Adding to the pack [SW]

A nice day off meant for a great chance to get outside and get some training and exercise in. She could also go Pokémon hunting which is what she was doing today.

Adding some more firepower to her team was needed but there was still the concern of the upkeep.

She wasn’t exactly in the position financially to be taking care of an army of large monsters.

Their attack had missed in spectacular fashion. The cloud of feathers made it impossible for June to predict what and where the next move would be coming from which is why on a count of that she warned the canine to prepare for the worse.

The Unfezant had dove down avoiding the attack and leaving the Boltund open as the canine arcs through the air. The flying type’s attack made its mark, knocking the Boltund out of his trajectory and making for a rather abrupt landing.

June’s Boltund managed to land on his feet, though a bit shaky in keeping his stance, the Pokémon was still able to fight.

”Don’t let up! This time use Nuzzle!” The momentarily dazed Boltund took his head to regain composure before listening to his master’s commands, charging forward at the Unfezant yet again.

However this time the electricity dancing around the canine’s body was much less chaotic or threatening. The canine lunged for where the Unfezant had made its attack.

She honestly didn’t expect him to get bent out of shape because of her appetizer comment. Maybe he took more pride into his strength as a trainer than she was thinking? Well if he is in fact the bodyguard to one of the elite four you had to be strong yourself right?

No point in having a bodyguard who was way weaker than you. Well she was about see as the bodyguard led her to a more open area for them to get this battle started. She wasn’t sure what to expect from him but an Unfezant was definitely not something she would’ve guessed.

But now the question was who to use against the flying type. Her decision was made for her when her Boltund stepped forward, eager to battle. The mutt might be a bit of a blockhead but when it came to battling it was a natural.

”Well how sweet of you, Mr. Main Course. I hope you don’t end up regretting this decision!” June replied. Before getting started she did a few little hops in place to get the blood flowing and to pump herself up.

”Alright Touma let’s start things going full throttle, use Wild Charge!” With the order given the canine takes off. As the Boltund increased in speed his body became shrouded in an aggressive aura of electricity.

The Boltund also wasn’t running or jumping straight toward the Unfezant but instead past both trainers and for the fences near the lawn.

The canine then quickly climbed up the fence and used it as a springboard to lunge himself straight towards the Unfezant in the air like a speeding electric missile.

Being an exterminator wasn’t what June signed up for so she wasn’t exactly eager to get the job going but when she showed up to the place that was infested her opinion on the job changed.

The building was much more infested than she was led to believe and the urgency in which the bugs had to be removed gave the young woman more leeway to cut loose which was great.

June had rushed in, not even waiting for whoever she was working with to show before starting to root out the bugs. The sounds of fighting could be heard ringing through the building, all June’s work.

She was in the middle of clearing out a room, blasting a bug out of the room and into the hallway. The door would fly open as the bug Pokémon crashed through it, followed shortly by June and her Duraladon.

”Oh?” She had forgotten she wasn’t the only person on this job so the sight of someone else was confusing at first. What was even more so of a surprise was the fact that she recognized the face.

”Oh hey you’re that ranger! Charli, right?” June would approach the other woman with a smile and a wave.

”Funny meeting you here! The place really is as bad as it looks! Brick and I have been trying to clear it out the best we can but they just seem to keep coming!” She laughed, the girl was much too excited.

And it would be just her luck that as soon as she was about to eat her phone went off, its buzzing being more annoying now than it ever has before.

She cursed under her breath, put down her snack, and picked up her phone. Talking on the phone had her distracted enough to not notice the Growlithe that ran by and snatched her food before it was too late.

”Aw hell no!” June chased after the mutt; there was no way it was going to get off scot-free. But the little bastard was too fast for June to keep up, didn’t help that it knew the layout of the route better as well.

Tired of chasing after it the young woman called out her Duraladon, ordering the dragon to fire off a Hyper Beam at the pup. Overkill? Yes it was but did it work? Damn right it did, that sucker was done and out.

But that also meant that her food was definitely destroyed in the process. Oh well, this helped her let out some frustration so all in all it was worth it. And she might as well capture the Growlithe while she was at it.

June shook her head, though she did take notice that the woman next to her was, in fact, a ranger herself. The rest of their walk could have been peaceful but they’d eventually come across two wild Pokémon duking it out.

However the two women would have come across the end of the battle as one Pokémon went down leaving the other, a Sirfetch’d, the winner. The Pokémon then spotted the two passerbys and jumped in their path. It looked worn out but still, it pointed its leak sword at the two, challenge them to battle.

That was probably the intent of the Pokémon but it then fell over on its back, knocked out. June would look over to Charli and shrug, what were they supposed to do with it now? She’d then pull out an empty capsule and toss it at the Sirfetch’d, might as well catch it.

”I wish all my captures were like this.”

Another day another boring ass job that her delivering some crap from one place to another. She hadn’t exactly planned on coming all the way to Hoenn do this sort of shit but she needed the money so here she was.

June had just wrapped the job and on her way back decided to stop to take a break. Maybe a snack would be a good pick-me-up for a rather shitty day.

Littering was a serious problem around these parts huh? June was sort of surprised. She’d expect that sort of behavior from people in Galar and Unova but here?

Guess you really shouldn’t judge a book by its cover then eh? ”You put it a lot nicer than I would have.” June pointed out, shaking her head at the thought of the littering.

”Honestly they’re just going to keep doing it no matter how many times you tell them. Unless you really crack down on them they’re not going to change.” At least that’s what June thought anyway.

Even if it screws everything up for everyone else people will do whatever because they don’t care. At least it seemed that some Pokémon were peaceful as the next few they’d come across left them be.

June didn’t expect to see such variety of Pokémon in Hoenn but she did know that over time they had been introducing more and more species. ”Rangers need to do a better job before all these mon’s start trying to really off someone.”

The other Pokémon they ran into before were easy enough to deal with but this one…well this one would definitely be a problem. It was a Volcarona and as long as they didn’t get in its way and walked away slowly they should be good.

Well that was along as her dumb mutt didn’t decide to attack the giant bug. But seeing his trainer back away the dog got the message and backed up as well and once they were a good distance away from the bug June calmed down.

”Alright let’s go home. I’m not trying to get killed by a bug.”

”Yeah that’d probably be for the best.” June agreed with Charli’s suggestion, putting Jet into the basket of her bike to let the little fire type take a nice rest. Pulling her bike along, June kept a cautious eye out for any Pokémon that might try and cause trouble.

While she was always up for a good scrap she just wanted to get back home at this point. ”So you were saying that the Pokémon around here aren’t normally that aggressive, huh?” She’d ask Charli, not sure if she take the woman’s words to heart given what was happening.

But if she was a native who’s lived here for a long time she’d have a better understanding of it than June would so she’d have to trust her.

The next Pokémon they’d come across didn’t come after them like they were mad which was great. Despite their rather calm disposition June didn’t want to take her eyes off of them while they passed by.

”Maybe it’s something in the water.”
