While the marine pokémon were plenty important, there'd been numerous ghost pokémon settled within the complex that'd be without a home if the Sea Mauville sunk completely. Roze had found herself alongside Hideo, hoping to locate just where some of these silly spectres might be, the conservationist armed with a flashlight, stepping through forgotten hallways while making sure she had an eye on both Hideo and her own lackadaisical Clefairy.[break][break]

"Hm, I think I've gotten us just a smidge lost, Mister Kino," Roze had admitted with a puzzled look, she was knowledgeable on pokémon and locales, enough so to know where she might have to look to actually spot ghost pokémon in more man-made environs such as this, but, that hadn't exactly meant she was good with directions, even with the aid of a map.[break][break]

"... ish ith thibs whey orrr... nho, nho, I thinmp we took a leffv errleer (is it this way or... no, no, I think we took a left earlier)," she'd muttered, her words a mess considering she'd put the flashlight between her teeth to shine upon the map, considering she only had one arm to work with at the moment with the other in a sling and cast, she didn't have much options at the moment.

Roze had observed from a boat alongside the young girl beside her, the sudden shifting movements of the groaning preserve had proven to be a particular problem on the local population of reef-dwelling pokémon who'd called this artificial reef home. Pokémon such as Mareanie, Corsola, Dhelmise, Wishiwashi and a diverse group of fish pokémon had seemed to be particularly troubled as the shifting seemed to threaten part of their home against a small lagoon that had formed from the coral and sand barrier that had naturally accrued against the hull of the complex.[break][break]

First and foremost, assuring the pokémon that remained trapped within the lagoon safe passage, "While he's not the most fond of water, I do have a friend who might be able to solve our first problem, Miss Halla," Roze had said with a reassuring smile, stepping off the boat on top of the lagoon's sand barrier, not particularly fussed by her feet getting wet in the process—nor her shoes getting flooded almost immediately.[break][break]

She'd sent out her Dugtrio, the trio of moles somewhat surprised upon finding themselves in a wetter environment than usual, only for the conservationist to reassure them with a soft pat on the head, "I know this isn't what we normally do, Soot, but I know you're the most talented for this," she'd offered encouragement for her pokémon, "I need you to dig a hole through the sand and coral to let the pokémon who can't climb over through, do be careful not to get flooded out though," she'd explained, and with a courageous nod, the trio had quickly dove into the sand from a spot of dry land that rose above the water.[break][break]

"Now, Miss Halla, while Soot goes to give us an evacuation route... would you happen to have a pokémon that'd be able to protect this segment of artificial reef from sinking alongside the complex?" Roze had asked with a smile, she wasn't sure what else they might be able to do with how much life seemed to depend on the anchor hold that was the submerged metal if it were to crumble away.

She'd cringed a bit as Rex had storied out the putrid petit four, not even wanting to imagine what such a deadly dessert would even look like, let alone taste like, turning away slightly as she'd grimaced, eyebrows raised, a pained squint, a wrinkled frown, chins galore, as her face gave away just how much she didn't like the sound of this cursed confection.[break][break]

She'd almost squeezed whatever life had been left in the captain away in the grip of her hands as she'd cringed, scrambling to continue her attempt to resuscitate the poor man before she'd accidentally committed manslaughter. Whilst listening to Rex speak, she'd checked to see if everything was fine, his pulse and breathing seemed altogether good for now, though it still troubled her that he wouldn't rouse from any attempts she made.[break][break]

She'd been a little too focused on the condition of the captain, missing entirely that Rex had misconstrued just why his Munchlax was fine. In a panic she'd turned around, "wait, no, that's wrong!" She'd almost shouted with a touch too much concern, like a main character from some sort of thriller mystery series, "erm, apologies for raising my voice, but-!" There'd been urgency in her voice, conflicting with her polite decorum, "Munchlax are typically hardy in that manner because their stomachs are built for that, not the rest of their body itself!" She'd finally explained in a hurry.[break][break]

Yet, as the Munchlax continued on its way, Roze had cocked her head, puzzled, "... that's peculiar? I'm very glad he's safe but... how?"

