Despite having neither the patience nor the experience for it, a particularly chipper—yet particularly tired—Bella had found herself waiting casually, a rod in hand, by the riverside, sitting atop a pristine white plastic chair she'd dragged out here after hearing about the swarm, well, pristine beyond the mud that now marred the legs of the rather flimsy, wobbly chair. She'd been quite clearly out of her element, armed with a far too brittle and flimsy rod meant for catching Claunchers, something about their flexibility and small size assisting with actually properly hooking the little blue crustaceans. Most importantly and far too typically, she'd been dead tired, looking rather pale, dark bags under her eyes, a sore neck that she'd constantly moved about trying to regain some mediocrum of comfort, long yawns and jittery hands and legs, all signs that Bella'd forgone sleep over the last several days.[break][break]

Regardless of the streamer's far too awful sleeping habits, here she was, slouched lazily on her chair, a sports cap covering most of her face and shielding her eyes from the sun, her two favourite little cats on her lap as she'd decided to spend the day fishing, if only for a chance to try and catch one of these spooky thangs. Variety was the spice of life after all, she couldn't spend all her days putting herself in precarious situations exploring supposed haunted locales, not seeing the light of day for weeks on end all the time, right?[break][break]

Yet, Bella hadn't really accounted for just how long it takes for anything to really bite when one goes fishing. Seconds turned to minutes, minutes stretched on for... she wasn't really keeping count, and the cats on her lap were... really warm... and fluffy... more importantly, if she leaned onto one side... the sun wasn't so bad on her eyes... and...[break][break]

Just like that, Bella'd fallen asleep in her lawn chair she'd brought out here, still somehow keeping a grip on her fishing rod as she'd dreamt of those catch and cook 'tubers who made a living of roughing it out in the woods like this.[break][break]

She'd be in for a rude awakening when something had actually snagged her rod, yanking her out of her chair as her Sprigatito and Litten had leapt out of her lap as she'd practically screeched, nearly falling into the bass infested whitewaters.

Despite Bella's typically lackadaisical charm, as it somehow miraculously turned out, the streamer actually had something in her to back up her confidence, even if she did nearly trip over a cable heading on stage with the Singing Crew, while she couldn't play an instrument for shit, she'd actually been a surprising natural when it came to her voice, somehow.[break][break]

The first piece that she'd very heavily insisted on had, for all intents and purposes been a rather practiced song of the girl's, a secret she'd take to the grave with her in all honesty, a song she'd practiced in a solo karaoke session that she'd do pretty much every week, ~~ignore how depressing that might sound~~. The song Bella had requested had been... from a video game, one that she sucked terribly at, but had a secret obsession with the music for.[break][break]

Practically rocking out and singing her heart out, her lower somewhat more gravelly voice garnered from nights of bad habits and life decisions had let her manage much lower pitches to match the original singer's for the few in the crowd who might recognise it, and even without that, she'd been surprisingly good at shifting her pitch naturally.[break][break]

At some point the Singing Crew'd be able to get the crowd to match them, straight up joining in on the chorus after a couple go arounds. Bella'd had a good time all her own, at the least, throwing out fist pumps as she sang.

Bella'd practically been jumping excitedly, even without any regard for the fact that she had NO IDEA who she was singing with, between the three strangers, one of them being some old dude, the other some guy who liked like he fit better in a baseball team or with like a trucker hat on or something, some highschooler gal who probably got swept up in the hype and dragged along for the show.[break][break]

Whether it was hopelessly blind, naive optimism, genuine foolhardy stupidity, or true confidence that they'd knock it out of the park, none of the three alongside Bella would be able to tell. She'd nonetheless ushered them together, "we've SO got this, er--" she'd blanked for a moment staring at the faces of the three strangers, "right, riiiiiiight, uh, je m'appelle-- wait no, Bella, call me Bella," she'd said with a smile, "I'm something of a streamer, so I'm like dripping with that rizz, we've got this."[break][break]

She'd given the three a confident thumbs up, her Sprigatito and Litten escaping their poké balls to sit atop her shoulder, seeming to try and vouch for the quirky brunette's confidence.

