Knight kept staring at the Pokémon in awe -- a Hiusian Zoroark! Woah! "How did you get him? Did you catch him somewhere?" He always liked to hear about people's Pokémon stories so hopefully this guy wouldn't mind talking about how he met this particular 'mon.[break][break]

"That might be a good idea... Hm..." He looked around and then gasped loudly. He sprinted over towards some trees and spotted something that would definitely help them out, "Hey, Fitz, use Brutal Swing and knock down some berries!" [break][break]

His Farfetch'd didn't seem too thrilled at being used to knock down some berries but he didn't outright disobey either. There was just a bit of huffing before he swung his long leek at the trees and Kay gathered the fallen berries in his arms.[break][break]

"Nice!" Knight went back to his new friend and offered him some, "I think they're interested!" He laughed as one of the Mareep wandered over to try and nibble at the berries Kay was holding. [break][break]

This might just work after all![break][break]

He took a few steps in the right direction and grinned as the Mareep, and a few others, started to follow with the promise of fresh berries to eat.

Kay knew what it was like to have some solid, amazing Pokémon around him and he was glad Thomas had that too, "I can't wait to meet them!" He grinned, determined to make that one of his immediate future plans. Maybe a weekend during the summer months?[break][break]

His eyes grew big and round as Thomas showed off his collection of badges. Even having one would have impressed Knight to the moon and back so to see an impressive collection was making his head spin, "Woah, you're like an elite trainer or something huh? Good thing I didn't challenge you to a battle then." [break][break]

While he laughed it off, Knight was thankful -- he would have had his butt handed to him no doubt... "But hey! If you have any tips for an upcoming trainer, I'd love to hear them." He gave Fitzwilliam a nod. His 'mon could learn something new, perhaps, and next time dominate in a battle!

Knight nodded at Josh's words, "It was incredible..." But his time on the Dewgong was coming to an end. The rest of his classmates were probably done as well and Kay would have to reunite with them.[break][break]

He carefully got out of the seat and climbed off Ulysses and joined the gym leader, "How did you discover you liked doing stuff like that? Was it something your family did?"[break][break]

Hopefully that wasn't too personal a question but it was nice, meeting someone he lowkey idolised and being able to talk to them like this. It showed Knight how normal someone like Josh was. And there was no need to be scared of him.[break][break]

Except maybe if he challenged him to a badge or something.[break][break]

"I'm going to catch some awesome Pokémon so I can get skilled at different modes!" Was modes even the right word? Kay was too excited to doubt himself and had a big grin on his face.[break][break]

Knight watched in awe as their combined efforts sent the poison blob sailing right into Munkidori's face. He couldn't help but give a little cheer and was glad their efforts were not in vain -- they had defeated the Pokémon (though... seeing it cut in half like that...)[break][break]

As chaos continued around them, Kay fought to hear what Cass was saying. Something about finding someone? Maybe? Either way, he wasn't going to let either of his friends out of his sight right now.[break][break]

So he gave Thea an encouraging smile and, with Fitzwilliam following, he headed off with Cass.[break][break]

(AND, he was glad to get his high five returned by Ettie, which had brought a wide grin to his face -- he'd ride that wave for a while!)[break][break]

The whole ship crashing thing was pretty crazy too and Knight looked around to meet Thea's gaze, if she noticed, "What actually is happening here right now? Is this for real?" Because it could still be a dream, couldn't it?[break][break]

Ugh, what he wouldn't give to be waking up in his own bed, at home, safe and sound, right now. Nope, instead he stepped over rubble and doing his best to keep Cass in his line of sight.[break][break]

They happened upon some young looking kiddos (even younger than him?! yikes!) and Knight joined Cass -- at least he understood these were the two she had sought. Fitzwilliam puffed out his chest as he stood to attention next to Kay and waited to be told what to do next...[break][break]

Knight tried not to laugh at how cute his 'mon was being and when he finally paid attention again, he saw that someone was stoof with a small Pokemon on the opposite side of... Well, pretty much everyone else gathered here. [break][break]

Great, the next big bad they had to fight?[break][break]

"Do we have to fight again..." Knight started to complain, but Cass had moved into action with her Tinkatuff, along with those two pint-sized heroes. Huh... Wait, they were fighting or...?[break][break]

"Can't we just stop this somehow? We've been lucky but... What if..." He couldn't bring himself to finish what he was going to say but he hoped Thea, who he was addressing now, would understand what he was going to say.[break][break]

What if they didn't get lucky and one of them got hurt?

