The match was over. Balder might've actually overdone it, by using the opponent's weight against himself to slam him into the ground. If anything, it clearly showed that the "Treetop chicken" was not used to fighting. And the way the Riolu was worried about his trainer proved that point even more. Balder looked behind him, towards his Combusken. "Burst, go get the painkillers in my bag. The guy's gonna need them."[break][break]

The chicken nodded before running off towards the changing rooms where the bag was left. While the pokemon was going to search the meds, the Alolan Avenger approached the fallen warrior who almost tried to look though for his pokemon. The countdown was over and the announcer was declaring Balder the winner, but the man did not care right now. He placed one knee on the ground beside the challenger.[break][break]

"I should've held back a bit more, I didn't think you'd take the hit so badly. For now, don't move. I've sent my Combusken to get some painkillers so we can get you out of here. I'll pay you a bottle of vodka another time since meds and alcohol are not a good mix." As he said those words, Burst returned and jumped upon the stage, giving the painkillers to Balder. The Gym Trainer then proceeded to give them to the Riolu. [break][break]

"Make sure he takes two of them now, and two more before he sleeps. It's gonna help a bit. And you, Treetop Chicken, put some ointments around your lower back, that's where you might get some marks from that throw. Your buttocks as well possibly. And when you feel better, come see me in Sootopolis, at the gym. I'll buy your Vodka bottle at that moment."

The Ralts had considered the man's words carefully, before nodding and sending him the image of the two of them, walking on the flower field. Balder smiled as he took out one of the Safari pokeballs and "captured" the befriended creature. "I'll need to keep you in there for now, but you'll get to ride on my shoulder when we get out of here." As he got up, the young man dropped the berries on the ground ans was going to start heading back to the entrance.[break][break]

... Until he heard a rattling of leaves. The Gym Leader turned around to notice a small Chikorita, eating the berries he had just dropped. The little creature was eating them quickly, as if it had been starving for a while. In order to confirm that, Balder dropped some more berries. Hearing the food drop on the floor and the leaves, the Chikorita hurried to them and began to devour them.[break][break]

Feeling like leaving the creature here might not be a good idea, Balder proceeded to capturing the Chikorita, dropping a pokeball on it to capture it. The leaf creature was then absorbed into the spherical object and began to shake on the ground. Here's to hoping that the capture was a success and that the little fellow won't starve anymore.

The capture had worked. The ball shook a couple of times amidst the flower, before doing the low tone sound to confirm the capture. The alolan man smiled as he went to collect his catch. With this, the team for the totem gym had acquired a new guardian and would allow for a bigger diversity in the challenges. The man stuffed the pokeball in his pockets, before looking around.[break][break]

His eyes stop on a creature at the edge of the clearing. A blue bob cut, with two orange horns popping out. An incredible find in this remote location: a ralts, in its shiny variant. One of Balder's target for this hunt, raised to a whole new level. The man couldn't allow for sure a perfect opportunity and creature to escape from his grasp. But... how should he approach the Ralts?[break][break]

No use pondering about it. The young man plucked a flower from the field and grabbed some oran berries from his pocket. The man slowly advanced towards the shining creature, who proceeded to hide behind a tree as Balder approached. "It's alright, little one. I'm not here to hurt you." The little creature poked a part of it's head out slowly, clearly wary and scared of the man.[break][break]

Suddenly, thoughts were pushed into the gym leader's head: Questions, asking if it was safe. If the man could be trusted. Why would he be trusted. So the creature could use telepathy... Balder sat down, surprising the Ralts. The man then placed the berries in his hand and extended it towards the careful pokemon. "I don't have any actual proof that I'm not dangerous. But if you can communicate to my mind, surely you can read my intents too. I want you to join me, in making this world a better place. If you grab the berries, I'll assume that you're willing to come with me. Of course, I'll need to put you in a pokeball as per the rules of the safari, but still. What do you say? Want to see a bigger world and help me defend it?"