As much of an excitable goofball as Bella had been, and despite her rather unique interests, even Bella had her limits, she'd pulled her hands back and upwards in a surrendering fashion as the Luxray had frowned at her, not particularly fond of the idea of potentially getting electrocuted. She'd flashed a grin and a nervous chuckle, hoping to portray she didn't mean harm.[break][break]

Of course, she hadn't been much aware of the fact that she'd been cowed by the Luxray because he'd noticed something, perking up to try to say something, yet as soon as she'd opened her mouth, jet black tentacles had shot out from the dark, grabbing her and dragging her away, a mixture of both horror and excitement in the voice that rang out through the hallway—"UUUUUUUUuuuursssuuulaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa—"[break][break]

"maaaake suuuure tooo caaatch theeee ghoooost onnnnn caaameeerrraaaaaaaaaa—"[break][break]

There'd been dread and fear in the voice that had been dragged down the dilapidated hallway, yet through it all, sheer ecstatic joy had rang through, childish joy at the chance to prove everything was real.[break][break]

What had been left with Eris had been Bella's bag, its contents spilled out revealing four poké balls, and her Rotom Phone who'd turned to Eris, looking a little worried and confused, but wondering if this was all a weird skit of its trainer's.

Bella herself hadn't quite noticed the leering gaze set upon her, yet, it seemed her pokémon had, her little Mimikyu escaping her poké ball, very much so unappreciative of the way her owner was being looked at, hopping forward to give the man a quick bonk on the head with the wooden faux tail before hopping back into the girl's arms. shadowy hands pushing and making distance between the two, even if the goofy streamer didn't quite understand what was going on.[break][break]

Bella being herself had simply clutched her pokémon closely, "Huh? Through the floor?" she'd asked, cocking her head slightly before angling it up, "Oh, phooie, you ain't a ghost then, just trapped like me?" she'd seemed a little disheartened, a frustrated, almost bratty frown on her face as she'd scrunched her face up trying to accept the situation, "Unless... you fell ages ago and died and really ARE a ghost haunting me?!" she'd managed to turn the situation around to her ideal scenario, her eyes lighting up excitedly, only for her Mimikyu to look up at her, and grab her face by her cheeks to make sure she looked back at the little mimic, an adamant shake of the pokémon's ersatz head had forced the streamer to accept and take things seriously.[break][break]

Only then had Bella heard the same strange laugh, a chill running up her spine, her grip tightening on her partner pokémon. An awkward mix of terror and excitement starting to burn through her, unable to make out just what the source of the laughter had been.

Bella'd struggled to her knees, practically peeling her face from the ground with a disgruntled groan, "hweh, Ursula?" she'd recognised the voice, though registering who it belonged to had taken a moment—her managing to utter the right name by plain instinct more than anything else. She'd almost forgotten the pain of her spectacular belly flop and faceplant, bolting up like an excited Poochyena, pointing at Eris with an excited agape smile, "hey! Ursula! What's up me homie?!" she'd called out joyously, no where near hip enough to greet anyone in such a manner.[break][break]

She'd fwipped her head around, realising something important, with it her whole body had turned as her hands went to immediately cover the camera of her Rotom Phone, "wait, shoot, Ursul-- er, you cool with getting filmed? Kinda on the job right now~" she'd asked, explaining in a rather lackadaisy tone.[break][break]

"Oooh, actually, how'sabout being my assistant for the day?! Looking for not-so-Gimmi-ghouls, spectres and the paranormal?!" she'd gotten a bit carried away, instantly moving her hands from her Rotom Phone to excitedly grabbing the poor girl by the shoulders, frantic at the prospective of having someone help her prove the supernatural real, and more than the simple pranks of ghost pokémon.[break][break]

In her excitement, she'd not particularly been mindful of how loud her voice was, nor of anything listening in, or how Eris' friend Reiner might react to her childish elation at the expense of his trainer.

"See, I figured this lil gal reminded me of you, Ursula, and well, we're pretty good friends now, don'tcha reckon?" Bella'd asked with a soft grin full of whimsy and joy, she'd offered the ball to the young girl she'd called a friend—even without knowing her actual name and none the wiser about it even being false. Though before anything could be said and done the Klefki had escaped her ball, hopping into Bella's bag in one quick effort.