Still, he wouldn't just stand there and do nothing. He nodded at Fitzwilliam, and the two of them stood forward to act as a wall between the Azleaf Trio and anyone who'd try to stop them. Kay could sense that Cass and the other two weren't going to hurt anyone if they could help it and he just had to believe this was the right choice to make.[break][break]

Something soft landed on his skin. Knight had his eyes closed for a moment and there was a perfect moment of calm. It felt like he was about to slip into a deep sleep...[break][break]

And then a renewed sense of energy and life flowed through him.[break][break]

When he opened his eyes, Kay noticed that the sharp pain in his chest was gone -- and the aches from his limbs had subsided. He was still a little stiff but it was easier to move now. He knew that.[break][break]

He would have to find who healed him and thank them somehow.[break][break]

Perrin returned with a happy chirp and Knight pet the bird as he landed on his shoulder. His smile grew when he noticed Cass approaching, with Thea right there too. He gave them both a bright laugh and opened his arms for a hug, "I'm so glad to see you both!"[break][break]

He heard a cry and turned to see Ettie, relief washing over him at the sight of the younger trainer, "You made it! Nice one~" If she wanted to, Kay held up his hand for a high five for them.[break][break]

But, of course, this wasn't the time or place for a happy reunion. There would be time for that later.[break][break]

Now they had to deal with... Those three.[break][break]

A shared look between friends and Knight nodded. Jon produced a wonderful sludge bomb and Zeus helped to toss it towards Fitz, "Use your giant leak like a bat, whack that sludge bomb with all your might towards our target." Knight instructed with an excited bounce. Ouch.[break][break]

"Use Brutal Swing, now!" Fitzwilliam didn't need told twice. He stepped up like an ace batter ready to get a home run. The sludge bomb made contact with his leek and Fitzwilliam swung hard, aiming towards Munkidori.[break][break]

Knight let out a cheer, "Go, go, Brutal Sludge Toss!" and then did the pose! It's a super cool trio pose, okay?[break][break]

Would it be enough to defeat these cruel wardens and their barriers? Knight could see people around them joining in and doing their best to pitch in.[break][break]

Alright, enough baseball analogies.[break][break]

"Get ready for a second round..." Knight muttered, staying close to his friends and their mons.[break][break]

The heat was unreal. Knight winced and leaned his head back from it though he was determined not to move his body in case he ruined the progress they had made. He was vaguely aware that people were fighting something else, but Knight couldn't let his focus slide this time.[break][break]

As the seconds tick by, the heat increases and the shield on his left hand grows heavier. Knight fell to one knee and let out a cry of determination. He gritted his teeth and refused to be defeated like this.[break][break]

Was this really the best he could do?[break][break]

Seeing Thea doing her part to help encourages Knight to dig as deep as possible and redouble his efforts.[break][break]

Though, if he was completely honest, it seemed like it was taking forever for others to find a way to stop Ogerpon and everything felt so heavy...[break][break]

There's a final flash of heat and Knight faints, his shield shrinking into nothing, though his armour remains as he laid on the ground. He just needed a few seconds to recover... Why was it suddenly so cold? And wet? This place was truly a nightmare.[break][break]

He missed the drama of everything that transpired before the floor collapsed, though it was the perfect thing to shake Knight from his deep sleep to find out he was falling through the air. Slamming into the floor below was less than fun. Kay let out a groan and rolled onto his back.[break][break]

As his vision focused, he noticed he was surrounded by six familiar faces, "Aw, I must be dreaming..." He reached out to pat Fitzwilliam on the head only to have his hand whacked by a very large leek. Wait, that felt a bit too real to be dreamy...[break][break]

Knight sat up suddenly (a mistake) and felt every inch of his body resist the moment and protest with causing him as much pain as possible. "Crap!" Knight groaned and it was a fight to get back on his feet. Which, he noted, took him a lot longer than it normally did. He felt like he'd be training with Thea for three days straight.[break][break]

Stumbling to his feet, Kay looked around for any familiar faces, "Perrin, can you fly around and see if Thea or Cass are nearby?" There was so much chaos, debris, Pokémon and everything else happening around their little group. Knight held an arm around himself since it hurt to breathe and, while he wasn't smart enough to know he has probably broken a rib, it certainly felt like that.[break][break]

