it takes a while, but he eventually manages to catch the culprit amongst the whirling sand. the diglett lunges at his foot, hitting it with IRON HEAD. marcel yelps at the pain and steps on the pokemon, a reflex more than anything.

still, he can't say he isn't happy that priam wants to visit. a slight smile finds its way onto his face, but a quick glance at priam--his health bar, to be precise--means it doesn't last long. "hey, be careful." marcel restores his health a couple times with LIFE DEW, only satisfied once the bar turns green once more. he feels himself grow energised from the effects of the spell.

"alright," he stands up, "might as well join in." he swings at a cluster of farfetch'd, his distaste with the action evident despite the mask on his face.

[attr="class","mthread"][attr="class","healer"]this battle was never going to be quick, be easy, and marcel can feel the energy begin to drain. he sees his mana run low and downs a potion to restore it. LIFE DEW raises his and emma's health points, strength seeping back into his limbs. he takes a breath.

a MOONBLAST comes his way; this time he manages to dodge. another DECORATE is cast on emma.

when marcel turns he finds himself face to face with the gardevoir. when had it gotten there?! he hadn't even sensed it closing in on him. he begins to feel drowsy as he stares into its wide, swirling eyes. he knows HYPNOSIS when he sees it. before he can fall asleep, he wacks the pokemon on the head with his staff, breaking eye contact. he was safe, for now.

staggering back to restore the distance between them, he attacks with DAZZLING GLEAM again.

[attr="class","mthread"][attr="class","healer"]there are times that marcel, as impressed as he was, questioned the gamemakers' decisions regarding the realism of the game. he feels the cold bite into his skin; there is not much he can do about it. if he had feeling in his lower legs, he might have felt the edges of his robe, now heavy and wet with snow.

there's another figure up ahead. since this wasn't a player kill area, he proceeds with little caution. "you're here for training, i presume." he doesn't sound half as confident as he usually does, the chattering of his teeth filling the pause, "want a hand?"

so long as his teammates covered him, he should be safe. with the egg still clutched tightly under his arm, he casts a DAZZLING GLEAM at the opponent, hoping the bright light would daze him slightly, giving emma and gemma an opening to attack.

[attr="class","mthread"][attr="class","healer"]though his face is mostly obstructed by his mask, the smile that graces marcel's features is a clear enough response. he accepts the gifts graciously with a quick tap of the trading window. "that's very kind of you." with many players eager to up their kill count, it was refreshing to meet those who didn't attack on sight. interactions like these were much more satisfying.

the compliment comes unexpected. his surprise is subdued. "thanks. perks of the class, i guess." the apostle subclass he went for had a multitude of available equipment, but marcel (evidently) had decided the robe and veil he was currently wearing were the best of the lot. it had taken some work reaching the levels for it, mind. "yours is lovely too," he returns politely, "the jewellery's a nice touch."

[attr="class","mthread"][attr="class","healer"]marcel can't help but laugh at emma's question--he should have seen it coming, really. he follows the line of her AURA SPHERE as he opens his mouth to answer, though the words die in his throat as soon as he sees what they're dealing with.

two menacing orbs of light and the ominous figure that commands them: evidently, not a glitch. a quick DECORATE is cast on the cyborg in anticipation of their battle. his grip on his staff tightens.

he watches the pokemon for a beat longer before finally making his move. "now." he says moments before a PSYBEAM is hurled at them. trusting emma to be able to cover herself, he summons a SPIKY SHIELD to protect himself. when the next one comes, he meets it head on with DAZZLING GLEAM, but the attack breaks through the light and hits marcel on the shoulder.

swearing, he uses DECORATE again. with only one special attack at hand, he's relying on emma to break through the pokemon's defences with brute force.

[attr="class","mthread"][attr="class","healer"]once again the new spawns are greeted with a DAZZLING GLEAM. with the light impairing his vision for a moment, he's only able to spot the DRAGON PULSE with a few seconds to spare--the fraxure had aimed blindly, but its risk had paid off. he tries to summon another SPIKY SHIELD but the move fails, forcing him to take the hit head-on.
[break][break]the drop to his hp isn't too bad, with his typing and the mist around them. as the counter drops to 0, marcel goes to replenish the MISTY TERRAIN, watching it rise back up to 5.

narrowly dodging the snap of the other fraxure's jaws, he retaliates with another DAZZLING GLEAM.
