A platform transferred them to a lower level in... whatever place this was, and Knight jostled together with the others, looking around but at a loss for what to do. It seemed best to just go with the flow and see what would happen next.[break][break]

Hey, maybe this was just a very realistic and elaborate nightmare! He shouldn't have had cheese before bed...[break][break]

But in the pit of his stomach, Knight knew that wasn't the case. He stayed close to Thea and Cass as more people join them, and Knight wonders if they were sharing the same fate right now.[break][break]

It sounded like there was a lot of machinery around as Kay listened to the clanging of pipes and tried to look around but it was just endless darkness. He hoped Thea was feeling okay and reached out to hold her hand -- if she wanted to.[break][break]

As soon as they all exited the platform, it rose again and disappeared. Knight frowned as he was certain he heard something below them and looked at his friends, "Do you hear that?" He whispered, trying to be as quiet as possible. [break][break]

Something was lit up, and Knight craned over everyone to see... Was that a mochi bowl? What was going on? Did they have to make mochi now?[break][break]

"Cleaning..." Kay frowned. He had a sinking feeling that there was more to this than met the eye but what-- Oh. The explanation came and Knight let out a shout as well. These weird Pokémon had some messed up ideas of what they should be doing. Why pit them against each other? If they needed them to gather or sort resources, to clean things up, wouldn't it make more sense to keep them healthy?[break][break]

No, they seemed to enjoy inflicting punishments on them![break][break]

Instinctively, Knight reached for where a Poké ball would normally be attached to his pouch, only to remember he had neither and no way to defend himself or his friends. Thea called out for someone, and Knight turned to see -- just a kid. Just a kid like them. [break][break]

How was that fair?![break][break]

And then another creature entered into the fray and caused confusion and hurt around them. Knight tried to stick close to his friends but he was shoved by someone else, unseen, and singled out. The creature seemed to make a bee-line for him and he threw up his arms to protect himself.[break][break]

But it wasn't necessary, as something blocked the inevitable attack -- "Thea! Thea!" Of course his cousin would protect him. He winced as she was slammed against the ground and hurried to her side. Luckily, it seemed the creature had moved on (for now) and he helped his cousin to her feet, "Why would you do that? You got hurt..." Because of him...[break][break]

There was a lump in his throat and Knight gave his cousin a gentle hug, "Thank you." [break][break]

But Cass' words caught his attention, and he realised someone else had spoken up as well. Knight kept an arm around Thea as he turned to them and sought answers.[break][break]

"You know that Pokémon?" He asked both Cass and the woman he didn't recognise, hoping that in the confusion of what was happening they would be free to answer him. He checked on Thea again and once he was certain she would be (kind of) okay, he started to clean up. [break][break]

Taking his new Drampa, Falkor, for a test flight, Knight had been intending to land at Mauville City. Unfortunately, he was still a rookie and still getting used to how things worked.[break][break]

They overshot the City a little bit and landed on Route 111, just on the opposite side but Kay had a huge grin on his face. As far as he was concerned, this was still a win![break][break]

"Great job!" He hopped out of the flight saddle and pushed up his goggles, "Shall we stop for a break? A picnic?" He had packed a few things and hurried to get them out.[break][break]

Falkor didn't seem to mind the idea of taking a break and he wandered over to what he considered to be a good spot to rest. Knight laughed and followed his Pokémon, grabbing some food to feed Falkor and then something for himself.[break][break]

"This route is kinda neat, I've never been here before." He spoke between bites of his yakisoba pan, looking around from where he sat on a flat rock.

Speaking of cute Pokémon -- another one flew into his face and Knight hadn't noticed it was there until it booped his nose![break][break]

"Gosh, sorry -- Woah, you're tiny!" He exclaimed, gently holding up a hand for the dazed Cutiefly to rest on, "Sorry about the collision, I wasn't paying attention. Hope you're okay." [break][break]

Jenkins floated over and seemed to communicate with the tiny bug and fairy type, which made Kay smile. He looked down at Fia, "I think we're making a new friend..."[break][break]

Fia bobbed her head in agreement and Knight chuckled, "How about it then? What to come home with us? Or well, we've got another stop to make on the way first but then we'll head home." [break][break]

The Cutiefly didn't seem that opposed to the idea, so Knight, very carefully, held out a premier ball to catch it. Gosh, it really was the teeniest, tiniest little thing in the world.