Even with his best attempt, the Blitzle had been unable to best the Leafeon that Kyle had sent to chase him out. If anything, however, the small zebra could find solace that he might have given a hard time to the pokemon. Defeated, the pokemon could only lay on its side, waiting for someone to take him to the infirmary.[break][break]

Upon the Blitzle's defeat, the door at the end, where Kyle was heading, slid itself open, revealing the path forward. If he were to step out, he would find himself under an arched hallway, with openings to the side leading to fields of grass and flowers. In front of him, rocky stairs that were going upwards, circling around the tower as they rose up.[break][break]

A voice resonated in the speakers set around the location, as the man ventured forward. "Congratulations for your previous victories, challenger! You now have half the trip done before you can face me. A simple straight line. Climb the stairs, defeat the guardians, then we'll get to see if you have what it takes to claim the throne."[break][break]

As the broadcast ended, the screech of a gigantic bird resonated in the area. A totem appear from the soil besides the open hallway, depicting the image of a soaring eagle. The screech of the bird echoed again before an immense shadow flew over the hallway. One look in the sky would allow the challenger to see a Braviary, albeit much bigger then usual. As if answering the bird's call, another pokemon's roar happened, signaling the advance of another wild pokemon.

While Falco was out to guide the Rabbit, Balder decided to venture further into the location. Carefully, he moved the branches out of his way as he took a decisive step forward. As he kept on advancing, the Totem Leader tried to be careful with where he was stepping and where he was heading, making sure not to arm the nature around him whilst trying to be quiet.[break][break]

It didn't take long for him to arrive at a clearing covered with multiple flowers. The giant stared at the fields, analyzing their content. In the middle of the flowers, a Mienfoo stood, admiring the location. It seemed like the pokemon loved this location, as it was focusing entirely on the nature that surrounded him.[break][break]

An interesting target. Mienfoos were known to evolve into Mienshao, who were quite strong fighters. Passing on this opportunity would be a shame. Balder pulled one of the safari pokeballs he was given at the start of the adventure, and grabbed a rock on the ground as well. The man threw it as hard as possible having it land at the opposite side of where he has, distracting the fox fighter. As soon as the Mienfoo looked in the rock's direction, Balder threw the pokeball, hoping to catch it.

A point blank leaf storm. AKA how to make sure that the opponent can't dodge the attack. To finish someone, it was definitely the best way to proceed. A tornado of leaf surrounded the mole, stopping him dead in his tracks. Yet, just before the attack struck him, it seemed like a smile had drew itself on his face. With a soft whisper, he let out a simple sound escape from his lips, as if complimenting the team and saying "Nicely done", in a pokemon's language.[break][break]

As the storm subsided, the Excadrill fell to the ground, utterly defeated. As the battle ended, the young lady who had brought the pad and earbud to Mateo appeared once more, followed by two of her friends. As the other ladies took care of the pokemons that were defeated, the main lady beckoned to the trainer. At the same time, a voice surged from the earbud.[break][break]

"Nicely done Mateo. I've rarely seen Simon get overwhelmed so much. Plus, the teamwork that your pokemon has shown was exquisite. I'm eager to see what you'll be doing next. Now, please follow Katrina to the next location. I'll explain your next trial there." If the challenger agreed to this, he should then follow the lady, who guides him into the castle.[break][break]

As they enter the castle and dive deeper inside it, the duo and the challenger's pokemon would end up in front of 4 doors, depicting the 4 guardians of Alola: Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Fini and Tapu Bulu. At this moment, Balder's voice flared up once more. "Now then. To reach the second challenge, you need to choose one of the 4 doors. Since I know you like having some challenge, I prepared something special behind the door of Tapu Bulu. Yet, that is up to you. If you want to face a hard challenge, choose it. But if you wish to live the regular experience, then I suggest picking one of the other 3 doors." What will you do, challenger?

Stormy was still focusing on the present... Seeing what's right in front of you is good and all, but how can you know which path you want to take if you got no idea what you want/seek in the future? Wanting to protect Hoenn and its people is a fine ideal for now, but it's not something that will lead her further.[break][break]

Still, it was pointless to discuss more about it. Maybe through this battle, she would be able to see a path to take? Balder and Geo moved into the rocky field as Wadjet began to fly around. Already planning to abuse of her aerial prowess huh? Balder watched her fly around, slowly analysing her flight pattern. Maybe there was something repetitive to her movement that would make her easy to read?[break][break]

His analysis was cut short by the fire gym leader suddenly calling him "old man". Did he really look that old? Was he getting white hair already? At 27 years old? "Come on, I'm just 27. Do I really look that old to you? I'd prefer a different nickname honestly. Hell, even Daddy would be more appropriate age-wise..." Balder sighed. He then looked at Geo, who had his eyes fixed on the dragon in the sky. It seems like the rock creature really wanted it down.[break][break]

"Well, I think it's time we began. Geo, set up the field." Silently, the Alolan Golem nodded before shooting rocks into the sky with the move Stealth Rock. While they wouldn't be switching pokemons, the rocks were meant to be hindering the Charizard's advance and maneuvers in the air. Dodge the wrong way? Get hit by a floating rock. This would also stop the creature from using its full speed.[break]

