angelo's remark earns him a breathe from the nose in a way to almost make a chuckle. "heh. funny." the flat tone makes his statement sound insincere.

"i've a lot of experience on things, so i suppose you can call me the latter. just shoot."

his time in rocket exposed him to work that got him familiar in multiple fields of his trade. most of the time, his work is just a hodgepodge of accumulated knowledge that it doesn't even look professional.

the edge of his lip raises slightly to a smirk.

"if you're thinking of aeronautics, i have some as well."

it's not like wolfgang didn't appreciate proper introductions to small talks. it was just that he doesn't know any besides rushing it to the important parts of the conversation. fortunately, it fits the event.

he sits down, taking a cookie and handing it to the typhlosion behind him. it should keep him quiet for a while.

"wolfgang volkov. mechanical engineer at littleroot. you?"

an eyebrow is raised as he waits for a response.

"contests, huh?"

he watches them some time before, though the recent ones never got him tempted to leave the comfort of his home. a major contest held on littleroot a year or so before turning out to be a fiesta was just one of the reasons he never bothered anymore.

their time ends. the meeting is short, much like every other speed date, and it what constitutes wolfgang's favorite kind of interaction: abrupt and brief.

"anyways, that's time. see ya."

he takes off right afterwards.

a boring and dull way to describe it, but it's straight to the point and easy to understand. not that there's anything exciting that he can say, nor will elaborating about it impact anything.

he then turns the question back to adrian.

"how about you? what kinda music do you do?"

unsurprisingly enough, wolfgang listens to old people music. anything that was released in the past decade or so was out of his radar, besides those that got too popular for children to sing them in the streets.

it's clear that they're not going to be benefitting from each other for this round. nothing wrong with how their interests do not cross for this matchmaking. it happens.

it was already sad that he was downgraded to a mere mechanic in the small town of littleroot. while he doesn't complain about it, more work was always welcome.

eyes try to study his partner's features to joggle his memory in case he was wrong. fortunately, he doesn't have to back away from his word since nothing comes to mind.

then again, he's been stuck in his hole on littleroot for the longest time to meet anyone new.

"name's wolfgang volkov. pleasure to meet you." the greeting was as choreographed as every other introduction. "so, what are you here for?"

"i'm expecting a call tonight, then," he teases back.

he smiles then waves goodbye as matias leaves the table.

his hand slams at the table as soon as he's out of the picture. matias has him beat with that one. wolfgang's offense might be good, but he has to work on his defense on these kinds of things.

he should wait for the others to strike first and do the same for the next round, he tells himself, but if it's going to be another Pace Mahmoud , he's not sure if he can actually pull it off.

he doesn't even know if people who have criminal records, and more importantly, on parole, can get in. he's not going to ask though, cause that was just going to open a new avenue for that topic.

"no thanks. i'm not built for that." a lie, considering involvement with johto's invasion. "wanna take up my offer though?"

wolfgang takes out a business card with his name and business number and email address on it= different from the one he uses personally.

"just in case you guys need an engineer on the job. well, you probably already do, but just in case."

he winks afterwards with a stern face. it looked unsettling for a moment despite doing it for jest.

"don't mind you using it for other, more personal, reasons too."

it was honestly mostly for the romance side of things, but pride forces him to hide the more softer side of things pertaining to him. that, and he wants to appear responsible.

"didn't know you cared about the silph business. or is it a different one?"

does he actually know things about matias outside of public knowledge? no. it's just how boys do boy things- never asking about personal things about each other, as well as not talk about their feelings.

raising a brow at the sight of this round's partner, wolfgang would have to admit being surprised at who he was paired with. still, he acts cool in response to the question.

"it's fate, or some kinda bullshit like that," he replies.

he takes his seat as well, opposite of matias. the typhlosion is nudged slightly to the side when it tries to block the way of its trainer.

"ya here for business or pleasure? can't honestly see either of those from you."
