The air crackles with electricity, leaping in and from the Iron Thorns as something inside of it has been activated. Kat has seen it in the work before, too, but it's as intimidating as ever. While the Rocket's expression is calm, Kat doesn't even make any efforts to conceal the terrified expression now - fixed on her pokémon as it follows her command.

Her hands wrap around two pokéballs - one that seems to charge itself, and one that calms her down.

The crunch of Irohta is violent and sparks electricity that is deafened by the cold ice. But it's a melee move - and just what the Annihilape needed, too. A Rage Fist hits the Iron Thorns where it hurts, with all its vulnerable spots exposed. She can almost see the bits of internal machinery break away. A digital roar cracks as the Iron Throns plummets backwards, barely able to hold itself from the destruction the ape's punches caused. Without her command, it goes into a Wild Charge using the last bits of its power as it goes into Overdrive, generating a heat that is palpalable even from afar, melting the last bits of the snowfall from before.

"No-" she grits her teeth, tossing another pokéball as the mech makes its final stand - an unfocused attack, zapping its surroundings as it lunges forward. "Zuzu, help him- Heal Pulse!" An Audino has appeared, utterly shocked at the scene unfolding in front of him, but nodding decisively as he pushes the crackling electricity away with a wave of soothing healing. Still, the mech needs more than that as it's overclocking.

But, as it's a pokémon still, the Heal Pulse managed to wrapped around its core, preserving it.

Kat lets out a long, quiet breath.

At the mention of the RKS simulation, Katharina frowns as she recalls what Xuying Zhou has told her about his experiences there. There seem to be wild things happening there, and she isn't entirely sure if she actually wants any of that. "Haven't been myself, but you hear stories. Kinda like Hoenn's afflicted with something," she sighs, knowing that she'll succumb eventually, too. The nature of a researcher is to explore the unknown, and gods does it seem like there's a lot of Unown in there.

It's interesting how the unreal terrors of the simulation do faze her more than the idea of being with powers beyond imagination right here, right now. "That would be really interesting," she replies with a thoughtful expression, looking around the cavern brimming with terastal energy. "I heard that they can also summon hallucinations, or something like that tho. How do you tell what's real?" Honestly, if she followed that train of thought, she'd probably start questioning whether Josh was real - but she keeps from that, instead cycling to the topic of teleporting.

Katharina pats her flinching Natu gently, giving her time to process the biggest backlash she got for a while. Even with mis-teleportations, it never gotten quite as bad ... or maybe she's scared of her environment, the tera crystals around her. Either way, Katharina keeps reassuring her while nodding along Josh's words. "Teein's raw power is something alright," which is a statement not quite fitting with the Natu dejected and soooooooo close to sobbing in her arms. "My little psychic super star~," she singsongs sillily to calm her down further, as Josh introduces his pokémon proper.

At her greeting, the Type:Null doesn't react too well, however, though Katharina doesn't appear particularly bothered. "Oh, no worries - I expect it'll take a good while till anything," she replies, thinking back on the articles that she's read about them. Fascinating in the most tragic sense possible. "I'm more of a walker myself, so ... nope." Looking around, however, it does seem like out is a long way away.

Honestly, Katharina isn't even sure how this whole situation will go down - but at least, she still hasn't ... deep breaths to hide away that you're out of your depths. She truly wishes that Maki would strike first, but she's already figured out that this is not the other's style - it gives here one more moment to think as Iron Thorns charges up in this Electric Terrain.

At least the Annihiliape looks fierce, too.

Wild Charge would be the ideal move. But she doesn't know just how powerful it will be on their current opponent, and something in her still hesitates - but she can't hesitate, not out here on the field. Not when she barely ever hesitates on anything. Or maybe, that's what makes this situation particularly bad. "Iroh- Irohta," she does spontaneously decide on a name for the paradox at last, "use Ice Fang!" Continuing the ice motif from earlier, perhaps, as she deems her other options too weak or too strong.

The newly named pokémon roars another time, perhaps maybe in cheer as it's finally gotten an actual name, before its machinery brims with frosty air as it charges onward. It is not the fastest, but it's attack would be even more devastating once it hit.

And once more, Katharina feels bad ... for not having interacted more with it sooner (if there had been time, always time ...). It's not how they want to treat their pokémon at all, only seeing it out on the battlefield ... she can barely summarise how it behaves, really.

Katharina is well aware that a single cog in the machine can't do anything to stop it all ... especially when it's not an actual machine that can be so finnicky. And yet, the anger still persists. Anger that might have drawn her more to the frontlines than usually, daring her to fill in a role that is not exactly a fit for her. But she's got ... means. Pokémon. Powers that are still beyond her scope, but powers that she can command if absolutely needed.

