He'd heard the phrase "It's lonely at the top."

It was eerie how accurate that phrasing felt to the vigilante as he took the exalting ride to the zenith of Hoenn.

It would have been nice to take this ride as Sénon with his allies rather than Crimsen and his alienation.

To clear his mind he'd gone for an early duck-off into an escape pod. A quiet small space to close his eyes, breathe deep and focus his mind.

The old masters back in Saffron used to hit him in the head with a pokéball for having a mind as impulsive and primal as a pokémon. He was a rash child and just couldn't quiet his mind enough to effectively sit in meditation.

Yet with experience from time and the gravity of those experiences even he learned how to quiet his thoughts to hear something deeper within.

Case in point, the commotion of LvTR taking their first shots at one another (and the response shots that followed) were lost on the vigilante. He even missed the damage to his pod, let alone it even being jettisoned from the ship.

By the time he came back to the moment, he was alone, Hoenn was a backdrop, and the sky was on fire.

Whoever else he'd been on this pod with was gone, the busted open door said as much.

With quick footing he found the placement he needed to tumble out of the pods opening and into the open skies of the space above.

Free-falling, the winds whipped past his frame mildly locking him in place as his hands decided on whom to call from his belt.

With all the battle commotion and raining debris he opted for precision over power and in that, he called his pokémon and pushed his thoughts unto her.

Honestly, what was a couple of broken colarbones when weighed against the greater good?

"HYYGHHHHH." He felt the third colarbone segement and fracture under the weight of his falling hand.

Either his training was yielding more heightened results than he anticipated or these poachers (or kidnappers or whatever) were made of paper.

The latter excuse made more sense in terms of why someone would kidnap an actual kid.

A drunken hiccup escaped his throat and the vigilante remembered he wasn't quite in full control of himself.

Best to employ a little mercy.

As with all the other fallen degenerates he offered their pokemon a way out, this guy had a Croconaw guarding him as he flailed on the ground in pain.

"Take your master and run." Before them he pulled out three more pokeballs ignoring the flames bursting about.

Even a cold-blooded croc understood when it was outgunned, at the first chance, it would FLEE; its trainer in-tow.

"gwhuhhhhh." He crossed his arms in the wake of the input from his larger partner.

"I..." His hands now devoid of any pokeballs. "really wished you'd said that like...?" It took him about ten seconds to articulate any further.

Flames ignited in the ranging distances as avian tweets filled the air. The screams of men and children alike weren't long to follow.

"Better plan; you go after the kid screams." His voice dropped too many octaves to be in the throat of a well adjusted man. "I'll get the adults."

^{With the recent stir of events overtaking the region, there has been more than one reported instance of chaos erupting throughout the region. Whether it be a protest gone wrong, an attack by rocket, or a resurgence of high tensions between sympathizers and league loyalists -- help locate the lost children and Pokémon who were somehow separated from their families during the thick of it.}

It wasn't.

"Are you a cop?" There was a reason his helmet was able to do some small amount of facial articulation of the eyes and mouth. It was a ditto, his helmet was a pokemon.

In the moment its articulation was that of suspicion, or at least, an almost accusatory curiosity. Crimsen wasn't opposed to working with officers but, as someone who took the law into his own hands he was well aware of most officers must have thought of him.

This guy's instinct to plan something out sounded like an officers way of doing things, Crimsen had a more organic methodology which was probably why he'd found the Ranger's role to be so natural.

As a vigilante, one day he would go to far in someone's opinion and the officers would teaming up to take him down. But the big guy seemed just happy to have some backup which meant, for now at least, there were still worst people in Hoenn than himself.

"You probably already answered that." Reaching around into a specific pants pocket a handful of mini-pokeballs filled his hands. "Don't mind me. I'm still pretty sauced over here."

With all the spare time he had now it was more than long since past time comb the wilds for for some new teammates.

Mt. Pyre was as good a place as any to search for psychics.

The ghost types in the area being a bit more active didn't bother him a lick.

So long as nothing LICK'd him every thing would be copacetic.

Alternatively, a pokemon he'd definitely eat if trapped on survival island, a Blaziken walked the tall grass.

Back on Mt. Chimney he might have questioned if it was wild but here there was no need to.

It walked with its back straight as its trainer was just behind it.