Chaos was the kind of thing that followed Knight wherever he went but it was a contained, a controlled chaos. The kind that would make someone shake their head but smile fondly at the center of the chaos (Knight). It was endearing.[break][break]

This was not.[break][break]

He was aware of Cass and Thea in his peripheral vision, and then Ettie was there too. Good. He barely knew the girl but he sure as heck wasn't going to leave her behind.[break][break]

Instinctively, Kay winced -- hopefully his Uncle hadn't somehow figured out he had thought the word heck and would scold him for it later. He had an uncanny ability to know when Knight was being a little bit naughty. If he explained the circumstances, then he would be forgiven, yeah?[break][break]

As he fought (or rather, defended) his way through the chaos, Knight was hoisted onto Thea's strong shoulders when he felt like he was about to faint. She had that uncanny Knight sense too, it seemed. He gave her a weak smile of thanks, and while it was tempting to just honk shoo right there, he couldn't let that happen.[break][break]

When Cass made to leave, Knight gave her an encouraging smile. He knew he didn't need to say anything and she'd take care of any of his 'mons down below. He encouraged Eris to leave as well. She seemed too young to be caught up in this nonsense and he hoped she'd get out safely.[break][break]

"Alright, I know there's no use arguing with you..." Knight wriggled himself upright and onto his own two feet. There was the feeling of something inside him, coursing through him and Knight couldn't tell if it was good or bad. For right now, however, he would have to just ignore all of that and push through.[break][break]

There were still so many people to save...[break][break]

"You got it." He replied to Ettie as she warned them to stay safe and he worried for a moment where she was running off to. But he managed a thumbs up with his non-shield hand regardless.[break][break]

Thanks to his chaos-centric life, it's like Knight can tell where he is needed at the right moments -- or maybe it was something to do with his Toxic Chain.[break][break]

He broke through and threw up a large shield, fending off the immense heat that threatened to overpower them all, to burn them to a crisp, "Go, Run. I can hold it off for a bit..." He looked around and caught the eye of a guy from his ward. Ah, the guy from the laughing hour! Knight couldn't recall his name at that moment but gave him a lazy grin.[break][break]

His toxic armour helped to protect Knight and he forced himself forward a few steps, the shield from his left hand protecting anyone who was behind him. [break][break]

It seemed someone else had the same idea and Knight locked eyes with Tempest, giving the older man a nod. There wasn't anything to say right now but Knight followed his lead and attempted to defend as many people as possible. Give them a chance to escape.[break][break]

Honestly, the lack of a prize from the laughing hour hurt Knight more than being laughed at.[break][break]

He was brought out of his own thoughts by Cass' words as she explained what she had seen, "A dream? Or something more?" He asked, feeling uncertain about what he should consider real or not in this place.[break][break]

There's no sense of how much time they've spent here, and it was beginning to feel just a bit endless. He looked at Cass and Thea and hoped they were holding up okay. [break][break]

If only he could protect them.[break][break]

When Kay awoke with a jolt the next morning, he hadn't expected the chaos that befell the prison and yet... Something about it seemed predictable, too. [break][break]

Something shone on the ceiling of the cell and Knight took a second to realise it was their tears, but they've been transformed and look more like the crystals they had been sorting before.[break][break]

His brain wasn't made for cryptic puzzles like this![break][break]

At least he had the sense to pocket his mochi before the signal sounded. [break][break]

"This seems--" Would be he could manage before Cass urged them to move. Something is odd with the toxic chain that has now wrapped itself around his arms and chest, part of it forming something akin to a shield from his left hand. Knight frowned as he followed his friends, trying to make sense of everything.[break][break]

"Is your chain weird too?" Kay asked Cass and Thea and hoped he wasn't alone in this. A sudden, harsh sunlight caused his steps to falter as he squinted at the unexpected brightness. Could it be possible that they would escape from this hell?[break][break]

He pushed himself to move, walking past those weird tubes from before but Knight was determined not to look at them. He flexed his left hand and the shield there grew in size. Enough to protect him and his friends if he needed it to -- at least, that was what Kay concluded with a smile.[break][break]

Any attack thrown their way, Knight would step forward and attempt to block with his new toxic chain armour and shield, making sure Thea and Cass stayed behind him. It seemed to even block psychic attacks from their cruel, Monkey warden, "Hurry up! The platform is close!" [break][break]