Roze had smiled as Liber had released his own pokémon, before Rumble had picked up on the mysterious ~~ticking~~ buzzing noise in the distance, the Pawmo had rather eagerly joined in on playing with the new trio, a rambunctious little thing who'd been brimming with energy. "I've got enough water for everyone, and there's a safe spring nearby we can collect some more from just a little to the south from here," Roze had offered, more than happy to accommodate the playfulness of their pokémon.[break][break]

The name Liber had given seemed familiar, yet she couldn't quite put her finger on it, just where had she heard 'Sen' from before? That aside, she'd smiled, "in this numerous an amount and aggressive, most certainly, though normally they're rather wonderful at spreading flowers and Combee honey's quite a treat," she'd commented further. She'd almost been ready to let another handful of pokémon out of their balls to enjoy a little play date, out in the mountains when she'd finally overheard the strange sound herself.[break][break]

She'd turned around to see just what was going on, when a pair of chonky little guys in the form of the two fattest Combee Roze had ever seen had flown right past her, just a pair of ~~rather aggressive~~ chunky ol' things, even their angry faces were rather endearing with just how tough it was for them to even fit in their honeycombs.[break][break]

Yet Roze had been amazed by something else entirely, "how peculiar!" she'd announced, cocking her head, leaning closer with intent interest, "It's strange really, by all known laws of aviations, there's no way these Combee should be able to fly! Their wings are far too small to get their adorably chubby little bodies off the ground--!" The Combees, of course, flew anyway, seeming to care not for what Roze and science itself deemed impossible, in fact, they'd been making a second round, attempting to tackle the conservationist, only for her Pawmo to jump out and deter them with an Arm Thrust intended to zone them off from his trainer![break][break]

A battle seemed to be afoot!

Roze hadn't actually picked up on the subtlety of Balor's statement, in that it might unfortunately be inferred that he tends to shy away from interacting with family as well as pokémon, she wasn't exactly the most street-wise individual, after all, her head far too high up in the clouds, and eager to learn more about the wonderful creatures that fill this world more than anything else.[break][break]

"Oh, my apologies, I was hoping to sort it out as best as I could while I was helping gather them up, and well, I couldn't help but notice," she'd apologised with a quaint smile, she was sincere but she was certainly curious. She'd practically lit up like a Tadbulb as the older gentleman had admitted that the worker's pokémon had their uses, taking it as a sign that he'd seen them in a nicer light.[break][break]

She'd almost flailed about, her one capable arm ready to swing about like that of a maestro at a performance, yet as she'd opened her mouth to speak, ready to relay the wonderful reliability of some of the pokémon she'd spotted, she'd been stopped by the man's comment that most pokémon tend to shy away from him. Almost deflating as quickly as she'd perked up.[break][break]

"Oh, well, I find pokémon to be wonderful, I'm a Pokémon Ranger here, mainly working on conservation of environs, and hoping to become a professor with expertise in that field," she'd smiled, "I've practically memorised the pokédex," she'd added further, her cheeriness returning, "there's many a pokémon out there though, Mister Balor, even if most might be startled, I'm sure there's just as many who'd love your company," she'd offered a word of encouragement. "Though it's certainly wonderful seeing the synergy of your workers and their pokémon, and it's wonderfully efficient how well you're utilising their strengths and habits!" She'd further complimented, unaware of Balor's situation.

She'd smiled back, clasping her hands together with rather obvious delight at the chance to rectify her problem easily, though after thinking it through she'd hesitated, "oh, I wouldn't want to trouble you like that, Mister Navy," she'd declined firstly, "it's a very kind offer, but I'm sure I can wait a little longer and buy some, if not here, I could take a day trip to Rustboro, Petalburg or Slateport, I'm sure," she'd added further, she hadn't wanted to trouble Navy with her problems, especially if it'd take away from whatever he might be planning to do today himself nor pry into his private life on a first meeting like this.[break][break]

She'd shivered slightly, even as warmly dressed as she'd been, the morning chill had been nothing to sneeze at, squeezing her hands around the ever so slightly warm thermos in her hands, she'd quickly uncapped it to take a sip to warm herself once more, "though, I am rather curious, what's got you up so early today, Mister Navy?" She'd asked, a conversation to pass the time at least couldn't hurt, from her perspective.[break][break]

Roze herself had always been an early riser, at least.