Crossing his arms the vigilante articulated his intention.

"We make a healing array." With the naming of each. "Heal Pulse, Life Dew, Wish." There were others but Young would get the point. "We line up all the patients and walk them through the healing array and if need be, send them back around for another lap." The idea of walking your way back to good health in real time resonated as liberating.

Even now Kirio was checking the burns of a nearby Pansage.

"Add in an area for Aromatherapy for those waiting in line to walk the array."

Walking through the wards he compiled a list of pokemon moves that could cure what ailed a lot of them. Although in his experience pokemon moves for healing didn't work as well on humans as pokemon moves for damaging.

He couldn't do as much for injured men and women as he could for the actual injured pokemon.

Paced behind him, a Chansey looked about with a worrying expression wanting, needing to help but unable to until she was given proper orders and/or handed off her own patients.

"You wouldn't happen to have any ditto on you?"

Try as he might to stay out of it, Sénon Game had bonded to Hoenn. Its land, its people, its pokemon.

The homeland of his fiance and daughters every day another tendril pierced his body and bound him further to this place.

His paternal lineage was Kantonian, maternally his lineage was Alolan by race and Galarian by nationality. Sénon was a mutt with blood ties to three regions, yet Hoenn was where he (begrudgingly) considered home to be.

After the events of the Sootopolis Nightmare as he called it the healthcare for Pokémon was spread quite thin. As much as he could have thrown money at the problem he was no Silph and beyond he'd long since decided any of Sénon Game's large humanitarian efforts would be put to bed along side his tenure as Head Ranger.

It was selfish and it was petty and it was what his pride demanded of him.

Still, so that he could sleep at night (when he wasn't assaulting rocket contacts and associates in the streets), he was urged by his Ranger history to help in some way.

Thank the maker for secret identities.

He could help all he wanted without spending a single traceable pokédollar.

In his arrival the Ranger cadets began to buzz. Soon enough, someone with direction stepped forward.

-and wouldn't you know? It was someone he recognized.

With the tilting back of the red-shell sitting atop his shoulders, "Are you the one in charge here?" the vigilante offered his manpower.

The sound of his own backfired digestion, the splattering more than anything, caused him to only just barely miss the sounds of sands displaced by steps.

The voice speaking to him didn't sound familiar, nor did the accent sound real. He popped his helmet back on after a final ejection of phlegm and bile in his saliva.

Standing to face the other man he finally focused up enough to process what was being asked of him and beyond that, the conundrum of actually answering.

Was he? Was he the 'Notorious Anti-Rocket Vigilante' Crimsen?! Well fuck yeah he was.

But was he really going to admit it? He was frozen before the slightly larger man. The spinning wheel of vigilante philosophy was going so fast it set his considerations ablaze.

It was like a male Scolipede with ROLLOUT and SPEED BOOST bred with a Centiskorch and the hatchling was a Centiskorch with ROLLOUT and SPEED BOOST.

It ran ragged leaving flaming trails of philosophical conflict in its wake. It was fine for a vigilante to have an identity but admitting to one when not 'on-duty'.

Was he really so vainglorious?

Lazuli was her best when she was all sugar.

If he didn't have a legitimate beef, it he was merely trying to get a rise out of her; when she started swearing he settled down so that she'd keep her charm warm and welcoming.

As much as he appreciated the spice in her blood, when they were together, he was enough spice for the both of them.

If she was already calling him a dick then he was already pushing against her a bit too hard.

"Alright." He put up his hands in defeat. "I'll dial it back."

"Not sure how I feel about you living alone." For his intents and purposes it was better than her shacking up with someone. If nothing else it meant when he was pushing boundaries like he was now, he didn't have to worry about her new guy.

For however long that lasted.

If she was living in Hoenn now, he would probably be seeing a lot more of her in the days to come. Which meant the days were counting down until he took his helmet or something equally inappropriate and smashed someone in the face over her.

Wasn't young love grand?

Nope.

He popped off the helmet with the grace of when you almost miss the toilet.

Bile and chunks came barrelling out and for a brief moment, albeit doubled over and his head nearly between his knees the lavish red hair and faintly melanated skin of Senon Game was exposed from under the red-shelling that masked it.

Thank the maker the beach was clear.