Knight made sure he could help as many people as possible until the last possible moment -- then he needed to jump onto the platform himself. [break][break]

Breathing hard from the effort and dropping to one knee, Knight hoped he had done enough to help...[break][break]

Knight thought the worst thing he had to look forward to was a night (ha) sleeping on the floor. Oh, how sweet and naive he was.[break][break]

He'd been trying to savour his mochi as much as one person could when he was jerked from his cell, the last bite flinging from his hands and onto the dirty floor, "Noo--!" Damn it. Now what?[break][break]

"May the laughing hour now commence!"[break][break]

The who what now? Kay noticed that two other prisoners had been dragged forward with him but he had no idea who they were. He gave them both a friendly smile since, despite their situation, it was still nice to meet new people! "Hi, I'm Kni--" He shut himself up as the monkey begins to do something.[break][break]

Oh the old 'hide the thing under the cup and then move the cup' game! Knight knew this one though he wasn't very good at it. The monkey seemed very eager for them to play and Knight's efforts were sincere if, naturally, wrong and stupid. His toxic chain didn't need to guide him to the wrong box as he somehow managed to pick it every time.[break][break]

"How are you so good at this!" He exclaimed in wonder as he picked the wrong box again and the monkey laughed, and the others were encouraged to laugh.[break][break]

Kay laughed too because it was stupid and he was stupid. It wasn't something to get upset about -- was it? Wrong. He winced as one of the other guys had an outburst, and Knight felt bad for laughing then. [break][break]

He could hear some kind of chanting too but Knight didn't really focus on it and instead tried to pick the right box again (but he would have failed but it seemed it was the monkey's turn this time). When the Pokémon picked the right box and showed it to them, Knight's eyes grew wide, "Oooh!" But they had been shuffled so fast! Incredible![break][break]

After the laughing hour, they're free to go back to their miserable existences and Knight hurried back to his cousin and Cass, smiling at their concern, "Maybe if I had done better I could have won a prize for us... Like a decent meal or something." Knight scratched his head. [break][break]

Clearly, the point of the laughing hour had gone over his itty, bitty braincell.[break][break]

Knight is frozen for a second as he tries to comprehend everything that was happening. It all seemed so odd and just... Well, unreal. Even if everything felt real, Kay was starting to wonder if maybe this was a weird dream after all.[break][break]

Nothing made sense.[break][break]

It took him a second to realise Cass had spoken up and Knight nods in thanks for her answering his question. He didn't have a clue about RKS stuff so he'd have to ask her more about it later. When they got out of here.[break][break]

He gasped when a sudden downpour of cold water washed over him and he shuddered, chilled to the bone almost instantly. He did his best to try and clean himself up without removing any clothes (it didn't seem appropriate and if others wanted to, Knight didn't comment). He crouched as he scrubbed at his body and hair, though it didn't really feel like he was getting clean without some kind of soap.[break][break]

"Huh, hm. Thanks." He smiled at Cass and stood again once it seemed like they were being herded some place else. Not that he had much of a choice as his toxic chain tightened and forced him to move. He looked back as they left but, due to his height disadvantage, wasn't able to see anything of note.[break][break]

The weird tubes that jutted out of the wall earned a cringe from Kay and he did his best to avoid them, sticking close to Thea and Cass as they ambled along. It felt like a rather endless walk and Knight was tired after everything that had happened.[break][break]

He was thankful when they made it back to a platform and he suspected they were being taken back to their cell. A fresh set of clothes were shoved into his arms, and Knight thanked the Megalopolan Speaker almost automatically. He shucked off his soaking wet clothes and left them in a pile and hurried to pull on the new set.[break][break]

"Do these... Smell like peaches?" He mumbled to Thea and Cass, wondering if his brain was playing a cruel trick on him. [break][break]

And then he was reeled back into his cell without much of a chance to fight.[break][break]

He coughed when he fell to his knees, shaking his head and struggling to stand once again. Stupid toxic chain! He tugged on it but it didn't budge a bit.[break][break]

As the guards left, Knight watched them until they were out of sight and then turned to his cell-mates, "Well, you two could probably squeeze onto the bed together?" Thea looked a little worse for wear since she had taken that hit for him but maybe sharing the bed with Cass would keep her warm at least?[break][break]

Knight moved to sit down in front of the bed, "I can sleep here, easy-peasy." He grinned at both girls, hoping to put them both at ease.
