"yeah," he answers, "simple enough. on paper, anyway. something told him these pirates would be putting up a good fight. he glances over at giada--involuntarily, for a second longer than necessary--before turning away on an exhale.

yeah, the outfit had taken some getting used to.

once they reach the bank of some small stretch of water, he takes out a pokeball and releases his lapras. "the cavern's just beyond here." he turns back to giada. "do you have a pokemon who can swim, or--" marcel manages to keep his expression neutral, somehow. "--do you need a ride?"

[attr="class","mthread"]priam's moved to a private room shortly after his arrival: the first warning sign. the next is their doctor, who lingers even after the round of check-ups. the man sits in a chair, more focused on his phone than either of the two rockets, occasionally looking up to send them a wry smile. after some few minutes, his phone goes off and he leaves the room. a few more minutes pass.

marcel arrives outside the room, remedying his state of disarray as he walks. as he straightens out his cuffs, the doctor gives him a run-down of priam's condition, all good news. "thanks," marcel takes out a few notes, placing them into the man's open palm. as he does so, he catches a quick glance of his clipboard. he scoffs. "feel free to overcharge him too, bastard needs to learn his lesson."

the doctor smirks as he pockets his reward, laughing along at marcel's suggestion. he makes some light-hearted jibe about favours, drinks too, and marcel forces a grin, though he isn't paying him much mind. as the doctor pretends to busy himself with a nearby trolley, marcel pushes open the door.

"you--" his sharp gaze lands on abner, "--have some explaining to do."

some part of him had wondered if he would follow through. though he had been long-aware of the boy's prying, as well as the final destination his well-placed contacts were to lead him to, he could only gauge his intent face-to-face. he could not blame razz for asking questions--curiosity was instinctual--but he had to step in before things got too far.

it was a shame, he couldn't help but think, that of all people, they had sent abner kipling as his muscle. the two rockets stand along the wall by the door, masked by illusion upheld by his zoroark. marcel listens to razz's footsteps, watching as he walks past them without second thought.

he sends abner a sidelong glance: a long, meaningful look. "he's just a kid," he says, low enough for only the other rocket to hear, "remember that."

the illusion flickers, then falls apart. marcel turns to look at razz as the figures of him, abner, and their pokemon are revealed; for a fleeting moment, his expression looks regretful.

"don't even think about running." his voice comes out cold.

[attr="class","mthread"]it's probably for the best that abner returns his gabite; vega could get out of hand at times. his pokemon begin working together against the other pokemon on the field. years of fighting alongside each other make their movements well-timed, in sync with the other.

marcel's attention is directed to the appearance of a new pokemon. he hums. "not bad." priam's assessment is pretty on the mark; he wouldn't mind having it on his team. "flamethrower." the honedge is momentarily drowned in flame before a pokeball hits it square on the blade.

a cry from vega pulls marcel's gaze away. the noivern looks to the battlefield, and then to her trainer: a question. marcel makes some vague sound of assent, and his pokemon leaps into action. belle slinks behind, accepting the role as damage control.
