[attr="class","monty"]Montgomery's eyes closed, content and warm as she settled against his chest. He let a low hum in response, though he was unable to respond as he fell into the dream world.

When he woke, he was in that field of flowers that he'd dreamt of before. It was the same place as the dream he'd witnessed the first time he was hospitalized.

And Ameena was ever present. She was always in his dreams now.

He found himself relieved that she didn't leave.

Montgomery nodded, looking back at the bowl in front of him. Despite the potato curry being flavorful and soothing, hunger left him as quickly as it had appeared. Instead, a different thirst crawled over him.

He released her hand, standing quickly. His feet carried him around the table, where Ameena was, and pulled her into his arms. It was most likely against the doctor's advice for him to pick up anything heavier than a gallon of miltank milk.

But Ameena was worth it.

"I'm takin' you to the bedroom. And I'm gonna worship you." It wasn't a demand. It held the silent question of "is that okay?"

Enough of death and anger. He wanted love.

[attr="class","monty"]Montgomery's shoulder was grasped in a firm hold, and then the shock of electricity ignited his nerves. If he could scream, he would. Instead, his muscles seized under Remiel's hold, becoming painfully stiff as he electrocuted him.

His skarmory, having noticed the attack, found that the hypno was of no concern. Her trainer was being attacked, and it was her duty bestowed by zacian to protect him.

Though the iron head was disabled, she could return to Montgomery, metal claws reaching out to attack Remiel for even daring to touch her master. She screeched with rage, fighting for blood shed.

"I don't think I'm that special," he teased her.

But, he adored her. He'd give her anything in the world if he had the power to do so. Slumping against the pillow, he reached forward to pull her down gently, to hold her in his arms.

"I can say the same for you."

He held her gaze with an intensity he'd never done before. "I don't need ya to protect me from him. Because next time," he began, balling his hand into a fist.

He smacked it hard against the table, angrily. "Next time, I'm gonna kill that fuckin' asshole."

This wasn't the Montgomery she knew. This was Montgomery of Unova emerging from the depths of his soul. He craved violence and death. And Howard was at the top of his list.

It wasn't until Ameena's hand extended toward him, a gentle reminder that he wasn't that man anymore. He was Montgomery of Hoenn now. The curled fist relaxed as he met her gaze, reaching out and holding it gently.

"I'll... I'll think 'bout it." It wasn't a no. But it wasn't a yes.

"I was more concerned about the recklessness you had just now. Robin, what if somethin' happened to ya!" he exclaimed.

He released his grip, rubbing his face. "No. It's fine. Do ya wanna explore further?"

[attr="class","monty"]Montgomery thought briefly to zacian, how amazed he was that such a beast of legend had chosen to protect Navy, to protect dewford. But now, there was some concern in his gut at the thought of it.

What if Ameena found herself at the end of the beast's sacred sword?

"I think that yer concern for her is proof enough of how close you've bonded." His tired eyes drifted over to her sleeping figure, curled into something akin of a ball. "Don't ya believe that she'd stand by you no matter what?"

He rested his hand against her side, tracing small circles against her skin.

"I don't think she'd do that for just anyone. The dream eating. Maybe I'm wrong. But I think she sees the potential in ya."

[attr="class","monty"]The answer to Ameena's question was... complicated. But a simple enough answer would be "I suppose."

He took a few bites as he thought about the best way to explain his exceedingly difficult relationship with Howard Slayte.

"He was a grad student when I hired him. Helped me pilfer some old ruins in the desert of Unova 'n all that. He was weak and spineless. He was afraid of everything."

The past he had been so torn over was spilling over from his lips.

"I imagined I could make him better. He had some sorta potential in him. I could mold him into a new man, someone who was even more valuable than me to Unova. I battered him. Bruised him. I exploded a damn claydol on him, dammit. And he used it against me."

He was a bit more pissed that he used his own tactic against Montgomery in battle, with a much larger army of explosives.

"Do ya know how many times I threatened to kill him? Pulled my gun to his head and told him I could end it right then 'n there?" Montgomery looked darkly at Ameena.

"I say he has his reasons to be angry."

And that scared him.

However, he didn't mention it, instead turning his attention back to Moira and Pipsqueak. "Did I ever tell ya that Pipsqueak wasn't mine?" he asked, propping his head on his hand.

"She was gifted to me. By Navy. Her brother was also blue like her, born from the rubble. He found 'em and brought 'em to Dewford. She bonded to my old skarmory. And since then, she became mine."

[attr="class","monty"]Montgomery couldn't help but sigh in relief as the curry and naan were brought forth. He quickly scooped a hefty portion into his bowl, his stomach beginning growl like a wild luxray.

And arceus bless Ameena. Her cooking was soothing and healing, as he dipped naan into the curry and shoveled it into his mouth. The hospital food was nothing compared to this.

"Fuckin' good..." Montgomery mumbled, eating like a mad man.

Though he composed himself, clearing his throat and sipping on some water as she joined him. howard slayte, a sadist?

Maybe not prior. But now? He could believe that.

Montgomery's foot tapped on the floor. "Yeah. I have." His spoon stabbed at the curry, as if he was playing with it. "Back in Unova, when I was with Rocket."

He paused. "I'm the one who made him join Rocket. I trained him." Slouching back, he heaved a heavy sigh. "He's my failure."
