Aisling watched the swarm of Shuckle from a distance. The sight was unusual, even to someone like her, who had long stopped caring about the natural rhythms of the Pokémon world. The Shuckle, with their slow, deliberate movements, seemed almost frantic in their search for berries, stuffing them into their shells with a sense of urgency that was hard to ignore.

She reached into her bag and absentmindedly pulled out a Sitrus Berry, the one she had picked a few days earlier without much thought.

"Someone's in a hurry," She muttered to Ninetales, who sat quietly beside her. The Pokémon’s icy gaze was fixed on the Shuckle, but it made no move to engage. Like Aisling, it simply observed, detached from the bustling activity below.

Aisling tossed the Sitrus Berry into the underbrush, watching as it disappeared among the leaves. "Maybe they’re onto something," she said quietly, more to herself than to her Pokémon. "Or maybe they’re just running in circles, trying to avoid the inevitable."

Aisling wandered around Slateport's night market, sucking on her usual cherry lollypop as she browsed each stall's wares. If certain products seemed to make their way into her pockets, then it was all simply a coincidence that had nothing to do with her sticky fingers.

She had ignored the low hum at first, even as it grew louder, accompanied by the raised voices of some of the market attendees. Finally, when the sound distinguished itself as a buzzing, Aisling peered through the crowd. Her eyes widened as she made out a swarm of combee charging through the streets.

Then, Aisling realised where she was standing – right next to a florist, the bouquet of roses she had been admiring still in her hand. With a cry, she tossed away the flowers and hunkered down, throwing her hood over her head and hoping that the combee would ignore her.

Aisling didn't have a good reason for being in Fallarbor, the same way she didn't have a good reason to be standing by the pasture, watching chaos ensue in the form of wayward mareep. At first, she was just watching by the dirt road, leaning on a wooden fence, and idly sucking on a cherry lollypop.

Then, there was a whirr of activity as a Tropius sprung out of nowhere and landed on the road. Their owner then appeared beside said pokemon.

"Tch. Well, I guess it gives me something to do."
[break][break]
She tossed out a pokeball, and Ninetales sprung out. The pokemon blinked, surprised to be outside.

"Icy Wind!" Aisling ordered. Obliged, the pokemon swished its many tails, producing a gust of chilled air towards the flock of mareep. She didn't care so much that the boy and his Tropius may have been caught in the crossfire as well.

Aisling never truly wanted to become a Pokémon Trainer, but growing up in a town where it was the norm, she followed in the footsteps of her friends. She lacked the passion for the journey, but went along with it to fit in. Her lack of enthusiasm made training difficult, and after several disheartening experiences, she abandoned the path.

Aisling received Vulpix as a gift from a well-meaning friend who thought it might spark some excitement in her. She raised it out of obligation rather than love, and it eventually evolved into an Alolan Ninetales. The bond between them is complex—marked by a sense of duty rather than true connection.

Eevee was a childhood companion, given to her by her parents in hopes it would inspire her to become a great trainer. The two grew up together, and despite Aisling’s indifferent attitude towards training, Eevee remained loyal. Over time, it evolved into Flareon, reflecting Aisling’s inner turmoil and frustration.

Now 30 years old, Aisling lives in Hoenn, far from the people she once knew. She works for Team Rocket, a decision born more out of convenience than conviction. Her life is one of routine and disillusionment, and her Alolan Ninetales and Flareon symbolize the conflicting parts of herself—detachment and lingering anger. Despite everything, there's a small part of her that wonders if things could have been different had she followed her own path from the start.
