


Salamence & Gyarados are out on the field!

Gyarados gets beaned by the Iron Head; before retaliating with Hydro Pump while Salamence used Rock Slide to evade the Flash Cannon attack!

Thankfully, one of his Pokémon was hanging around close to the perimeter fence and saw that there was someone who looked pretty much lost, or at least trying to find him!

There was a Pidgeot who had caught sight of the other human, before taking off in a flutter of wings and eventually returning with said human in tow, who was holding a large piece of blueprint paper.

“Hello, Miss Yuina!” he waved from the opposite side of the fence once he looked around the blueprint plan he was holding up, before immediately rolling it up and then cramming it into the plastic tube holder hoisted around his back.

“Oh, whoops, let me get that for you.”

He then went over to the ‘emergency gate’ in the fence, before quickly unlocking it and swinging it open so she didn’t have to go through the front building.

“Come in, come in!”

He had to laugh a little, the moment she asked about how him and were handling things.

“Well… according to him, I didn’t want to come out of bed for a few days. Like right after we got back, I was mostly drifting in and out because. You know. The shock of coming back home, back here, to safety, hadn’t completely set in.”

It wasn’t just that—there were a lot of words exchanged, and my god they were incredibly sappy.

“The moment I could function properly, and… and that took a while, mind… I asked him to bring me here so I could. Well, you can see. This.”

He waved around at the room.

“I never did tell you why I had to be extra-careful about getting injured while we were trapped in that alternate Hammerlocke, did I?”


who ordered even more emotional damage?! timelined after this as if he didn’t have enough already good grief

Had—had they flown too close to where the next obstacle had already been set up? Holy shit, where did that flaming—

“Oh, shit!” he exclaimed as Fenrir quickly did a barrel-roll to make it through the final part of the first course and straight into the second one, where—you guessed it, that was right—it was like one of those obstacles in that end level of one of those games.

Thankfully, she would be able to escape the same fate with a last-minute risky maneuver of her choice before they came approaching towards the second obstacle—

The flaming aerial gauntlet.

It was a spin on one of the other obstacles he had in another one of his courses; however he’d called in that same favor again and had a multitude of different Charizard assembled, all weaving and having an aerial ‘battle royale’ with all manner of Flamethrower, Fire Blast and Overheat!

Yikes.

Now, if the Galarian princess wasn’t careful she may get more than her eyebrows singed off…!

The moment he confirmed his suspicion, there were… there were a thousand emotions running through his mind all at once, in varying degrees of panic and intensity.

First it was disbelief, then shock, which then gradually edged towards denial—it was like he was going through four of the five stages of grief all at once in that infinitesimal little moment.

“She was with you all this time, eh?” was what he finally managed to say once he’d found his voice at last.

He wondered just how much he’d revealed to her—and now that his friend had revealed the big thing, he also belatedly realized—how much of him did Team Rocket know about, at this point in time?

(This was barring the few times that he’d been in actual battle with Team Rocket; see: Littleroot before the meteor came crashing down.)

After grabbing a few more breadsticks and spinning them around and biting off the edge of one, he stared at the other.

“Were you still with… with them, on their side, when the meteor almost dunked everyone living here?”

While his companion would be busy with her possessed teapot companion (sorry, he’s just relaly uptight around the spoopies) his Salamence continued to growl and snarl at the mook who was pretty much… terrified at the sight of the extremely angry draconid.

“Alright,” he nodded as he unballed his Braviary, who let out a squawk of surprise the moment he realized where they were.

“Kyouya, can you take Miss Elise with you for a bit? I have to take care of a few loose ends.”

Before she could even blink, the much-larger-than a normal shiny Braviary would usher her out and away from the tiny little room where the cowering, absolutely bat-shit terrified Rocket grunt was still cowering; which left him and the Salamence pretty much… alone.

“You should know better than to involve someone innocent with grudges that run deep,” he continued in that same dangerous voice, changing language before looking over at his Salamence, who was pretty much ready to—

“Do it. And be quick about it.”

He then turned on his heel, quickly leaving the cell behind—but not before his Salamence finally roared in triumph, before unleashing the hottest iteration of Flamethrower he could manage; only letting up when another sharp whistle made him back down.

He did say they were to leave no evidence behind, right?

And that was what he was going to do.


All too soon he joined her; noticeably without the Salamence, which he’d recalled back into his Moon Ball. The Braviary gave him a suspicious stare, before shaking his head a little; waiting where they’d come busting in.

“I’ll take you to Fortree for the night, Miss Elise—who the hell knows what’s going to happen if we go to Rustboro this time of dark. You can go back in the morning after a shower and some food. I’ll let Remy know you’re spending the night at my place.”

He hoped that the Frog had gotten the memo, after all.

“…see, Miss Elise. Here’s the thing. I’ve survived eleven years out here in Hoenn thriving on… sugar,” he croaked, his voice going into the cracking range before a look of defeat flashed on his features.

