Aisling shrugged a shoulder by way of response to Howard’s compliment, not certain and not caring if it had been sarcastic or not. A flicker of light at her periphery followed by the smell of nicotine told her that the man had started smoking.

Her eyes remained on the computer screen, watching the painstakingly slow download bar.

"What do you plan on going on the rest who can’t be bribed? Blackmail their families or just ‘deal’ with them all?" To Aisling, seemed simpler to just fight anyone who opposed Team Rocket. Bribery and blackmail just seemed like too much hassle. Then again, Aisling had always been the type of person to brute-force her way through life. she didn’t leave much for subtleties.

She was tempted to open up one of the files to snoop. But after chastising Howard on his lack of technological expertise, she didn’t want to messing up the transfer either.

Aisling was walking from Mauville City, the sun casting its golden light over the sprawling landscape. The route was dotted with tall grasses and the occasional trainer passing by. She was idly watching the network of rivers and streams that crisscross the area, when Flareon suddenly began yapping. Aisling stopped in her tracks, her confusion evident as she looked down at her pokemon.

The fiery Pokémon seemed unusually eager, darting around and nudging Aisling with increasing urgency. Its attempts to get her attention were growing more insistent, and it wasn’t long before Flareon began trying to get her to mount it. It whined and pawed at its back, looking at Aisling with a mix of frustration and determination.

"Flareon, what's gotten into you?" she snapped, trying to push her pokemon away.

The afternoon sun beat down on the rural landscape, casting long shadows across the fields and forests that stretched out as far as the eye could see. Aisling squinted against the bright light, her eyes darting between the thick trees and the open clearings where wild Spoinks and Grumpigs might be found.

She snuck a furtive glance at Absinthe, vaguely wondering if the woman was planning on selling the pearls too, or if she was going to use the pearls in some sort of experiment. The woman was a bit of a mystery, though Aisling didn't make much effort to change that fact.

She normally wasn't one for small talk, but the silence was bothering her. "So... have you ever done this before?" Aisling didn't imagine that the swine pokemon would start shedding pearls.

A headache was beginning to form. Was it her imagination or was there a faint pulse of psychic energy in the air? A sign that Spoinks and Grumpigs were nearby?

Sucking on a lollypop, Aisling had been minding her own business as she wandered through the bustling Lilycove Fish Market. The salty breeze carried the familiar scents of the ocean, mingling with the sharp tang of fresh seafood. Vendors called out to passersby, and the market buzzed with the lively energy of tourists and locals alike. Aisling, with her Ninetales trailing silently at her side, had no real purpose for being there—just another stop in her aimless drift through Hoenn.

But the tranquillity shattered when a shrill cry cut through the air. A flock of Wingulls and Pelippers descended upon the market like a storm, their beady eyes fixed on the array of food laid out before them. Aisling watched with detached curiosity as the birds grew bolder, snatching fish from stalls and dive-bombing anyone who dared to resist.

It was only when a particularly feisty Wingull tried to snatch the lollypop out of her own mouth did Aisling finally spring into action – or rather, she ordered her Ninetales to.

"Use Icy Wind!" She shouted. Ninetales yipped, swishing its tail forth and generating a gush of chilled air upwards towards the flock.

This was not Aisling's idea of a vacation. She should've known better that any vacation sponsored by work (or in this case Team Rocket) would have the caveat that she had to do actual work. Or maybe Aisling simply wasn't listening when the tasks were explained to her.

Either way, she was dressed for the occasion, with a vibrant flowery shirt and a pair of sunglasses to complete the look. Said glasses were tossed when Howard's Claydol had teleported them into the dark computer room.

Aisling had to resist the urge to roll her eyes as he struggled with the computer. How was that even possible? They were practically the same age. Once she caught his flash drive, she took a moment to play with the miniature Aerodactyl keychain, as though not at all concerned for the need for urgency.

Then, she plugged the flash drive in and copied the files over. Unfortunately, it seemed that it would take a few minutes before the large files would be completely copied.

Unfortunately, the Combee did not ignore her. In fact, a Shiny Beedrill (it's leader?) seemed to materialise out of the swarm. If Aisling didn't have her lollypop stuffed in her mouth, she would have let out a scream.

She got her wits together enough to call forth her Flareon – perhaps it was about time she abandoned her habit of keeping her pokemon primarily in their Pokeballs – and the fire type pokemon sprung forth, standing protectively in between its owner and the Shiny Beedrill.

Flareon let out a threatening growl, raising its hackles. It was only then did Aisling realise that there was someone riding the Beedrill.

"Control your Combee!" She shouted, with a mixture of anger and fear, eying the Combee which did not seem to be obeying this woman.

Spotting a faint shimmer, Aisling swam closer, her movements deliberate and calculated. She brushed aside a few strands of seaweed, revealing a Clamperl nestled within a crevice. It looked almost peaceful, its shell closed tightly as if unaware of the world above. For a moment, Aisling hesitated, a sudden pang of sympathy for the little Pokemon. But she quickly dismissed the feeling, focusing instead on the task at hand. Reaching out, she carefully pried the Clamperl from its hiding place, the cool, smooth surface of its shell resting in her gloved hand. Then she began her ascent back to the surface.

Aisling descended into the cool, dark waters off Slateport’s coast, the pressure of the ocean gradually building around her. Her lungs stung as she navigated the underwater landscape. The sea was alive with movement—schools of Luvdisc darted by, and the vibrant coral swayed gently with the current. Down here, it was serene, almost otherworldly. Flareon waited on the surface, but Ninetales swam beside her, wisps of frost shedding off in the watery depths. Aisling’s eyes narrowed as she scanned the seabed, searching for the telltale glint of a Clamperl’s shell among the rocks and sand.