A lot happened.[break][break]

Knight couldn't believe it that some people tried to steal the shards and, of course, were punished for doing so. He was pretty dumb himself (hence the ward) but come on! Couldn't be trusted for five minutes? People were idiots![break][break]

Though, even he had to admit, the punishment seemed pretty brutal. Knight winced as the people were strung up and he gazed at the large Tera Shard crystals on the ceiling.[break][break]

He was spared punishment simply because he had done as he was told but it seemed their ward hadn't done enough to get the nice reward. Knight sighed as he stood with Thea and Cass, watching their captor to see what would happen next.[break][break]

The whole ordeal with breaking the Poké balls is lost on him for a second... Until he realised that they had a Pokémon inside, "Wha--" That was... What? He couldn't understand why they'd do that![break][break]

And then his ultimate weakness was revealed when he had to listen to the Megalopolan spew all this information at them.[break][break]

It was a lot for someone like him to take in and Kay simply tugged on his ear, head empty, and somewhere a distant, upbeat song played in his head. [break][break]

"Huh?" Why had Cass said trust like that? Knight took a second, or five, to catch up with what was happening and shrugged, "Trust!" He broke into a grin. This was another game? Trust or Foresaken...?[break][break]

Well, naturally, he'd trust. That was just who he was as a person.

As Knight continued to enjoy the wonderful, floral scent created by Jenkins, a Flabébé seemed to have the same idea. It took Kay a second to realise the 'mon had joined them and he let out a soft laugh of delight.[break][break]

"Aren't you a cute one? Be safe out here." He waved before motioning to his Pokemon, "Come on, we should hurry so we're not late coming back again." He'd leave the Flabébé for now and head on.[break][break]

Maybe something else would cross their path!

Knight was mostly fascinating to see so many Weezing together like this -- how odd they looked! [break][break]

And yes, Cass or Thea might have tried to explain to him plenty of times how they were a variant found in Galar but Knight knew they were just making that up to tease him! Galar? Ha! Sounded fake![break][break]

This didn't stop him being interested and he pointed at the group that had gathered, "It looks like they are wearing hats!" He had his own hat on as well -- a rather crumpled straw-hat he had pinched from the garden shed at school.[break][break]

"Look, Fitzwilliam." He pointed to a Weezing that had spotted his Farfetch'd and seemed interested, "It's like it knows you!" Which was silly and not at all possible.[break][break]

Why would these weird shaped Weezing have anything to do with his completely normal, definitely not a regional-variant Farfetch'd?![break][break]

Maybe this was a good chance to catch one? Poké Ball, awaaaaay! (YEET)[break][break]

Once again, Knight found himself wandering around the Upper District of Slateport with a destination in mind and some Pokémon in tow -- this time Fia, his Brionne and Jenkins, his Comfey.[break][break]

"Oh, look, this is where we met." Knight pointed out to Jenkins and excitedly hurried over to the spot. He stood there with his arms wide, "I was on my way to buy some desserts that day!"[break][break]

Both Pokémon looked at the spot in amazement and Jenkins seemed to dance, or bounce, in the air and a pleasant smell filled Knight's nostrils -- aaah, relaxing!

Knight was glad to see Thea was recovering, a little if not entirely, from her panic attack. He knew she didn't enjoy being in enclosed spaces and while he found the cell to be an okay size, he knew it wouldn't be the same for her.[break][break]

He made a silent promise to himself that he would take care of both girls, though that was quickly derailed as Thea tugged him close and held him in such a way that he was forced to look down.[break][break]

"Wha--" Kay wanted to ask what was going on but he heard some weird noises and then... Something that sounded not-so-good. Some people had yelled and Knight thought he heard a plate or tray being thrown.[break][break]

Then the shrieking started and it sent a chill down Knight's spine. There was the sound of something wet exploding and something falling to the ground. Knight shuddered against his cousin but didn't ask.[break][break]

It sounded back enough, he could only hope she hadn't seen it herself.[break][break]

When they were offered the mochi to eat, Knight saw that Thea ate one and so he took one without complaint. They looked familiar but his thoughts were too addled at that moment to remember why.[break][break]

At least they tasted good, "Mm! They're peach flavoured!" He said brightly to his cell-mates, happily eating the rest of the mochi up. His happiness didn't last long as the chain attached to him (his mask?) shot out suddenly and attached itself to the bars of their cell.[break][break]