“Like, sure, I can bake, but anything else outside of baking, bartending, and desserts, I default to hot water in a cup, or deep fried, or straight into the microwave.”

(And he was sure, somewhere, that his partner was screaming to high heavens that only Zubat could hear him at this point.)

And then, there it was. The drop.

“You know what?” he breathed out after a while; once he saw that the Archeops had flown over to spread his wings over the uncomfortable-looking… dual-type to shade it from the sun, truly, there was nothing else to it.

“I’ll ask Remy about them. He knows a lot about Dragon-types, just as much as miss does.”

I agree with miss here, there is no way in hell rushing to get whatever… whatever this is up and running is going to end well in the long run. We have to examine it to make sure that it’s… well, safe enough to use before going all willy-nilly on it with our Pokémon companions.[break][break]

While I looked over my notes of the time spent in the alternate(?) Hammerlocke, I’ll go out on a bone here and say that whatever is bringing up about using this strange power is… well, unless I’m counting heads, I’m sure some of you weren’t blasted to that alternate Galar… I know Miss here was, we were in the same version of Hammerlocke and. Yeah. Things.[break][break]

Anyway.[break][break]

us birdies gotta stick together, right? ‘birds of the same feather flock together’ and all that. For now, though, hopefully none of those weird spots appear in Fortree… it’s going to be a logistical nightmare to buiid around the entire thing because you know how zoning works, right? Fortree’s built around nature, not against it, so hopefully we can keep nature here as untouched as possible.[break][break]

Although, the possibility of a spot appearing near Route 120 / 121 would work for both me and since Lilycove’s the next city over and we can join forces to protect / defend as needed…

After the spooky shenanigans that was Halloween came… well, admittedly there was Thanksgiving in between that but it was a bit of a small celebration between themselves and the long-time staff of the Sanctuary so that was done and dusted with a dinner that came and went…

So now, it was arguably Alex’s favorite season out of the entire year:

Christmas.

Being a child born of winter, and eventually growing up to be one who was more attuned to the coldest time of the year than anyone else, he really, truly, absolutely relished winter snow. No matter if it was just a light dusting or truly Icirrus-levels of flurries, he was down and all for it!

Of course, it was also time to bust out all the holiday tinsel, wreaths, and glitter!

Smash-cut to the flat being a glittery mess, Alex walking around with garlands hanging around his neck like some kind of living scarf; and… of course.

Of friggin’ course there was mistletoe among the decorations!


oh yes we back with winteryule shenanigans like what else is new?!

“What a mess,” he sighed as he assessed the damage the other was taking inventory of. “What, they want all your dragons for themselves to use?” he continued as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

And then, an idea manifested in his mind. His mouth was too fast to stop before he offered it to his friend.

“Well, if you’re thinking of moving your draconid sanctuary elsewhere, I know a place where you can go.”

He was talking about Fortree. Even though it was the City in the Trees, there was more than enough nature to go around for a second sanctuary structure to take advantage of!

“Just say the word, and I’ll help you out.”

Because that’s what friends were for. No matter if one of them was of royalty, a friend was still a friend after all.

“Well, guess what? Your cousin isn’t here and he planned this ahead so…” he cackled quietly as he cast a wary glance over at the floating piece of possessed china.

(Yes, he could immediately tell that it was a ghostie. Oops!)

Making sure that nothing had been left behind, he then led the way back outside to where the Salamence was snapping his jaws angrily at the poor Team Rocket mook that was now cowering because…

“Gabriel, good job,” he remarked, giving the only other person present this ugly look before switching languages all of a sudden.

“You’re not getting your fucking hands on my friend,” before realizing belatedly that the Salamence already did a good enough job of scaring the hell out of the poor shmuck.

“You’ll have to get through me before even thinking of getting your hands on him.”

He would mean good on that promise, before whistling sharply at the draconid to back down for the moment.

“They got way more than what they asked for, Miss Elise. Shall we get out of here? Or do you want me to leave no evidence behind?” he continued, his gaze suddenly turning into a glare at the poor guard who had the ring of keys looked ready to call for backup.

“Look, even if the both of us work, admittedly I’ve been semi-banned from my own kitchen. My own kitchen, Miss Elise! All because I can do is bake, make alcoholic drinks, and empty six convenience stores’ worth of frozen sweet treats when I’m stressed. And cup ramen for days. He thinks I should ‘eat healthy’ more.”

Looking over at the napping… the moment she mentioned Meteor Falls, there was without a doubt—

“A Dragon. Well… at least it doesn’t look as derpy as the Goomy line does!” he wheezed, unable to hold back the fit of laughter.

“But they also look like they’re having a hard time in the heat… why’s that?”

Imagine the surprise when he found out that the Dragon-type was also an Ice-type…
