Bishop's reaction was about what Oscar had expected. The beast shrugged and chuckled somehow more nervously than before, "Would you believe that it used to be a chansey? Science is wacky amirite?" The creature roared with agony, and as Bishop brought a out a pokemon Oscar would reach into his coat to do the same. Genesect would emerge from a completely red ball, initially primed for battle before settling into a neutral pose 'cause---what the fuck was that? What was Genesect supposed to do about it? 

Oscar looked to Bishop, "You're a tough mother fucker Bishop, and you've fought in a distortion before! You're the best shot I have at closing this shit! In theory, all we would need to do is kill the source!" The abomination screeched, sending bolts of electricity across the lab. One bolt landed near the duo, and Oscar would raise his arm to protect himself from debris. "Uh--let's just try not to die. It would be embarrassing. Genesect, Techno Blast!"

Genesect's cannon roared as it unleashed a dazzling beam of energy. As the beam collided with its body, the creature would writhe and send even more bolts of electricity in every direction.

Oscar nearly fell backward as Xerneas emerged from the tree. Had it been in there the whole time? Hopefully it was not bothered when Oscar played some work music earlier. Though surely the legendary life pokemon had to enjoy rock and roll, the most invigorating of music genres! Oscar recovered quickly, wiping his hands off with a nearby towel. Everything was in place, now all they needed to do was turn it on...

Oscar strolled casually over to the control panel, set up with a thick layer of fiberglass to protect from--accidents. Donning a set of tinted goggles, Oscar would clap his hands loudly and shout to his companions. "Let's light 'er up! If you wanna get behind cover now's the time!" Should they choose Oscar's control panel as their point of safety, goggles would be provided to help emulate that mad science vibe Oscar craved. I mean--protect their eyes.

Once everyone was in position, Oscar chuckled deviously and began the startup process. The generator slowly roared to life, starting off loud but stationary as it tried to breakdown the Blue Mulch. Just as it did for countless Mega Stones, the generator would extract the mulch's infinity energy and begin running it through its tubular power grid. A bright blue light would emit from the generator, a stark change to its usual orange glow. Oscar cackled, the generator was locked and loaded. He grabbed a bright red lever in the center of his panel, and after a dramatic pause he would pull it to unleash the gathered energy into the sync stones. 

To say it was a light show would be an immense understatement, the pure Infinity Energy surging through the Crystal Bloom Hearts sent colors of every variety cascading across the walls. Now came the moment of truth, as the energy was transferred directly into the tree. Oscar's manic laughter echoed over the sound of surging electricity, he seemed to be rather enjoying himself. 

"I love my fuckin' job!"

Oscar chuckled, "Get this, it's a fuckin' eldritch horror created by Bill Anderson. Caught it when I volunteered to help rebuild his church of Arceus. I should have left it alone but it seemed like good PR at the time. Anyway, it's all up in my organs and efforts to remove it have proved--nearly fatal."

Oscar briefly tightened his folded arms. Beneath his shirt were the scars from such efforts, and he felt nauseated just thinking about them.

Oscar tilted his head, an eyebrow raised as if the answer should be obvious. "Once I'm sure I can't save myself. As long as I continue treatment I should stave off death just long enough to find a cure. Maybe. I don't see a reason to step down before all hope is lost."

Oscar leaned in, "Unless you have something to offer in exchange."

Now today was a day of triumph! Oscar could hardly believe it, the amazing efforts of Lulu Flint were actually going to bring Rocket to space! They were legit extending their reach to the stars above, fuck Oscar had goosebumps during the countdown. Yet he was not here just for Rocket, no he had his own desires for Meteno's bounty. The hidden resources of space were invaluable, and as he sought a more permanent departure from this world he would need all of space-rock he could stow away. Not just for profit, but for SCIENECE! 

To think though, Oscar almost missed the launch. He had spent the night before debriefing with declan walsh , and while time was of the essence they did not rush their exchange of data. Oscar would not regret this final meeting, as what was learned would put a spring in his step even as it came down to the wire. He obviously did not miss the launch, otherwise he would be somewhere else and not hurtling toward the atmosphere faster than the speed of light!

Yet even with their head start, the League would be hot on their trail. Sure they were behind, but there was no doubt that both factions would eventually reach their destined battleground! All they could do now was cull their numbers a bit. Oscar's distorted voice emanated from his helmet as he spoke into a one-way com. "Genesect, it's time for target practice." 

Latched onto the vessel Oscar had boarded by its claws was Genesect, the wind whipping across its black body. Using its imbedded claws as leverage, Genesect twisted around so that its cannon now aimed at the League coming up behind them. A great deal of them were about to regret not getting into a ship. Before they departed, Oscar had given Genesect two upgrades. The first was a Drive that turned its Techno Blast into a Steel type move. The other, was a fuckin' wireless speaker with 400 assorted songs downloaded!

Genesect's body began to vibrate, Oscar having pressed a button on his phone from within the ship. A classic rock song rang from Genesect's exoskeleton--just in time for it to greet the League. Genesect's cannon briefly charged before unleashing its signature Techno Blast in a sweeping motion across the League's forces. Having added additional force to the blast (Steel Worker, the attack was sure to get their enemies' blood pumping at the very least.