Knight let out a cry of surprise mixed with fear at that but soon understood what was happening. They were expected to head out there but be tethered to their cells... So they had no chance of escaping. [break][break]

Not that Knight had thought about escaping right away. He was too stupid and naive to do anything but follow along with everything as expected. He left the cell and went towards the glittering shards of the Tera Crystals. [break][break]

When Thea tripped, Knight tried to help her but was unable to do so. His body just wouldn't react the way he wanted to and he had to watch her get hurt. A few seconds later and he was able to move towards his cousin and crouched next to her, "Are you okay?" He was worried about the cut she had received but he hoped it wouldn't be too dangerous.[break][break]

Looking around, he saw there were many other people in the same situation as them and it made Knight wonder how they had been picked to come here... Had these people also got involved in the weird events around Hoenn too? He recognised the chains holding everyone as the same ones that controlled the Pokémon, so there had to be a connection.[break][break]

However, he didn't dwell on it for too long and got to work sorting out the tera shards from the rocks and other dirt that had been in the crates. Kay waved as Loot Guard arrived, "I think it's going well! Moiraine is up there with her at the moment." He inched closer to Noh and wanted to pat him if allowed to...[break][break]

The Vullaby let out a happy cry and Knight looked up to see the Mandibuzz scold it. He laughed and then looked back at Loot Guard, "I think the baby likes it too." [break][break]

It was several more minutes before the Pokémon returned and Knight glanced at the Mandibuzz, "So... Ready to move? I think this will be a nicer place to raise your baby." The Mandibuzz let out a screech of approval, bobbing her head too, and Knight cheered, "Awesome! Loot Guard, should I get Moiraine to help move the nest, or how do we handle this?"

He didn't want to step on any toes and waited to hear what the Ranger thought of the situation.

Knight chuckled, "Fishing up a Skunktank and then finding a Toedscruel when you wanted an ice Pokémon? Your luck is funny~" Knight grinned at his friend, knowing that she wouldn't mind such a small tease.[break][break]

He thought about it for a second and then shrugged, "If you want to go looking for ice types again, I don't mind tagging along?" Only if she wanted him there. Sometimes it was nice to explore alone and see what Pokémon were around. Kay had done that a few times himself but he found it more fun to find Pokémon with someone else.[break][break]

"Maybe a little ice-cream Pokémon?" He suggested, as she also mentioned she had found her Cufant while looking for an ice-type. It seemed Cass was a bit like him and couldn't resist catching a bunch of Pokémon...[break][break]

A snack sounded good though and Knight nodded, "We can check with the canteen if they have anything we can eat!" The workers were normally nice like that, but Knight had some money with him too, just in case they would have to pay.[break][break]

"Isn't the school kind of weird when it's empty?" He whispered as they walked through the corridors towards the canteen. There were some echoing voices or footsteps but they didn't come across anyone until they opened the door to the canteen. A few cooks were working during the break to supply food options for the clubs that had meetings.[break][break]

"Berry delivery!" Knight announced and one of the cooks looked over, "Oh just on time. Thank you dears, set them over here." Knight glanced where she had gestured and nodded, leading the way over. Something smelled so good and his stomach started to rumble...

Kay blushed a little, "I'm just lucky I have such a great teacher and a brilliant Pokémon to help me learn the basics." He couldn't take credit for how well he was doing when most of it was because Ulysses was so awesome![break][break]

Aqua Jet...? Knight hesitated for only a second and then, politely, asked Ulysses to oblige, "Do you mind? I want to see you use Aqua Jet, please!" And the Dewgong didn't need to be asked twice, using the move to kick things up a notch.[break][break]

Knight let out a yelp of surprise at the sudden surge of speed that soon turned into a yell of excitement. So this was how fast Ulysses could go?! Incredible![break][break]

They zoomed over the 'finish line' and came to a gentle stop, which Knight appreciated. His head felt a little woozy after all that excitement and he needed a moment to recover.

"Yeah they're super cool!" Knight grinned as they hoisted the Mantyke together. It wriggled a bit but Knight kept a hold and shuffled awkwardly to move the Pokémon towards the sand.[break][break]
Kay hadn't thought much about how far they had to carry the Pokémon but he didn't see a reason to stop until the Ranger did. They made their way down to the water's edge and Knight didn't mind the waves lapping over his trainers.[break][break]
Percy was occupied by his reflection again but the Florges had followed them on this little journey, watching Knight.
