“The league branch I’m in charge of is here, sir. I was taking a break from my dealings and decided to get a breath of fresh air.”

And maybe a bite to eat while he was at, but considering this man was kind enough to offer him half a sandwich, his hunger could be staved off for at least a little while longer.

“What’s your name?”

He asks bluntly, a hand moving to take the sandwich.

“And what's in the sandwich.”

He says eyeing his half.

“ursa ursa ursa, teddiursa, ursa… URSA! ursateddiursa teddiursaur-”

Kim is walking through the park with his Teddiursa, the pokemon sparing no dramatics as it explains itself away to an ever nodding Kim, the man, even after having spent the majority of his adult life with the pokemon, still barely understanding it. But he knows enough to nod and listen to when it speaks, even if he can’t piece every word together.

But in the middle of the Teddiursa’s ramblings, the two are stopped, a sandwich offered from some random that sat on the grass adjacent to their path.

Kim is about to deny and continue on his way until the Teddiursa does the honors, grabbing the sandwich and chewing it in the man's face before continuing on his way.

Usually Kim would say this is enough to warrant him being on his way but considering Kim was in no hurry to get back to work, he decided to stay, moving to take a seat beside the man.

“Got another?”

There's not a single hint of modesty in his voice, Kim flagrant in his own self appraisal.

“But yes, it is rare that anyone would want to step into this seat, Ferny seems more than happy now that he left his shoes at the door for good and I can’t blame him. Hoenn’s a shit show and we’re the unfortunate ringleaders, scrambling for some sort of order during the chaotic acts.”

Once their drinks arrive, Kim is quick to eye the Gin, looking the glass up and down before raising it for the toast.

“A toast to the eventual wasted two weeks of your life.”

Kim playfully prod’s, ballparking how long she’ll last in her seat as a councilman.

“That macaroni sounds sexy.” He says just under his breath but loud enough for others to hear.

“Maybe if it’s available as an appetizer I’ll indulge, but this big meat game sounds hot. Maybe Miltank Filet or a Striaton City Strip would be a good call.”

A simple glance at the menu is enough for him to get a feel for it, the councilman flipping it closed as his hands sit on top of one another upon the table.

“The pleasures are all mine, Miss Gina. It’s not too often the three of us could get together in such a casual setting so I have to thank you for providing a reason for this unity.”

While Fernando was no longer a councilman, Kim could not deny the comradery he still shared with the man that shone brighter when Orion was added into the equation.

Kim is the last to arrive, waltzing into the restaurant casually late and dressed in the finest formal wear, a dress shirt with a sweater on top. Kim strides through the guest each seated at their own tables before finally arriving to his own.

But before he takes his seat, he poses, nonchalantly looking away as he shows off his threads to those sitting at the table. It would be a solid minute before he finally takes his seat, smoothing out his dress pants as he leans back in his chair.

“Waddup hoes?” He says in a lax tone, a smile easy sat on his lips.

His drink of choice is a simple Lum Gin, ordered as soon as he could. Hopefully there wouldn’t be need for more than a couple cups.

“Nice to meet you Gina.” He slices in before looking to Fernando. “What do you suggest on ordering, Fern? I’m thinking something light but I could totally eat a fat slab of meat.”

If it came to be too much for him to eat in one sitting, leftovers would always be considered for the fam back home.

His eyes close, his mind and body falling into relaxation in mere seconds, puffs of smoke leaving his mouth as he speaks gently.

“...Moments of calm where I can relax. Moment of peace where nothing matters but what’s happening in this room. Moments of placidly where I can speak with another that I trust; with someone that I consider one of my best friends- one I don’t have to bite my tongue around. His free hand idly rolls the blunt between index and thumb, Kim contemplating Stormy’s words for a moment before speaking.

“...I think this is the happiest I’ve ever been.”

“Don’t get me wrong, spending time with you, or Kay, or Franny when we facetime is always enjoyable. I’m always happier than all hell to be chillin out maxin relaxin all cool with my girls, but y’all have your own things goin on. As selfish as I am I don’t have the nerve to tell you guys to give me the attention I want from you.”

“But Najwa is my indulgence. She goes along with what I want to do, she’s always there when I need someone to talk to, and she loves me, faults and all. She gives me purpose. And when I need it a smack to the back of the head to keep me grounded.”

Features once noticeably rough grew softer, Kim bringing the joint to his lips and taking a small puff from it.

“She is bliss.”

Answering his childishness with a childishness of her own, Kim could not help but applaud internally, giving her the satisfaction of putting him in his place was a little too much credit for a man who’s ego was so front and center.

“Hahaha.” He mocks somewhat dryly, the sarcasm in his voice easily betrayed by the smile his lips held.

“Maybe masochist is the wrong word. You’re more of a sub honestly.”

He takes a deep inhale of the blunt, letting the smoke ruminate before he huffs it from his nose, the fumes filtering into the air.

“Truth be told I’m a sub at heart too. Don't get me wrong, it feels nice to be the one in charge, but after so long it gets tired. That’s why I love Na, she straight up puts me in my place.”

In more ways than contextually.

“Bailey Cooper, kyle lopez, Thomas Benoit, Stormy Silph. All people I’m well enough acquainted with to properly endorse their claim as elites. They’ve not only proven themselves capable of handling challenges, but also capable of handling the stress said challenges bring. I know that when the time comes, and if need be, these people will be the ones that do what needs to be done thanks to the countless times they have proven this.”

There is no bias in his words, simply truth. Kim holds not a single one of them more important than the other, despite the title Bailey Cooper held.

“To ask for an endorsement from someone you barely know is a milestone in rashness, don’t you think?”

A smirk sets on his lips, eyeing Maverick from the side.

“That being said, I will consider your claim if you prove you can back it up.”

He taps a pokeball to his side.

“A 1-on-1. Your choice vs my Teddiursa. If you win in three turns then I’ll endorse you, if not, well…”

Kim shrugs with an impish smile, a hand moving to rest on his hip as the other fell to his side.

“What do you say?”

His demeanor is cool and collected, each word spoken with an ease that accompanied.

“That being said, as a gym leader you have a little more pull depending on the steps you take to further your career.”

“If by any means you aim for a higher title or one with more importance than the one you currently hold, you are more likely to be picked depending on the work you put in during your time as a gym leader. ”

Show you are capable and others will respond positively, such was a key component to Kim being in the seat he currently resided.

“But if you aim to remain a gym leader on top of a governing body- of your respective city or otherwise- please don’t be shy to throw your hat into the ring.”

Maverick seemed the type to be able to handle the workload that would come with such a decision.

Once the meeting had concluded, Kim remained seated, swiping a few berries and popping them into his mouth, enjoying the sweetness as he listened to Dahlia speaking of confidentiality- the death of Bailey reported soon after.

The sweetness he relished in was quickly replaced with the bitterness she had spoken, his palate tainted in that instance.

“Unfortunate.”

He states passively, mind racking with speculation.

If this was another source of propaganda for the advertisement of the aqua initiative it would be shown just as the previous installment of Senri Harada had been, to everyone present in the room at the time.

Kim could only take the revelation as fact, but would remain skeptic in any case, brows quirk in indifference; arms crossed over his chest as he leaned back in his chair in anticipation for Dahlia’s further explanation.

“Why tell us this after the room’s been sifted?”