Despite Roze's injured arm, the conservationist wasn't one to hold still, yet she'd been rather stumped too, considering the situation she and Rex had found themselves in, the rather proud captain that had found himself knocked out on the floor was a problem all in itself, beyond the fact that the two would need to figure out how to solve the situation themselves, the fact that he wasn't waking up had been a rather worrying sign.[break][break]

She'd raised a brow as the volunteer seemed to send out a Munchlax to try and scout the situation, "oh, careful not to wander too far in," she'd warned, yet did little beyond that, hoping to put her trust in the trainer's own ability to understand his and his pokémon's limits, "it's rather worrisome that the captain hasn't woken up, let me just pull him a little further away and to higher ground, careful not to breathe too much of it in and keep your head high if possible, gases tend to settle," she'd further explained.[break][break]

It'd been a bit of trouble, considering she only had one arm to work with, yet with the help of her Clefairy, Allende, she'd managed to pull an adult-sized male adult man away from a potentially life threatening situation, with an extra measure of a complimentary Life Dew to help ease things.[break][break]

"What exactly is the plan?" she couldn't help but voice after her biggest concern had been addressed, turning her attention back to Rex and his Munchlax. She wasn't exactly sure how to handle gas leaks herself, more aware of their dangers from having read up on similar hazardous environmental phenomena.

Roze made her escape alongside Hyakkaryōran Tsubaki and Eduardo Hisakawa, continuing to do her best to support the two more experienced trainers as they did, she didn't dare turn back to see what had become of Admin Fox, lest whatever outcome causes her to falter. Yet as they'd ran, nowhere she looked was safe from the devastation wrought upon the land by this war, even by this battle itself.[break][break]

She'd used the pain in her heart to steel it, there'd be nothing to be done if she didn't survive to come back next time. Every stretch of land that had been blighted, the layers of permafrost that would choke the earth, the charred remains and vaporized lakes, Roze desperately wanted to believe this had been a bad dream, that if she closed her eyes, she'd open them to the cold light and bleached walls of the hospital waiting room she'd been in Petalburg for.[break][break]

Roze knew that whatever hope she had to make it go away wouldn't matter, she'd have to live and come back to help restore Petalburg, just like how she wanted to help restore Dewford. As Tsubaki had stopped to give Eduardo first aid—the grisly state of the man's hands a surreal shock to Roze—the conservationist had stepped forward to see if she could be of any help, yet, nothing she had would be worth much further, basic first aid all she could offer, especially with the scant material at hand.[break][break]

"I hope everyone's safe--"[break][break]

The sudden tremors had cut her words short.

Roze hadn't been quite aware she'd technically been trespassing on an work site, well, some part of her was aware enough to not get in the way of the workers, yet, with the entire town a bit of a dilapidated mess from the recent terror, she'd figured there wasn't much of a spot she could idle anywhere around town admittedly. "Oh, of course, I'd certainly trust a professional far more than my own hands, honestly," she'd said with a smile, she'd been rather truthful about this, no doubt they'd handle this environ better than her, her focus was more on pokémon habitats and ecology than that of people, even if the two overlapped rather often.[break][break]

She'd smiled further at the man's attempt to avoid dirtying her hand, "oh you don't have to mind me too much, I often get my hands dirty out in the field anyway," she'd explained, though a small little oop had escaped her mouth as he'd seemed to make a mess of his notes and scatter them, she'd hurried to help him recollect and sort them, though in the process had of course, given them a glance over to try and best maintain their order.[break][break]

The conservationist had handed what she'd collected back to Balor of course, though she'd puzzled over what exactly they were for, "Mister Balor, do you like pokémon?" she'd simply asked, cocking her head to the side, curious and trying to make a guess as to what he'd had such a collection of notes for.