"Aw jeez, we haven't even been together that long and you're gonna miss me? I guess I'm pretty good with pokémon, huh?" she'd chuckled, completely unaware that the Klefki had found and nicked her house keys. She'd given the little key thief a pat on her head before putting the pokémon back in its ball. In the sea of keys that was its collection, Bella hadn't seen her house keys, even with the knit Mimikyu charm attached to it.

"Anyway... er, here ya go, Ursula, take good care of her, alright?"

Her confidence and energy had reached an all-time high, not just one, but two pokémon that wanted to come home with her so far! Plenty pleased with herself, she'd continued her journey through the safari zone, a few bumps and bruises, but she hadn't minded much of that fact with her success so far, even if her paranoia that the trees were alive and out for her head was at an all-time high with two tree branch related accidents today.[break][break]

She honestly couldn't wait to finish her day and get back home to gush about it. While she'd usually focused on livestreaming when she was out and about ghost hunting, it seemed she'd been garnering fans talking about her ventures as a trainer recently, and while she'd had a ~~not so~~ healthy love for the paranormal, clout chasing and ego surfing was... pretty addictively fun.[break][break]

As much as she'd been daydreaming thinking of how she'd spin her tales this time around, she hadn't been focused much on where she was going, still managing to be careful of the nearby trees. Yet in her state of hyper-focused attentiveness alongside her daydreaming stupor, she clearly hadn't learnt her lesson yet, seeing something in her peripheral and instinctly reaching for it to push it aside as if it were another piece of foliage, only for a sudden pain to jolt her to her senses—one of her little fingies having gotten caught between the two sentient gears of a Klink and crushed just a tad.[break][break]

"Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeowch!" she'd cried out in a rather feral tone, shaking the Klink away and jumping back, gripping her hurt finger to try and dull the pain with a rather annoyed frown.[break][break]

"That was so not cool, dude!" Bella'd screeched at the wild pokémon, ready to met out her vengeance, "Nyaaaari! Do somethin'!" she'd shouted further, pointing at the Klink, only to grab her finger again as soon as the pain had renewed. Her little Sprigatito had of course, chosen violence, opting to Bite the Klink link by one side and flail it abit, dizzying the poor thing long enough for Bella to toss a ball at the sentient cogs.

Pleased with herself over the capture, Bella'd been making a happy stride through the lush environment surrounding her in the Safari Zone, humming a tune with a rather goofy jaunt, Nyari singing alongside her as the two pushed past foliage—making extra sure not to eat leaves again—as they did.[break][break]

Yet it seemed Arceus had another battle for their silliest little jester, in her pride and joy, Bella of course, hadn't been looking where she was going, she'd felt it and reacted instinctually before she'd actually realised what had happened—seeing the ground approach her face rapidly with a rather poor yelp of surprise. She'd tripped over something, faceplanting right into the dirt.[break][break]

"Ow, what gives?! Who put that-- ... there?" she'd kicked a fuss, jumping right into a fit only to stop rather shortly as she'd realised she'd tripped on a pokémon, a poor Dunsparce that she'd accidentally flipped onto her back and was squirming to get back right-side up.[break][break]

Perhaps the little tsuchinoko's plight had reminded Bella of herself and her own struggles that was existence and society, yet Bella'd felt a kindred heart with the Dunsparce, careful and delicate with her approach as she picked it up to put it right side up, only to immediately get bitten in the process.[break][break]

"Aw you like me that much?" she'd asked with a tender smile, completely misunderstanding the situation, she'd happily tried to catch the poor Dunsparce that had been gumming at her arm.[break][break]

As if summoned by the very mentioning of her name like some sort of haunting phantasm, it seemed Bella'd actually been rather close by, the wild ghost-hunting streamer in her natural habitat, or at least, had been. Once again, having failed to prove the existence of any real ghosts, and having promptly been kicked out by the ghost pokémon living atop the graveyard mountain. She'd never go so far as to disrespect the dead... beyond perhaps some tactlessly invasive questions as she'd call out for a sign or two on stream.[break][break]