Still, she doesn't comment further now, knowing that this is a battle that she can't verbally win. There's other things to focus on, except ... "Numbers themselves also can have meaning," she remarks, actually not finding the concept of naming pokémon too strange. In fact, one of her closest friends Xuying Zhou has his pokémon named after letters ... gods she can only hopes he's staying safe out there. She sometimes regrets having extended a recommendation for him, putting him into war territory for his knowledge of computers and their linguistics ... but she knows that there should be actual fighters guarding, too.

"Well, ask your monthly bill," she simply returns, not feeling the need to elaborate - in fact, it's kinda ... too much talk. It makes her wonder, what the use of an actual fight would be. Has there been a solution that she's been missing? She really hopes not - but then, the actual fight picks up violently. Numbahs does her best effort to keep the Blastoise away from the tent, which ... actually seems to work, somehow.

It's not without losing one of her immaculately crafted and maintained shells, but it's- they're parts away. Confused, Katharina squints slightly as the pokémon unleashes a devastating Water Pulse now. It distracts her from Numbahs, but never too long - the glowing marks flash red, hastily letting her to pick out the correct ball to recall her in another pulse of red. The Illumina Dewott disappears in a ball that is befitting perhaps more of an ocean princess, not a warrior and fitting still - it's a dive ball decorated with small sea shelles, carefully taken care of by the pokémon herself.

(Is this Rocket ... actually also looking out for the tent?)

But this also ... she can't gamble on kindness here. "Teein, your turn! Teleport!" she calls for her Natu, who immediately latches onto the Blastoise and teleports them together - but given her opponent's massiveness, they only manage a couple of meters ... but a couple of meters that they well need.

There is a bit of relief as the other's Noivern catches Katharina by the collar, also just before Teein could go into another Teleport to have her survey another angle. She does almost plunge into the water, too, but Katharina manages to catch her and hold her under her arm like a soccer ball.

"Surveying," she does reply pretty unfazed to the other's concern, "Don't worry, we've done that plenty of times!" Even if she also seems a bit out of breath from the whole previous ordeal - now there's a time to observe the Wailord's concern, and do that quickly before it would sink below the depths again, perhaps ... never to be seen again.

"AH! There!" she then calls out, gesturing to a spot of red on the Wailord's exterior. "There seems to be ... a pipe or something stuck to it. Do you think you can calm down the Wailord while I go work on that?" she asks the other gesturing over there. "I can also have one of my pokémon help you if you'd like."

Katharina has avoided night shifts as much as possible, but eventually, there's simply been the time for her to square up against her fears. With her Teddiursa Froggiursa by her side, she's braved the night and walked out, making her way over to Oldale Town and then further to Route 102. Her eyes are always carefully looking around for any hint of danger-

"YI-!" she screeches as she hears footsteps, almost immediately jumping up a nearby tree, before she recognises the other figure in the dim electric light of her torch. "Oh, that you, Mitsuru- ... right, you are her, yes?"

That isn't a haunting ghost already, right-?!

Katharina can clearly see a teen struggling with suffocating expectations, even if Lavi might not really be aware of it herself - or even too bothered in any other situation, frankly. His expression both softens and hardens at the words, weighing how to take a firm stance on the other not having failed when in her rational mind, every logic would lead to this. The jab brings irritation, but she can't really get angry over it. "It's alright, Lavinia," they eventually reassure, out of their depths as they do not know how to deal with it - that's a case for a therapist that will probably never see Lavinia as patient, if Kat can make any guesses.

At last, however, Lavinia agrees to being treated - the nurse hopes that it might also be a moment for them to calm down, but now that they think about it, it could very much also result in the opposite. Well, she will do her damnest to keep Lavinia from spiralling while she can help it. "You're welcome," she replies to the thanks with a grin, attempting to lighten the mood, just to notice that the other doesn't see it. "I'll grab the things I'll need and get going," Katharina then narrates her doings, before also adding another question for Lavinia to focus while Zuzu opens up the kit and grabs the disinfection alcohol and bandaids, while Katharina puts on sterile one-use gloves and small pads.

She nods along, smiling faintly at Lavinia's clear fondness for Chrysanthe. Then, she snorts a faint laugh at Lavinia's impatience. "I've got everything now, and it'll be over in a flash." Wartime more than anything has taught her to be quick about treatments. However, being so close also makes her stop for one moment, looking at Lavinia with a frown in her face ... there seems to be something else wrong, with how much of a sudden discomfort she's showing. But they'd better get those scratches cleaned first, before the teen changes her mind again.

