"Hey there." They haven't met before, so far as he can remember. He eases himself into the chair across from them, fidgeting with the Klefki hanging from his wrist.

"I don't think we've met before. The name's Adrian Malcolm; what about you?"

Glancing over towards the stranger, Adrian took a moment to familiarize himself with the aura of a stranger, in case they ever crossed paths in the future.

eyes try to study his partner's features to joggle his memory in case he was wrong. fortunately, he doesn't have to back away from his word since nothing comes to mind.

then again, he's been stuck in his hole on littleroot for the longest time to meet anyone new.

"name's wolfgang volkov. pleasure to meet you." the greeting was as choreographed as every other introduction. "so, what are you here for?"

Maybe his answer was a disappointment; Adrian contemplates what else he might hope to achieve here. Perhaps if he ran into a Gym Leader, he'd ask about any upcoming availabilities. He hadn't been able to secure one in months; Adrian hated waiting in a queue...

it's clear that they're not going to be benefitting from each other for this round. nothing wrong with how their interests do not cross for this matchmaking. it happens.

"trying to get my name as an engineer out there."

it was already sad that he was downgraded to a mere mechanic in the small town of littleroot. while he doesn't complain about it, more work was always welcome.

"It happens." He already had a few in his pocket, so there was no harm in spending the next few pairings casually conversing with those present. It's interesting to hear about their lives, hobbies or careers, if nothing else.

"What kind of engineer?"

It's not the sort of thing he hears often, and so it intrigues him as to which aspect of it Volkov has been educated for, and what they practical applications are for such a skill.

a boring and dull way to describe it, but it's straight to the point and easy to understand. not that there's anything exciting that he can say, nor will elaborating about it impact anything.

he then turns the question back to adrian.

"how about you? what kinda music do you do?"

unsurprisingly enough, wolfgang listens to old people music. anything that was released in the past decade or so was out of his radar, besides those that got too popular for children to sing them in the streets.

"Huh, alright." Could've been a lot of things, but a mechanical engineer was likely the most practical one to be. Maybe even the most exciting, not that they seem keen on elucidating on that particular field for him.

"Well mostly I prefer forms of rock, but I dabble in the indie stuff, too." Old school, classic rock and roll wasn't exactly his thing, but he could respect the times for their style and tastes. And then there was the fact modern music was more electronic than he liked personally, but it appealed to a wider audience.

"Sometimes it all comes down to what's paying, sadly. That's why I've been announcing for contests lately."

"contests, huh?"

he watches them some time before, though the recent ones never got him tempted to leave the comfort of his home. a major contest held on littleroot a year or so before turning out to be a fiesta was just one of the reasons he never bothered anymore.

their time ends. the meeting is short, much like every other speed date, and it what constitutes wolfgang's favorite kind of interaction: abrupt and brief.

"anyways, that's time. see ya."

he takes off right afterwards.