Nonetheless, she'd found herself rather spectacularly thrown out by the ghostly powers of some wild pokémon, from the very top of the mountain surrounded by the route and the electrified pokémon that seemed to be occupying it, she'd only survived the fall with the quick thinking of her Mimikyu and Absol, the danger sense of the disaster teller alongside the soft felt body of the faux pokémon, in some comical attempt at a parachute had kept Bella from any serious injury, quite literally falling face first right next to the young girl who for some reason couldn't escape from crossing paths with the walking disaster that had been the streamer extraordinaire, Night Shade.[break][break]

It had taken Bella a second to reluctantly pull her head out of the ground, knowing she could hear people around, and refusing to show her face in such an embarrassing light, relenting only because she couldn't exactly breathe through dirt. The first face she'd seen was the only one she could recognise, "Oh. Hi Ursula!" she'd beamed with an award-winning smile, caked in dirt with a bloody nose. Her Mimikyu had noticed what Bella herself hadn't, quietly snaking her shadowy tendrils into the trainer's bag and grabbing a free poké ball for the shocking pog frogs that seemed to be milling about the route.[break][break]

Bella'd been lying there contemplating whether it's worth even getting up, she'd known there was no recovering from her embarrassment, even if nobody aside from her Sprigatito had been around to witness, and as much as Bella knew Nyari would never judge her for her clumsiness, it still stung both physically and emotionally that she'd been swatted by a tree branch.[break][break]

She'd still been trying to catch her breath when she'd heard a slight jingle, "Nyari, not right now, I probably should just get up..." she'd said, assuming her Sprigatito had wanted to play, yet, the jingle was coming from her left side, and Nyarium had been to her right.[break][break]

"... wait, huh?" she'd shot up, slamming her head right back into the tree branch and knocking herself back down with a startled yelp. Bella'd rubbed her head where it stung, sitting up a bit more carefully to avoid hurting herself again, trying to find the source of the jingle. In the slight moment of her own slapstick failure, it seemed Nyari had been a far more successful queen of the jungle, having both found and caught the source of the jingling, a rather odd-looking Klefki had been struggling, gripped tight in the Sprigatito's mouth, wiggling desperately to be freed from the clutches of the green kitten.[break][break]

"Oh! Nice job Nyari!" she'd exclaimed with joy, picking up the Sprigatito with a gleeful smile, a little unaware of the desperate struggle of the Klefki. Bella'd quickly slapped a safari ball against the Klefki's face in an attempt to capture it.[break][break]

Despite having an expert huntress travelling alongside her in the form of her Sprigatito, it just seemed Bella's ability to blunder far outweighed Nyarium's skill when it came to skulking and chasing prey. While Bella had successfully ducked underneath one branch, turning around to make sure nothing snagged, she hadn't seen the next branch she'd slammed her face into with a "BLECK!", shaking the entire sturdy branch while clotheslining herself.[break][break]

Her Sprigatito had jumped off in time, to land right on her stomach and wind her with a graceful leap, further rustling overhead as the two noticed a Pachirisu scurry away in a hurry, alerted to the presence of the two as Bella laid there recovering from both the embarrassment and the pain of the situation, a little teary-eyed with a trembling lip, she'd locked her Rotom Phone away in her backpack this time around, considering the last time she'd been to the Safari, the mischievous bolt of lightning that inhabited her phone had recorded her every escapade.[break][break]

You might be wondering why I'm doing this, I don't want any of these pokémon, to put it simply, I'm very smart and can come up with my own jokes.[break][break]

Given Bella's previous success in the Safari Zone, she'd been excited to have another go at it, perhaps even find that haunted place she'd seen before. Yet, unfortunately, Bella's sense of direction was less than impeccable. The streamer with a scar'd found herself lost and unsure of just where that particular spot had been. Armed with a handful of Safari Balls, a winning smile, and her bestie Nyari, there wasn't anything Bella couldn't handle today! Beyond cardinal directions.[break][break]

She'd dipped underneath an overhanging branch, taking to roleplaying as some sort of tracker or warden skulking about the jungle, her Sprigatito, wiggling her tush and tail joining in on skulking through the dense shrubbery like a powerful jungle cat of some sort.
