The meowth's ears perk up when he notices a pokémon as small as he is hiding behind the very legs he'd collided against a moment ago. He offers a pleased mewl as greeting, before turning back to the man's voice. Huh? 24K's trainer? Can't this man adopt him instead?

"I'm so sorry," comes Erin's voice. "I hope 24K hasn't been giving you trouble." The meowth looks away, as if by postponing eye contact he could escape his eventual return to her.

Is the little bugger really making trouble for a complete stranger? Of course he is. Erin steps aside to go after him.

Meanwhile, the meowth takes the man's bottle gratefully. This mister is so much nicer than his own trainer. Despite being so rich, she hasn't bothered to buy him any water yet! What if he got sick from insolation? After having a good gulp of water, his paws point towards his leg as if to ask if the man is also okay after the collision.

What's taking the cruise so long?

When Erin settled for a lower-end cruise, she did not expect it to offer such a poor service that it could be late. There's a handful of other passengers waiting in line, all annoyed at either the wait or the heat or both. Erin's sun hat, too, does little to diminish the burning feeling of a hot midsummer day.

Looking down, she notices her meowth to be in an even worse state. He looks restless, his whiskers dangling as he looks from left to right for something. To avoid the heat, he runs towards the shadow offered by a tall tree, caring little about the pokémon currently occupying that space.

Rocket HQ's labs are awfully well equipped, the young woman can't help but note as she gives herself a self-guided tour around the north wing. Still lagging behind in comparison to her own, mind you, but hers is specifically furnished to fulfill her needs, as opposed to labs set up for public use. Inevitably, her mind wanders to imagine how much better a head scientist's station would be.

Erin is ready to leave when a curious sound reaches her ears. It's emitted by her porygon2, ever faithfully trailing behind her. She follows the pokémon's gaze to a particular door, closed and with a

KEEP OUT

sign. Curious indeed.

Immediately she's greeted by a man exhilarated by whatever he's about to accomplish. She eyes him, then eyes the so-called Deedee, and barely manages to stifle a laugh.

"What's taking so long, Deedee?" she adds to the incoming onslaught of questions directed at him. Perhaps staying to see this experiment through wouldn't be such a bad idea.

[break][break] Her decision is made. Her gaze moves on to scan the room. Without quite turning to the first man who'd greeted her in, she asks, "What exactly are you trying to accomplish?"

This next one, Erin has to consider for a moment. It emerges from the water, makes a small pirouette and softly lands on the river bank. Truly worthy of its title as mirage pokémon. It's no shiny dratini, this one, but it's a dratini nonetheless. And already it looks easier to train than the dragonair she already owns. Erin nods in her gengar's direction.

"Finally your turn."

The gengar's grin widens. The taunt is followed by a shadow ball, since Erin's "Don't hurt it" discards the idea of a punch. It'd just be left disoriented and momentarily blinded for his trainer to throw a pokéball at it.

Today, she's on no wine-tasting escapade. The bar has a comfortable atmosphere, yet it's missing something that she can't quite point out. The room is filled with a soft, jazzy beat that makes her feel like she's in a secret agent movie. The bartender is floating vodka on some strawberry juice for her. For the first time in a long while, she has the weekend free. So what, pray tell, could be wrong? She leans forward, resting her chin atop the back of her hand.

Erin subconsciously turns towards the general direction of the door just in time to see a new arrival. There, a familiar face. She has to put in a little effort to remember his name, considering she hasn't seen the man in over a year now. An expression washes over his face, probably as perplexed as she herself feels.

She smiles. "Long time no see, Mr. Daniel's."

That's not his real name, of course she knows. Just her own little nickname, borrowed from the whiskey brand he'd been drinking the first time she met him in a bar. Her smile doesn't falter.

I initially wanted Erin Caulfield's team to be geared towards a city life for their utility (porygon, rotom, klefki, alolan meowth), but there's only so many pokemon that fit the criteria so I've been giving her some purples and generally elegant-looking pokemon too.

They go from an ugly eiscue to an ugly tentacool, and that puts things in perspective for Erin. "You can scare it off if you want," she tells the gengar. Still, it's a no from her on catching. She continues, letting Mars have whatever fun he wants before returning to her side.

It's neither audible nor visible, but a sigh escapes Erin's lips. Anxious and impatient. Just the mention of his little sister changes the atmosphere, and for that she silently thanks her. Erin will have to give her a call later and think of a good gift.

Maddonis's laugh elicits a smile from her. "She would, and nobody could stop her." There's no way of denying it. It could be frustrating for the one having to follow and keep her from going overboard, and thankfully that responsibility didn't fall on her often. But if there's one singular thing common to all parties Stroyah was in, it's that they could not be called boring.

Again, a shrug, though this time it's given teasingly. "You'll have to make do."

She perks up at the question. "You mean beer pong?" He can't say party without fan-favorite beer pong coming to mind. Granted, the lack of party supplies makes things a little more complicated. No matter. When there's a will, there's a way. "I have a willing mantine to hold the glasses for us, as long as we replace the beer for some scotch."

Would that get the pokémon drunk in the process? They'd have to wait and see, she supposes, should Maddonis agree.

It almost feels like a vacation, to get to visit the safari after so long. Mars must feel rejuvenated as well, judging by the smirk on his face. Actually, no, he's always smirking like that. With a smile on her face, she rubs the gengar's head, not caring about the inherent cold of his body.

It's not her fault there's an easily traceable feed to connect her to the meeting. Really. She believes it to be intentional, and that's why she doesn't bother to show up in HQ. Erin may not have been the organization's most involved member for a long time, having chosen to lay low as she figured out her place after what happened in Verdanturf and Fallarbor. She still hasn't quite figured it out, much to her distress, but that doesn't mean she wants to miss this event.

Had Rocket really captured this many powerful assets recently? She must have been too busy with her day job to keep up with her night one. There's a small kindling that threatens to light up, but she blows it out before it has the chance to. When questions start to pop up, she waits.
