Just her luck to choose the too-friendly cabin neighbor out of the handful she had available. Erin lingers by the door until she sees him move back to a low table. Only a polite smile is given to the man at his welcome. "I am," she answers simply. She doesn't offer her name in return, at least not out of her own volition, because she expects and intends for the visit to be short-lived. None of her plans for the day seem to be meant to be, sadly.

When she picks up the communicator and only hears static coming from the other end, she knows something is going on. One malfunction could be attributed to poor maintenance, even disuse, but two in a row have the engineer in Erin peeking out. "It isn't working either," she mutters. She's so close to the man he might as well have heard her, but they'd need no more confirmation than the flickering of the room's lights.

All submarines have a backup energy generator that she expects to have kicked in as soon as the lights first went out. If whatever was causing these malfunctions also reached that? Erin doesn't want to imagine it. She turns to Leon. "It might not be safe to stay here. I'm going to the engine room." It isn't an invitation, but it's not a farewell either. Whatever he wanted to do about the current situation, she wouldn't complain.

The stampede of tsareenas is not something she expects, but she doesn't let it bother her. It almost looks like a sport, if she stops to think about it. A hand (or arm, rather) movement from her gardevoir has one of them stopping midair, and after that it's only a matter of throwing a pokéball and waiting.

Right. Savannah. She totally knew that. Erin stifles a laugh, so convincing it might as well have been real. Her plan is to laugh it off as a joke, but it's stopped midway. It's in the middle of its execution that the boat rocks.

Honestly, she's not scared as much as she is annoyed. Why choose a cruise when she could've easily taken off on her noivern? Until now, she expected it to be a much more peaceful ride. Clearly that isn't the case anymore.

The noivern in question is released from her pokéball with a click. Erin's about to climb on her shoulder when she remembers the blonde girl. "Need a ride?" she asks Savannah, a lot more calm and composed than the situation warrants.

Erin freezes at the mention of Rocket-related matters. Her own contributions to the cause were all kept in the dark, just as she wanted them to be. Right now, they're in a private property, away from prying eyes or ears, and that's the only reason she doesn't immediately deny involvement.

She shrugs. "Too early to tell." It's the most honest, yet nonchalant, answer she can offer. Erin had known a boss from Kanto once, and that didn't go too well. She isn't ready to trust someone new simply because of some pretty gifts and a charming speech.

"Maybe he'll actually last longer than the others." Who knows, Walsh could be the outlier that brings the whole average up. The focus then turns to Maddonis himself. "Were you in the meeting?"

Her eyes follow him to the pool. Watching him in the water like that, she can't help but think of just how similar pokémon and trainer look. Beautiful, in the most frivolous of ways. After a few seconds, she asks, "How's the water?" as if she needed to justify her staring.

The memory is too fresh on her mind. Despite the cheer and high spirits at the beach party, or maybe because of it, Erin has to take an early leave. Heavy bag and all. She spots an empty (or half-empty) bench nearby, and decides it's time for a break.

The bag is dropped on the bench with a thud loud enough to startle anyone sitting on it. Erin herself doesn't see it. Next, a wispy violet body follows. The gengar takes a seat right next to the bag. If the blonde woman were to look up, it is the gengar that she would see. Showcasing that chesire-like grin of his. At last, completing the mismatched row, his trainer plops down on the bench with a sigh. She sounds exhausted, almost as if she had carried the bag herself.

In truth, it is emotional wear pressing on her shoulders, rather than physical exertion. After all, it was the pokémon who carried the bag for her. Even after sitting down, it is him that takes charge of the interaction to come. While Erin busies herself with thoughts she knows are better left untouched, her gengar raises a hand in greeting.

The sun hovers above the cruise ship with incredible strength. It's just past noon, prime time, and Erin's rotom phone is providing her with relaxing background music as she reads a book at one of the ship's less populated terraces. That is to say, one of the rotom phone's apps has been programmed to take the sound of the waves all around them, cancel the noise of people in the vicinity, and play that feed in a louder volume than it would've been heard otherwise. A clever invention programmed by none other than herself and for no other reason than being bored one day at work.

