Archen removed himself from Clover's shoulder to go assault some poor Wiglett in the sand. Clover turned his attention to Fenelle in full, considering. Monitoring the beach was the right play, but der idea to check water population was also solid. "I worry about what the Sea Sister is thinking with the mobilization of, erm, that water guardian." Should they also avoid speaking about Kyogre? It might be suspicious to anyone listening in. [break][break]

Their Hoyeon faith told them that the huge shifts in power in nature were a portent. She couldn't imagine what was coming, though. She just hoped it was Earth Mother and a solution to the harsh industrialization of Hoenn. "I haven't been to the beach in ages," they offered as the duo walked along the beach. "I wish it was under more recreational terms, but. I suppose we could be doing something worse, huh?" She wanted to ask what dee thought about der work in Rocket, but she felt like talking about it in public was awkward and probably unwelcome. Still, they wanted a better idea of what to expect. "How have you been, uh, preparing for the... stuff that's happening?" Very smooth, Clover.

Clover's heart nearly stopped as all of Josh's pokemon came in close. Wow, he had quite a series of Pyroar. Still, they took the opportunity to gather up their birds in their arms, letting both perch on her shoulders. She accepted the hyper potion and set Oricorio up to be more comfortable. "Your pokemon are super fast," she finally commented, a little stunned at how badly things could've gone if neither of them had reacted fast enough as trainers. "I don't think I've ever seen so many Pyroar in one place. They're all yours?" Oricorio leered at the one that had nearly taken her life, then walked across Clover's shoulders to sit tucked in front of Archen. It wasn't very comfortable for them, but it was a comforting weight to have their pokemon this close.

A tired smile broke across his face at the sight of Josh. "Thanks for coming to save the day," he greeted. The kiddos tripped over each other to get to the ride pokemon. He couldn't blame them for being especially enamored by the large furret. It was unusual to see this kind of pokemon at this size, but he imagined it was a comfortable ride. They preferred their Tropius as the only ride pokemon since their bond was so strong. [break][break]

"I hope I didn't pull you away from anything important." Clover came in close, taking a moment to appreciate his pokemon. "It was kind of silly to ask for help with this, but I was running out of ideas." And watching them do minor but widespread damage to the meadow was going to make them snap before the babysitting gig was over.

They considered how to answer the question about knowing of ultra space, but he dismissed it before they could come up with a reasonable answer. Saying, 'I saw it on a cryptozoology forum that said there was a mothman here, attracted to the electrical currents' would be insane. [break][break]

Her archen leaned across her shoulders and held a foot out to prompt Howard to let him board, but Clover took a sidestep away to discourage the behavior. "Pfft. Scrapbooking is for old people. I'm not thirty. And I do prefer the nature shots." She dismissed the thought with the flip of her wrist. "I like the rock layers across all the walls here. You can tell that this area formed over a long time." How quickly it had eroded was a different story. The elements here seemed harsh, but she was glad it didn't appear to be hosting an electrical storm. [break][break]

She stepped into the half-open door of the partially working power station. "How is the secret identity stuff?" They'd done only small delinquent crimes, so they had not yet faced enough to heat to warrant an ironclad civilian identity. But, they were also unsure they wanted to hide. Siding with Rocket was a very loud decision among her Hoyeon community; her parents didn't approve, but Clover needed to act outside the law in order to prompt nature's guardians to act. The war was an opportunity for catastrophe that could summon those giants. [break][break]

A Psyduck appeared on their path, looking confused. "What a cutie," Clover gushed, suddenly attentive and awake. Tropius didn't seem to agree giving his silence. "C'mon, let's get this one." She stayed seated on Tropius but leaned over to pick up Psyduck from the road, setting the pokemon in front of herself in the saddle. "You're so cute," she cooed. She rubbed at the Psyduck and got some bits of dirt off of its big head. "I think I have some berries for you, too." They pulled out a persim for the little fella and let the Psyduck slowly work its way through the fruit.

The defunct power station sprawled ahead of them. Clover was nearly vibrating out of his shoes at the sight of it. "Thanks for entertaining the trip, Mr. Admin Fox." He offered a grin, Archen leaning forward from his place on Clover's shoulders to join in, though his open maw was less charming than Clover's winning smile. [break][break]

"I know solo visits are discouraged when it comes to the rifts, but I've been dying to check these spots out. No one would tell me much about the history here." They were eager to see things for themselves. Storytelling was a large part of Hoyeon culture and those stories held lots of truth, but sometimes, it was necessary to see things for yourself. Who knew how much had changed over the centuries? And this area in particular didn't look like anything described by her elders. [break][break]

She shook the Rotom phone in her hands demonstratively. "Do you wanna be in my photos?" She had already designated an album to this area, though she wasn't sure how committed she was to photojournalism. She took a picture of the powerless cord that sprayed at their feet like a flail. "Lots of sick destruction out here," she commented absent-mindedly as she snapped it from two different angles.

Oricorio's dancing steps were interrupted with a blur. The bird cried out as the predator's heavy steps clipped its side. It's go-to defense, of course, was to continue its alluring dance. Distressed, it used its teetering dance, one that often confused those that looked upon it. [break][break]

Clover's spine straightened like a rod at the sound of her Oricorio in distress. He couldn't see his pokemon, which could mean it had danced into the tall grass. "Go," she said with all the gravity the situation demanded. Archen flew off her arm rapidly, though he was quite unhappy to see the lioness. He squawked loudly - giving Clover an idea of where to run to be reunited with her Oricorio - and generated a rock slide to chase the fast lioness, unaware of just how agile the pokemon actually was.

Clover stretched his arms overhead. It was hard work to saddle up on Tropius and let him do all the walking. They felt a little sleepy. The sun was setting and they wanted nothing more than to make it back home. A warm campfire would be waiting for them, and perhaps something special like biscuits. They would be flying home soon, but Tropius needed a break from the air since they'd been flying around nonstop lately. Clover had to admit that the gentle cadence of Tropius' footsteps was very comforting.

Oricorio danced and sidestepped her way down the path far ahead of Clover. "Don't stray too far!" She cried out, but the Oricorio did as she pleased. Clover shared a look with Archen, smiling. Archen rested on her arm, which Clover placed in front of herself so she could help groom his feathers. "I don't know why you play in the dirt so much," she commented aloud. Archen squawked in indignation. [break][break]

They ran a finger through his feathers to clear out bits of dirt. The bird really seemed just as happy to roll on the ground with the grubs as it was to soar above. Their undivided attention on their Archen left them unaware of how far ahead Oricorio had gotten.

The warmth convinced Clover to go out today without his button-up. They were initiated into Rocket weeks ago, but apparently, their actual evaluation was to happen today. And here he'd thought he'd already gotten in. Still, the oceanic museum in Slateport wasn't a bad meetup spot. They were pretty sure that there wouldn't be anything violent happening. More importantly, the neutral but semi-populated spot was a great opportunity to ask questions about what to do to earn her keep. The noise level was perfect for a conversation that wasn't meant to be overheard. [break][break]

Archen walked between her shoulders, alternating which one to stand on every minute or so. "No need to be so anxious," she said as she leaned against the rope separating her from the exhibit. It was an explanation of Tirtouga, which she was especially intrigued by because it came from the same time period as their dear Archen.
