[attr="class","monty"]Montgomery would finish taking down the moltres. It didn't matter to him that it was a bird of legend: the simple matter of fact was, it threatened their life.

He couldn't have that.

As the bird reached the ground, Pipsqueak dove after it. A drill peck pummeled the legend's body, attempting to render it useless and unable to fly again.

In a space like this, it had the potential to respawn and come back to life. This world was out of the ordinary after all. So, what qualms did he have with murdering it again?

"Petra! Let's move while we have the chance."

[attr="class","monty"]Montgomery thought momentarily to the time he spent in petalburg with Josh Devlin, with the swarm of misdrevus and mismagius haunting his mind. He stared at "Quinn Crisp" for a moment, wondering if she'd do the same.

Perhaps not, since she was attached to her trainer. So he glanced away, heading down the route.

The wood planks screeched with each step. He thought for a moment that they would collapse in and drop them to the basement. Luckily, it seemed they were just aching with age, not yet ready to break.

The house was silent, dirty, and it smelled rotten. "No one's been in this town for ages. Somethin' had to have happened to cause a mass exodus."

Pokemon, perhaps?

[attr="class","monty"]Josh gave Montgomery's mind time — albeit a short span — to recover from the ghostly attack. Pipsqueak was out of commission for the time being, understandably so.

He released dhelmise, the anchor floating alongside the deputy.

"Give 'em hell."

A pause... before an explosion of water surrounded the misdrevus and mismagius swarm. A whirlpool began to suck them in, pulling them with forceful gravity in the water.

Montgomery saw clearly now. There were no more apparitions, daunting him, calling him a murderer. Instead, he was saving the people of petalburg from an oncoming swarm with the aid of Josh.

He felt all the more powerful for it.

"Wake... up... Montgomery!"

Who was calling him?

Rubbing his forehead, his eyes adjusted in the dark, spotting the creature descending upon Howard. He grabbed his pistol, aiming...

PEW.

It struck the sigilyph, causing it to shriek in surprise. The shot was all his skarmory needed to confirm a target to attack, drill pecking it away from the trainers.

[attr="class","monty"]In his years of exploration and demolition, Montgomery had come to learn that you did not want to stir a festering pot of malice in an enclosed environment. He and howard slayte had one too many times that the walls of a cave or tomb threatened to collapse on them from petty arguments.

Montgomery was the man in charge of this expedition, though. And, as much as he wanted to display a sense of maturity in front of Yuina Higashi — since he'd aimed his pistol at her last time they'd encountered each other, Lavinia Kubrick's childish words set him off.

"Ya wanna take the lead then, Little Miss Know It All?" he grumbled, taking a few steps forward to tower over the teenager.

"I don't take any lip from inexperienced punks like ya. Show a bit of respect, and I'll give it right back to ya. Or, you can take yer leave now. Don't matter one bit to me."

He didn't wait around, instead swiping the explosive they found on the ground and placing it on the fragile surface he'd found before.

"Don't stick 'round here too long. We ain't got much time before we succumb to the poison." He stepped back, allowing the explosion to occur before stepping through the smoke.

At his side, blue light from Pipsqueak lit the way forward, Montgomery disappearing in the remnants of smoke.

Montgomery didn't have much time to flaunt the discovery, though, instead charging ahead to move the spare miltank out of the way in case the beheeyem decided to snatch a different one.

"arcanine, round 'em up and keep 'em away from here."

The large dog woofed, using his considerable size and intimidating bark to surround them. He trusted that the Pokemon would take care of that.

So he went to aid Locke.

"Pip!"

A glowing, blue skarmory appeared, charging through the air toward the psychic Pokemon. A MOISSANITE beam shown a light on the beheeyem, using the attack to startle it as minior had.

So, he decided to capture this one. Maybe he'd raise it differently.

"I appreciate yer words o' wisdom. But I think it's fer the best..." he muttered to himself.

Golden, glowing Pokemon? "Not long. I haven't seen anythin' like that. Are you talkin' about those noble beasts?"
