She couldn't keep the excitement from her voice, but she managed to keep it hushed. The details of 'passing' as a Rocket were vague, but once someone in the organization approved of you, you were really a grunt.[break][break]

His warning didn't fall on deaf ears. "Like the Shard," they acknowledged. It had hunted them down. "Okay. I can keep my wits about me." They put their hands on their hips, proud of themselves. "I like the weird stuff that happens out here. I found a shadow-y pokemon just the other day. It fought a lot, but after, like, ten pokeballs, I got him." She scratched at her chin. "Not really my kinda guy, but he looks neat. Just don't think he'll play well with my team."[break][break]

"What the hell?" A small mint-colored ball rolled through their path. It was no rock, but its rolling disrupted the path of the rock Clover had been kicking and tossed it far off the path. No matter; Clover had something far more interesting. She pursued the ball, which popped up and onto its feet to reveal it was a Marill the whole time. "Oh my gosh, you look so crazy," Clover said in a rushed, excited breath. [break][break]

The Marill took one look at Clover and made a break for it, but Clover was prepared for that outcome. They tossed out a pokeball to release Oricorio, who flew in front of the Marill's path with a teetering dance to put it in a daze. Then, it was a solitary target, easy to catch.

Clover yelped as cold winds came their way. They saw the Ninetales, but it took an extra moment of scanning to see the trainer. It took a longer moment to assess if they were trying to help or trying to poach some Mareep, but Clover decided to believe the former. "Careful!" She warned, cupping her hands around her mouth to help her voice reach. "We don't wanna freeze them and ruin their furs, it-"[break][break]

A thunderbolt struck Clover, throwing them several yards away. Tropius cried out in anger and used leaf storm, filling the environment with sharp bladed leaves.

Cool. The tera shard was neat. They hadn't used them before, but it could be a cool tool. Terastallized pokemon looked a little strange. She figured Oricorio might like it, though. That bird was down for just about anything. Clover pushed down her amusement and refocused. Time to dive!

Dartrix struck out with leaf blade. Clover rolled out of the way a little late, the blade cutting into the shoulder of their shirt. She released Oricorio who used teetering dance on the other bird. Dartrix resisted it for a moment, then became confused. It's eyes moved erratically as it grew dizzy. "Nice work, Ori!" Clover's voice echoed through the chasm. They pulled a pokeball and tossed it at the Dartrix.[break][break]

The sound of a rock slide forced a shiver down her spine. "Ori, move!" The Alolan bird used hurricane to generate whipping winds beneath Clover, raising them up the rock wall and onto a higher surface to avoid the falling rocks.[break][break]

"Oh, hell yeah." Clover bent to grab the Minior. Maybe they were nocturnal. It might explain why she found two different ones sleeping in the safari. They had a hard job being so cute and adorable every day. Clover was dying to see them in action. "Now, we got a buddy for Mini." The bell rang through the safari. "Til next time," they said warmly as they returned to the warden.

Clover kicked a rock down the path. He'd been kicking it for a half mile, so it was getting a little rounded. If they kept at it, they could manage to make it a perfectly smooth pebble. It could go into the collection. In their pocket, he had a half-dozen rocks of different kinds. The only common factor was that they looked awesome.

The swarm of Shuckle made for an interesting backdrop as he snacked on his lunch. His half-sandwich was good, but the other half from earlier had had more of the aioli. This part was drier by comparison, but it still wasn't a bad sandwich. It would have paired nicely with something sour. Or sweet. Something refreshing, really. The dryness was getting to them a little, okay, but he really wanted to like his lunch. He couldn't give up on this sandwich, not yet. [break][break]

Honestly, he could go for a salac berry right about now.

She'd gotten some subtle discouragement from meeting with Mr. Cillian from the people she'd spoken to for directions. She'd received suspicious reactions upon explaining she had a gift. Then, suspicion made way to pleasant surprise when she identified the gift. [break][break]

Apparently, shadow pokemon were good gifts. [break][break]

The shadow Flygon floated above their shoulder as they knocked on the door. "Mr. Cillian?" She tried to think of a good introduction for herself. A sliver of doubt made its way through her mind, that maybe this was a little forward, but after talking about Rocket's projects with , they wanted to meet as many people as they could to improve their odds of getting involved in anything related to the Protectors.[break][break]

Plus, her fellow Hoyeon recommended he get on Cillian's good side, so he must be a good contact.

Clover stretched her shoulder after breaking to the surface. All of the reaching underneath the waves was getting to her. It was hard work to scavenge underwater. Worse still that they didn't know how volunteers managed to clean the ocean efficiently. Maybe if she had different pokemon that could do this work instead.
