“Give me a moment!” he gasped as he unhid his face from his boyfriend’s shoulder—it was like several things happening all at once.

The strange ornery-looking Braviary that Miss Elinor was riding had shot ahead of them, and then there was—

“Not right now, you big-ass shite!” he yelled, hesitant on letting go of the grip he had on the other man’s arms—however he had to free at least one of his hands and rummaged around his pockets (the power of hammerspace-fu!) and pulled out a battered, scuffed Friend Ball before literally tossing it forward and watching as the blue plumage of Kyouya the Braviary materialized from the red beam of light.

“Go help Miss Elinor!” he shouted at the avian, never mind if his boyfriend got a full ear of his holler. Whoops!

The avian let out a surprised shriek at the danged thing that was flying alongside them, however sped off to tail the strange Braviary to help out as needed.

Hadn’t he been here like, a few days ago?

Well, he was here again, and he was back! For more!

…to be fair there were a few options that he was looking to grab, but where the hell was that duck? Why hadn’t it appeared yet?

(Knowing his luck it was highly possible that the one he was waiting for would appear soon, and not now… either way he knew he was going to be making another return trip here most likely next month…)

Four Safari Balls were returned in exchange for the entrance fee, and off he went! (Again. Into the wilderness.)

So the funny thing here was that—

Him, so far from land?

What also made this even more… well, interesting was the fact that they were going to have to descend into the deep waters (something he was still internally screaming about, geezus) so he was following the two on the back of his ol’ reliable, Gabriel the Salamence.

He had one hell of a time picking out the rest of his companions, however he believed the team he brought along with him was… reasonable enough, what with him packing along two (actually three) healers. His preference for being a support-main really showed.

“I have a Zoroark who can hide us should you need it,” he hummed from his perch—yeah, good luck getting him into the water for the moment.

“You want me to bring her out now?”

From top spot to somewhere in the middle—well, it was to be perfectly fair, alright to start from the middle. Because see what happened the last time he started from the front—he was immediately swept towards the middle of the pack and never got past tenth place afterward in the previous race he took part in.

Today, however?

T’was best to keep his best ace in the hole quiet, and take everyone by surprise once the actual race time happened. Plus, the last time he was in a race he was with his own Galarian Rapidash, Azula—and the ground wasn’t exactly one of his best routes.

Up in the air, however?

It was time to actually bare the fangs show what he was really capable of!

Picking out faces in the crowd, he was not surprised to see that more or less close to half of them were people he either knew by close association, or by sight, or simply because they lived in Fortree like he did.

His Salamence was huffing by his side—and as always, no saddle or reins, it was just him and Gabriel ready to take to the skies.

“I know, I know… so many others, right? Best we fly on the down low and surprise them all at the end, don’t you think?” he cackled quietly as he gave the draconid an affectionate neck rub.

“Oh my god please don’t call me sir, you’re making me sound way older than I really am,” he cracked, unable to resist the bubble of laughter that escaped him.

“But yeah, let’s go out back, I can’t wait to show you the—the everything,” he continued as he led the way towards the door on the right side behind the receptionist’s desk and opened said door, letting him step outside first and then closing it behind him once he was done.

The moment they were both outside, as if on cue—a swarm of shadows came circling around the open-air arena, before a rather substantial number of avianid Pokémon came perching down and around the space—some of them had even come to perch around the fence perimeter!

“Confirm with me, it’s a 1 on 1 or a 2 on 2?” he went on as most of the larger avians continued to circle above the arena, waiting to be called down from the skies. The Pelippers were in full force today—accompanied by the smallest Wingull that sparkled faintly in the sunlight.

“Hey, they’re not sketchy!” he countered, because he was pretty sure that the carnival that his partner was thinking about was vastly different from the one he knew—the big, flashy, gaudy ones back in Nimbasa.

“The rides are perfectly safe, what on earth are you talking about?” he went on, as the carnival came within sight.

“They’ve got roller coasters, merry go rounds, those spinny wheels, water rides—everything! The ones back in Nimbasa had one of everything!”

He wanted to take the Frog out on a ride—he wondered how the other did with inverting roller coasters…

“Did you just snipe one of the macarons?” he hummed without looking up, because he was busy frosting new macarons and adding to the pile that were going to be boxed and sold for fundraising.

“Well… I’m making my piece de resistance for—for them,” he continued quietly. “Apparently there’s another fundraising thing and they want bakery things, so… there’s that.”

He continued to add more onto the pile of macarons that were going to be boxed in a neat dozen before being delivered.

“How was work?”

“I called in a favor from a friend of mine!” he hollered over the loud swishing, swinging noises that came from approximately four directions at once—

While his Golurk had managed to weave through the first half of the wrecking ball orchestra, Isaac’s Golurk would get clipped by a surprise ‘wrecking ball’ from below—as mentioned earlier, it’s not just coming from two but approximately four (or more) directions—

A jarring, thudding noise would shake Isaac’s Golurk as the surprise obstacle slammed into the Pokémon, causing them to fly off-course…

“And yeah, you might want to do something about that!” he called back to Isaac as he crouched down low, knowing the harder part of this obstacle was coming up ahead—

With even more frozen wrecking balls coming from impossible directions now!

He could hear the tinny laugher from the ear piece he wore, because while he had them to thank for this insanity, they may have taken it to eleven!

Part 3: we came in like a wrecking ball! Get the roll between the numbers of Alex’s rolls to safely get through the second half of the third obstacle. Do you want to know what happens if you miss the objective?

‘You’re as stubborn as a cockroach!’

Another defiant roar came from the Salamence, and boy was Alexei tempted to bust out the—the secret weapon his Salamence knew, however he wasn’t sure how the Dragonite would take it because, well, this was a mano a mano battle!

The two draconic blurs then flew straight up—and he recognized what an Extreme Speed looked like, and just like a man the Salamence took the brunt force of the attack—however on the way down he whipped his tail and brought down a surprise hurtling Rock Slide in mid-air, attempting to slam into the Dragonite while the other was so preoccupied with trying to take him down through the force of the attack as they came hurtling back towards the ground—

In a resounding, powerful crashing noise. As the dust kicked up, he had to shield his eyes as he squinted through the dust cloud—

There was no way the Salamence was going to give up, oh no, he was a mcfucking fighter for Arceus’s sake! Battered, bruised, he got up—on wobbly legs and let out a defiant roar—a sign he wasn’t going to lose.

Salamence is out on the field!

Salamence takes the Extreme Speed attack, however on the way down he also summoned a Rock Slide to catch the Dragonite off-guard with the avalanche of boulders following them down!