Olivia assimilated his suggestion rather quickly, starting to whistle to give a rythm to her pokemons. This tactic seemed to have been effective, as the Oricorio responded in kind, using one of his move to match the beat of the song. What was odd, however, was the Pelipper. The bird shouldn't normally be this reactive to sound, but it seemed more like it was following along the Oricorio to try and have more fun. [break][break]

Before Balder could void his opinion, another pokemon appeared. A Stunkfisk. Its typing was a disadvantage to Ash, a fire pokemon. And knowing his Cyndaquil, she would go and be reckless to try and overwhelm the pokemon, even if she was weak to it. Bad idea. Before the pokemon could rush to battle, Balder called it back and stored it upon his belt. Instead, he brought out one of his new pokemons: Caliburn, the Honedge.[break][break]

The creature wrapped it's cloth around the arm of his owner, letting the hild rest in the hand of Balder. A symbol of trust surely, as the man seemed unfazed from this maneuver. "Ace." As he whispered this single word, the edge of the sword began to shine a light blue hue. With a quick jump forward, Balder brought down the sword against the Stunkfisk before it could unleash any moves. He then proceeded to capture it with an empty pokeball before returning towards Olivia.[break][break]

"You caught on quickly. While your Pelipper seems to only be tagging along for the fun ride, it looked like the Oricorio was enjoying it. Of course, singing or tagging along with the dance might actually make it happier, and lead you to a better understanding of each other. That way, you'll be able to fight side by side." Caliburn unwrapped itself from around Balder's arm and began to float beside his trainer, awaiting further orders.[break][break]

Not long after entering the zone did he end up face to face with a young Buneary. The little bunny seemed lost, and to have been born not too long ago. Could it be looking for his mother? If memory served right, this creature normally evolves into a Lopunny, and it would make sense that the evolved form would be the parents in this present case.[break][break]

Still, as the trainer grew closer to the rabbit, to see what was going on exactly, the Buneary spotted him. Ears standing straight on his head, the pokemon stayed still for a small moment before escaping into the wilderness and vanishing from sight almost instantly. Of course, this was a natural reaction in front of something he never knew about.[break][break]

And Balder had no intention to chase it. He didn't want to capture it, even though he lacks a bunny for his totem gym. Removing this little baby from his family right now seemed a bit too horrible. Yet, he wanted to make sure the little one would reach his family correctly. Balder opened one of his pokeballs, sending Falco, his Braviary, out in the wild.[break][break]

"Falco, I want you to go search for that Buneary, make sure it reaches its family. But don't approach him or hurt him, unless he's in danger." The bird nodded before taking flight, soaring over the trees and searching for the bunny. His mind set at ease, Balder resumed his walk into the Safari Zone, wondering what he'll encounter next.

Reports of a large bear monster destroying the forest were coming in hot, being declared on many different networks. Of course, this reached the hears of many people, including a few gym leaders. 3 of them to be exact. While this was a massive coincidence that those 3 gathered together, Balder was still glad to have Stormy backing him up in this battle. Sadly, he didn't know much about the third gym leader. He also knew a bit about Callista, as she wished to challenge his gym, out of what he remembered.[break][break]

But now he knew a bit about him. Thomas was the bossy kind. He had decided by himself to take upon the role of leader. Balder sighed as he heard the man give his orders. Even if the creature had none of these abilities that the gym leader mentioned, nothing proved that ailments would work against it. It's possible that the overgrown Ursaring was a lot different then the regular specie and held so many surprises that regular tactics would fail. They needed to act outside of the box.[break][break]

"Would be nice if we discussed the leader thingy before we got here. To begin with, this Ursaring might be different from the others. It's possible he has an unknown ability or will act in ways we do not expect his normal kind to do. So I'd suggest staying vigilant, observe his moves and adapt accordingly. Stormy, Miss Lovell, please remain behind us. We'll cover you both."[break][break]

As he said those words, Balder released his Chesnaught from the pokeball. Nuts went to place itself beside the Scizors, looking at it and nodding. Time to set up the field. "Nuts, send your seeds in the bear's path. We'll suck his energy to help us win this fight." Without any noise, the creature raised his arms, sending seeds flying from his forearms to cover the soil in the giant Ursaring's path. The seeds blossomed almost instantly, waiting for the enemy to arrive in their midst to begin their work.[break]