"It can sting a little," Katharina announces before cleaning out the cuts and scratches in Lavinia's waves with firm strokes, taking hold of her chin lightly to gently move her face this way and that. "Zuzu, a SU-04 Heal Pulse, and then hand me the bandaids," he tells his Audino, who nods with an affirmative coo. The Heal Pulse subtly touches Lavinia, helping along with healing up some of the smaller scratches while also having the small additional effect of refreshing Katharina as well.

"Putting on the bandaid on one nasty one here, and we're good to go." Katharina removes the gloves from her hands and gives them Zuzu who puts everything back together. She pats the normal type on the head with a smile, "Thanks, buddy," before turning back to Lavinia.

"Feel any presence of your pokémon returning yet?"

It seems like the teen is more fractured and scattered than Katharina has first anticipated. And she is far from complacent as Lavinia commands her pokémon, or snaps at them rather. The nurse doesn't raise her voice at this, merely looks at the other with a barely raised eyebrow as she assesses Lavinia in the peace of not being perceived at the moment. Wonders if there's anything to do except helping the search come along, with Teein being able to quickly blink in and out of existence at many places, even if ... unwanted ones at times. Her psychic abilities are strong, still, so even a brief moment should be enough to sense if there's anyone befitting the description.

Kat does wonder what that comment about sensing pokémon might be ... but probably just something about not wanting to be surprised.

Refusing treatment is something that they do see rather often in their line of work, so there isn't even an exasperated sigh at Lavinia's harsh refusal, until the last words. "What the," Kat whispers under her breath, inaudible, as she actually halts for a moment, letting Lavinia get ahead of them for a couple of steps, before regaining themself. At least Zuzu's fairly strong to carry the kit on his own for a bit, too, so they quickly jog up. "No, you don't," Katharina retorts decisively with a frown, "Besides, I think Chrys won't be too happy to see your face all scratched up," she says matter-of-fact-ly, walking ahead of Lavinia now with a short sprint to subtly slow her down by standing half in her way. "And we don't know what'll happen out here. Any wound treated is a win for the future, really."

Maybe, there's a hint of exhaustion that they share with Zuzu as he brings up the rear. As they're both primarily nurses, they share the same sentiment regarding Lavinia ... and the Audino looks ready to start the treatment whenever, looking carefully at the teen's state should there be anything else bruised - any irregularity in step, anything.

Kat however quickly bats the exhaustion away, and instead asks "When did she go missing? She probably didn't manage to go too far, so we can limit the range, too. Stand still for a moment - everything will be okay. Chrys sort of has a way, I got that feeling from our encounter. And, breathe, take a deep breath," Kat adds, now grabbing both of Lavinia's shoulder with gentle force and a vice grip if needed, and comes to a halt.

"Chrys is fine."

It's a relief to see the other calm down, a relief that Katharina doesn't linger on too long - but even things that she considers as certainty are something to celebrate, however briefly. She gives the younger one a short, reassuring squeeze before letting go of her shoulder, and nodding. "You're welcome," she says, before nodding. So it is Chrysanthe Kubrick after all. "Lavinia ..." She is about to make a lighthearted quip about babysitting gone wrong, but the next words make her slightly falter, in fact.

"Uh," she makes, slightly stunned - she's heard that phrase before, sure, but the intensity is ... a bit on the alarming side. "Well, we're going to prevent that," Kat decides to bulldoze past it, seeing as there might be more than she could do as a stranger. Her voice takes a more gentle tone as she comes down from focus mode, nodding. "Those psychic pokémon are yours, right? Do they sense anything nearby?" she asks, before also taking out one of her pokéballs. It's already shaking in her hand already with restlessness, and covered with various stickers that Teein wanted to have. She throws the ball upward in a decisive motion, and out of it a Natu comes flying.

She, however, also settles quickly on Katharina's head, as she can't properly fly just yet. "Dear, we're looking for a kid, I'm thinking of her right now." She feels a clumsy psychic nudge as the Natu enters her mind briefly, before she nods affirmative on her head. Katharina doesn't see it, but assumes it happened. "Can you teleport around and see if you pick up any Psychic signature? From anyone, actually - we can use any awareness we can get."

As Teein disappears in a flash, she turns her full attention to Lavinia again, regarding her once more with the look of a nurse. "Let's patch up some of the most grievous wounds - wouldn't want an infection here." She pulls out a firstaid kit - which frankly, is half of a suitcase with the kind of emergencies she needs to be prepared for - as well as calling for her Audino with the same quick, decisive motions from before.