As sweet as the background sounds were, though, they did nothing to moderate the heat. She could really use a drink right about now. Luckily for her, an employee happens to pass by just in time.

"Do me a favor and bring me a frozen margarita, will you? Mago-flavored." Erin stops then to take a proper look at the girl. Blonde and with a gentle expression; just the kind of person Erin likes to avoid. Most importantly, her face is one she has fresh in her mind. She met her not long ago in Slateport. "Ah, it's you... Saharah?"

Truth be told, Erin hadn't expected to ever see a Glosse in a situation of clear discomfort. Then again, she didn't expect to find herself talking to one in Hoenn either. They were part of the life she'd left behind, of the life she returned to only once every few months for a dinner, a meeting, a party—and even then geography kept them apart.

When Maddonis speaks of his elder brother, Erin can see hints of bitterness that she's not certain can be attributed to his drink. "Can't trust somebody that forces you to sun tan," she jokes. The irony of the situation dances on her lips, before she takes a sip of her cocktail and swallows it with the drink.

Putting on her metaphorical serious cap, she adds a casual, "He'll pay for what he's done."

The real question is whether Maddonis would have a hand in the retribution he's due. She certainly hopes so. Then, he could leave the region, and by proxy her, to the new life she was still trying to figure out.

pkspr script guide

Quick guide on how to use the pokesprite scripts. We have 2 scripts you can choose from: pkspr and pokesprite. Keep in mind neither of them will show up in mobile view mode, because Proboards does not load the script in that view mode. Read below to pick the one you want to use!

PKSPR
Only goes up to GENERATION 7
Friend-sized 40x30px
Has both pokémon and item sprites
Sometimes conflicts with Proboards' pagination script :(

You can add more classes to specify your pokémon is of a certain variant, like:
gender - male/female
form - alola, mega
color - shiny
dir - left/right

If you try to use variants that don't exist, the script will not read them and will instead default to whatever does exist.

In the example above, meowth doesn't have gender-specific variations, so the script is showing the default sprite for a shiny alolan meowth.

Erin isn't part of the crew hired to protect the submarine, and doesn't suspect the odd trainer here and there to be anything other than passengers like her. For her, the trip was just a routine voyage from port to port that she could spend reading a book while drinking some wine. However, when she tries to call room service for said wine and finds the device inoperative, those plans change. She has to find a solution for her predicament. Thus, she finds herself tapping on the door to the room adjacent to hers.

The man's words hold some truth to them, and that warrants a glance towards her bar neighbor. This politician's crimes were not the first to go unpunished, and they sure wouldn't be the last. Had they not been exposed to the public, Erin is certain none of this would be questioned. He would walk away without a second glance, shielded by others just like him. Still, it's a "Point taken," and she's happy to let the topic rest after that.

That is, until he delivers his follow-up question. Is she sorry? She lowers her glass to the counter, unsure of whether to lie and save face, or tell the truth and blame it on the alcohol. In the end, neither of these excuses becomes the driving factor for her answer. Truth is liberating, and what better circumstances would she find? Whom better to be truthful to than a complete stranger, under the secrecy of a dim light and many whispering voices?

"Should I be? He can't feel dejected when he's dead." The hypocrisy of funerals never failed to make her laugh. "Even alive, I could not defend someone like him. Why? Do you feel sorry for him?"

There's a face that keeps her awake at night. Has been for a year, give or take. So she goes out at night to drink and forget, or so she'd like to claim. By now, she's acquainted with bartenders from at least half the region, her visits commonplace even on weekdays. The truth is, Erin has come to crave the warmth of a club filled with dancing bodies, the background noise of animated conversation as she sips her vodka. Shaken, not stirred, and she'd laugh at the irony of her situation.