She'd turned to the source of the voice, a somewhat rough looking man armed with a baseball bat, he'd seemed friendly enough even if he seemed a bit intimidating at first glance, "Oh, wild Combee?" she'd perked up with an amicable tone and a refreshing smile, "I'm out here for the same reason, a League commission, I take it?" she'd intended to take up the Combee & Vespiquen issue herself, though she hadn't been aware that it'd been issued to a public board for the civilians to take on too. She hadn't minded all that much, an extra pair of hands was always helpful, and she'd be sure to make sure to keep the man safe if necessary.[break][break]

"However, I haven't quite spotted much of a wing nor honeycomb just yet," she'd admitted with a soft chuckle, "just making sure Rumble and I don't dehydrate before anything else, Roze Falkner, ranger and conservationist, a pleasure to be of service," she'd introduced with a bit of a posh accent that betrayed her Galarian blood, offering a hand to the man in front of her.[break][break]

There'd been a soft buzz off in the distance, far too faint for human ears, yet, her Pawmo's ears had been the first to flick in the direction of the sound, followed by a soft fluffy orange face and the rest of his body, Rumble's nose twitching slightly as he seemed to lean closer to the sound.

The conservationist had been curious about the long howl echoing from the mountains. Fairly familiar with most, she'd been puzzled by the fact that she couldn't recognise it. Perhaps she'd misheard a Lycanroc, the call sounded distant, perhaps it had been distorted by the surroundings. Her attention had been far too focused on trying to discern just what she'd overheard, an effort that would have remained fruitless and unending from the simple fact that it belonged to yet another pokémon Roze had yet to learn of.[break][break]

”Hey, Miss, you—”[break][break]

An unfamiliar voice had pulled her out from her cycle of pondering, she'd turned to the source, only to be greeted by a man who seemed to recognise her—she hadn't recognised him however, despite the fact that she likely should know who was in front of her, assumedly one of her superiors, yet, Roze was nothing if not dedicated to what she loved to the point that she'd sometimes completely miss something like who her bosses were.[break][break]

"Oh? Yes, it's a pleasure, mister...?" she'd started off, immediately admitting to the fact that she wasn't sure who had been in front of her, though she'd chuckled slightly, "well, it seems I'd forgotten to pack tableware when I'd moved here, I was just hoping to maybe buy some if I could," she'd explained with a smile, missing the fact that it was likely strange that she'd be missing such a thing, considering she's been active in the region since May. The conservationist had given a courteous smile nonetheless, blissfully unaware.

The sudden returning burst of light and energy had at first, seemed so unremarkable, the ensuing explosion that had been centered on the frozen titan, almost silent until physics had regained its hold upon reality, ear-shattering rumbling, dizzying gusts of superheated winds, powerful enough that it had caused Roze to tumble, even with the Terrakion and Nihilego defending them. Her Altaria had almost been sent spiraling off by the burst that had consumed the Rocket Admin, though the living ball of cotton had remained steady enough so as not to drop Eduardo, hurrying to settle down on land and bless the hero's feet once more with the earth he was so used to treading upon.[break][break]

By the time Roze had struggled to her feet, it seemed they'd had to get ready to make their own escape before more grunts would appear, "right, of course!" she'd taken a moment to glance Fox's way, concerned whether or not the man would survive such an explosion... yet, she was aware that if she didn't make her escape with the other Rangers, she likely wouldn't live long enough to find out.[break][break]

With a quick, practiced whistle from the rookie Ranger, her Altaria'd do her best in assisting their getaway, Singing a lullaby to try to stop as many of the grunts as they could in their tracks, "Are all of us alright?" she'd asked, urgency in her voice, making sure they hadn't accidentally left someone behind in the rising chaos.