"Who started it, really?" They wouldn't be there if Rocket hadn't invaded Petalburg first - though Katharina is also aware that the League has been gearing up for this confrontation, too. Both sides are to blame, but she's thrown her lot in with some. And well, the League didn't fly in a whole army from elsewhere ... yet. She sighs as her mind wanders to war logistics - better stick to the current situation, her job. The job that she so abruptly lost after just settling in, though she hasn't been hit as hard by it as others.

"It's for calculator," she actually explains before becoming irritated by the wisps of smoke. Numbahs in that regard is as hot-headed as Katharina is, quickly putting an end to the lit cigarette by cleanly cutting it off. "Do you know how much money you could spend on other things if you didn't pay to ruin your lungs?" she snaps back.

She catches a brief glimpse of the Rocket looking behind her - something that she is well aware of. However, there's the end of the rope and a release of the tension that she's held in her body as the Blastoise starts spinning. "Ceaseless Edge!" she tells Numbahs, who charges forward to meet the Blastoise as much away from the tent as possible. She takes out both of her shell blades that start extending and glowing with dark energy as she pushes against the Blastoise - damaging herself in the process as she pushes onward to stop its advances.

Katharina believes to have caught a glimpse of something with the Talonflame and its trainer - a resolve that makes her shiver. And a horrific realisation, too, seeing Froschl simply being there, sleeping. "I'm sorry, oh my god," she breathes out. Her hand moves to recall, but it's already too late - the sweet scent of honey burning fills the air as the Froggiursa disappears, singed, from the battlefield.

And with that flame, the snow comes to a stop. Katharina still shivers, however, as she grits her teeth. As the Rocket has shown, this is not a time to hesitate ... and she isn't sure how this will go. Still, her hand moves quietly to the next pokéball - and she takes a deep breath. She's been fascinated with a pokémon's ability to adapt, but she still has to figure out if these kind of pokémon even adapted, or simply existed. And this one, maybe it was built ...

There's many questions about their kind and about this specimen in particular that she still hasn't found answers to, even as she's ended up at their place of origin.

But resolve forms on a shaky foundation as she calls for Iron Thorns in this situation that grows more dire and dire - even if she is not a trainer yet that actually can utilise its full potential, as it enters with a roar. "Electric Terrain," she tells it, and it follows with robotic movements. The melting snow has riddled their surroundings with puddles that start crackling with electricity, as does the air - Katharina reasons that her hair standing on end is because of that.

She hears the swears only briefly before she could actually figure out the person - that's because the person is running towards Katharina, in a way - or rather, running into. The nurse has no idea what's truly happening, but instinct and intuition tell her when she's dealing with a person that's been driven out of their mind by something.

Katharina generally has a complex relationship with respecting personal space - it and its opposite are both needed in her occupation. She usually uses split-second judgement to decide what's the correct one, and deals with the consequences later. Here, she can't just let that youngin - probably still a teen - run around on her own, like a headless Torchic into a lair of Rockets or, frankly, whatever might still be out there and be worse.

Her hand has reached out to grab the purple-haired's shoulder, bearing a similiarity perhaps to another person she has seen ... which has also been confirmed by the shouts before. "Listen, nothing good will come out if you're running around like this - I can help you search, okay? It'll all be figured out." Her grip is firm, unyielding in a way that people usually find comforting - she isn't sure if this would also apply with the teen here, but she could try.

"I haven't seen her today, but I think I know who you talk about. Black, a bit purple, haired kiddo? About this size? Kinda ... dreamy?" she asks, releasing her grip on the other's shoulder. She recalls Chrysanthe from Sea Mauville where the kid somehow has managed to stumble into danger. "I'm nurse Katharina, but you can just call me Kat, too," she also adds and shows her medical license so the other would know that she, probably, is someone trustworthy. IDs can be faked, but well ... there's nothing she can do about that.

The Espeon and Hatterene would be able to only sense steadiness from her - a direct mind that focuses on the task at hand at the moment, professionalism devoid of emotion as she can't worry right now with someone to worry about right in front of her.

Oh honey, don't get me even started. There's more things that you can be allergic to than you know, really. But it's also mostly stuff I won't get really in contact with, so it's all groovy!

"If you could get a single word descriptor as a title, what would it be?"
Some would say the Snappy. I disagree, by the way. And I don't have a better alternative, either.

"What is your favorite instrument?"
Clackers. Yes, that's an instrument. Yes, I mean the "children's toy".

"What question do you yearn to find an answer to?"
Finding some answers about Froschl's entire deal would be nice, but I think knowing the deal of the Grand Unified Theory would be a bit more pressing.