Roze had been spending the last hour or so staring at a batch of boxes, it'd been about a month since she technically moved here in Hoenn, yet she still hadn't unpacked her belongings beyond necessities. Of course, part of it she'd owed to spending so much time out, working or sightseeing, or battling against, and barely surviving manmade horrors who seemed to want nothing but the total destruction of its creators and the world around them, you know, just the usual girlypop things.[break][break]

Nonetheless, she'd felt her grip on reality slowly drifting as sunlight had blessed the small room in her little cabin, a good sign that this wasn't getting anywhere. With a sigh she'd pushed through her daily necessities—a task made a little harder with her dominant arm injured and in a sling—to put her mind off of the pandora's boxes sitting there, calling for her, begging to be opened. Yet she'd found herself lacking something as she was preparing breakfast, she didn't have plates.[break][break]

It wasn't long after that the young Galarian woman, who normally seemed rather well put together, had come practically bursting out her door, a thermos in hand full of the coffee that should have been enjoyed at leisure with some Kalosian toast that most certainly hadn't been left in the pan and lidded. She'd looked far more glum and dour than anyone who's met her thus far in this coastal region would have seen, and she was somewhat thankful she lived out further in the far outskirts so that her embarrassment could simmer and cool off in the early morning.[break][break]

By the time she'd reached the actual township of Dewford, Roze had found herself in another dilemma. None of the shops she could find were open or selling tableware. Right, crack of dawn. Even if she'd lived fairly distantly, this was a slight problem. She'd sighed, taking a small sip of coffee to stave off the cold, what was she going to do now?

Roze had nodded, even knowing that Fox, nor Eduardo nor Tsubaki's attention was focused on her, this confirmation hadn't been for any of them, even if they had been the ones to highlight it. She'd claw her way towards victory if she had to, if only to ease the burden as much as she could.[break][break]

"Right!" she'd called out with more confidence, a more direct response that collated a simple answer to those around her, she'd been surprised by the sudden action of Eduardo having so simply been picked up and thrown like a toy—yet she'd been quick-witted nonetheless, hurriedly tossing out another poké ball towards the man, an Altaria released from the ball, "Cloudy, hurry! Catch him, and protect!"[break][break]

The Altaria had fluttered quickly and with grace, making enough time to comfortably embrace the hulking man in a soft cotton shell, and hiding her head within her cotton down and bracing to protect the hero with a Cotton Guard, a grand burst of soft plumage further surrounding the airborne duo.

Despite the early morning, and her current situation with a broken right arm resting in a cast and sling, Roze had been rather active, a light backpack slung over her left, a Pikachu-themed thermos full of warm coffee slotted in it, she'd been aware of the damage wrought upon Granite cave and Dewford, though much like most, she hadn't been quite aware of what this 'Regice' that had caused it could even be, simply some catastrophic being that had destroyed an important habitat not too long before Roze had even moved to Hoenn.[break][break]

She could only really think of one other such destructive being, the steel colossus she'd struggled against in the deserts. She'd peered at her bracelet, the odd crystal embedded in it almost feeling misplaced and odd, did it really hold such extraordinary powers? Roze had sighed, she still hadn't been sure if howard slayte was still alive after all that had happened, but she'd have to hope that if he was, he'd be on a better path.[break][break]

Roze had hoped to try and push for an effort to help restore Granite Cave, though that was a goal a little too out of her reach just yet, having not quite met a particular handful of people just yet who'd be able to push her in the right direction. Though she'd been surprised to find that Dewford itself had been rather extensively damaged, despite knowing its decently close proximity to the caverns. She'd noticed a cleanup crew of some sorts working nearby, much of them far too busy to bother yet, she'd noticed an old man—assumedly working as a foreman, though he'd seemed rather puzzled and distraught for some particular reason.[break][break]

The raven-haired Galarian slowly approached with a soft wave and a gentle smile, "is everything alright?" she'd asked, "thank you for the effort you're putting into taking care of the damage, ah, yes! Right, my name's Roze, it's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance," she'd almost offered her right arm, before quickly correcting her mistake with her left in as amicable fashion as she could.
