"I've been gone like three days, you all can't be this ragged already." His newfound dad voice cut through the settling commotion with the same weight it had before his untimely professional demise.

Maybe it had more than weight than it did before, because now it had to. Now, he didn't have the Commissioner nor the Council's backing.

That just meant he would have to get it done without the lot of them. "Shit is gonna get real out there."

Elinor Anderson didn't use not a drop of her influence to back him up during the third Assembly against Dahlia's tasteless inability to take what she dished out, but Ms. Anderson couldn't hide behind Laurs or her titles for what was coming.

After the night of the Darkest Day incident he remembered her distraught state after the death of her Salamence. Remembering his own fallen pokémon, she had no idea how much more of that she had coming.

Pokemon were going to die, people were going to die, places were going to die.

Luckily for Laurs the paperwork would be fine. And much like Laurs; "Cooler heads must prevail." As he spoke he frowned down at a baby, one that looked more like him than the last baby he'd been publicly seen with.

Her red locks were a perfect match with his own.

"People will be watching you defend them. Like regular citizens, some even with no pokemon of their own. if you lose that cool, they will too." Fighting extinction was hard enough, fighting extinction among the public chaos of an apocalypse; there was no coming back once society slipped into panic.

His gaze at Raziel Beckett was cut short before it became even slightly obvious the former Head Ranger had a bone to pick.

-and pick he would, when they had a moment alone; ex-Rocket to ex-Rocket.

He pointed to ollie morales the light in the room with his hand and arm that didn't have a baby in it.

"Morales and Vollans, Talia Celes , and Callan Young . They have the right idea. Remember their outlooks, remember their energy and keep it in mind when things start to go upside down." Don't fret, and get the job done.

That was the example he'd tried to lead by, but maybe someone who burned brighter (if not hotter) than himself was the best to lead along side Laurence Anderson now.

He looked over the faces of those who took the time to be here. ollie morales , Guillermo Marceliño , @ashe , annalise henderson , Elinor Anderson .

Even Laurence Anderson showed up.

""I'd like to thank you all for coming." He stated it plainly enough. It seemed he kept them waiting long enough that mincing words was asking for trouble, even for him.

"Thank Morales for the snacks everyone and listen up." He crossed his arms before giving the update. "I called you all here to inform you of the retirement and regional-departure of one of our own Ranger Captains; Zac Ramsay ."

The loss of Zac and Tapu Bulu was a big one for the their lot and they didn't have the luxury of time to provide a replacement.

Proactive measures had to be taken followed by a proactive strike.

"In the coming weeks Laurs and I will be sending recommendations and outright promotions to Rangers in varying ranks upto and including Captain."

They would need new blood to properly bolster the Captains' ranks. Recruiting was LANCE VOLLANS specialty but until his return to Hoenn they would have to make due.

"Furthermore I wanted to take this time to recognize the new Ranger-Liason Officer. paxton concordas I couldn't order him to be here this early but you'll see him at the ranger gatherings from time to time. Give him your warm welcomes." It was a made up title and a made up position, that he'd just made up, just now, officially at least.

In actuality, Paxton in their work together had proven professional and straight-forward and the Rangers would always need someone on the other side of the League coin to understand them.

Once again the destabilizing queasy tremors that brought him to his knees before came reeling back.

If the hangover was this bad he was prone to drink to just balance the deficient.

He'd thought it was pushing dusk this whole time, but really it was dawn.

He felt relieved when the other guy let him by, for a vigilante Crimsen was easy pickings right now to a skilled enough trainer.

When the big guy went inside Crimsen got back on his feet hoping to hell and back he could keep his stomach down so as not to be forced to remove his helmet to vomit.

Little did he know, what he and his sensitive stomach had wandered into.

It was a fast teleport from Sootopolis to Mauville.

From there he had to be reminded to her place was.

It was a faster teleport still from outside her house to inside without knocking.

Sénon Game would never be so rude and invasive but that was the whole point of having an alter-ego.

Lightly in step redheaded and redhelmed he made way to her kitchen.

Ultimately he had to push forward to maintain his balance.

It was like riding a bike.

As he neared however he found himself on the receiving end of a locked stare. Almost like he was back in Kanto.

The only problem was he wasn't a kid battling for stripes and collecting badges. He was an adult having a strange evolution in his profession.

He thought the guy he saw was Gwyar Wledig but it seemed it was someone else.

Whoever it was, Crimsen didn't want to battle.

"Just walking by." He even went as far as putting his hands up for a moment. He played it aloof and kept it cool.

So he got fired. Try making a son with Cait after that kick in the pokeballs.

Frankly after such a disrespectful dismissal from the Hoenn League he was thinking twice about propagating any more Hoennians.

Carefully, he stuck the plastic induction port into the slit in his mask hole, pulling the soda and alcohol mix into his throat.

After leaving Primrose with his mother he made a B-line for Sootopolis.

There was a casino he wanted to check out.

The endless dumping of coins into the slot machine didn't do much to fill that phantom blade cutting him open and digging him out.

Counting down the hours until Cait started blowing up his phone.

This whole day was bullshit.

Living off the grid was easier when he was a kid.

You could just wander around, set up a camp, make a stew and call it a night.

Now he couldn't close his eyes without thinking about his daughters. It charred him until he was bone dry to face that he was complicit in their suffering by not going home.

Yet here he was, walking the back alleys of Sootopolis without even a target or objective in mind.

Fuck a target, he needed a shower and a stove. Yet with no cash using any cards would leave a trail.

Since he was in Sootopolis, he took out his phone and made a call, doing the unthinkable.

He called in a favor. "Yeah,"

It made the memories jog to hear that voice. "Its me."

"I need your help." He hated the territorial way his words came out. "Where are you?"

He doubled over with his boots half submerged in the sands.

If he let go now, he would blow chunks in the helmet.

It burned more on the way down the second time than the first.

As he took a moment to let his stomach settle he spotted a familiar face going through the all familiar motions of casing a building.

Checking windows, peeking around, etc.

He meant to signal to the other man or at the at the very least get the hell out of dodge but suddenly his drunken footing slipped without him having moved a single muscle.

He flailed his arms around hoping to get his balance back before all hell broke loose.

Hanzo slept a warm and full dream, he dreamed of aspear berries and apples.

Senon, who hadn't slept in days hopped the ledge the to cabin rather than descend the steps.

He was mobile, and given the way he barked at Hanzo not to follow him, "Stay!Hanzo." he was up to no good.

Even a typlosion could frown if it had enough of a reason and watching the tense back and shoulders of his master (and emotional dependent) go trooping off into the night was more than enough of a reason to twist its mouth-curl in a downward tip.

He'd walked this path so many times by now, he didn't need daylight to do it. It was precise positioning to find a place close enough to the cabin that he could get back fast in an emergency (or be found fast in an emergency) and yet also be far enough away that no one at the cabin could hear him.

Which was good because with his sparring partner being in the throws summer fury, things were going to get wild.

It burst from him like it had a life of its own. A cackle so throaty it couldn't register as anything but genuine.

He moved to JD without much fuss, holding up a pointer finger to his now-former employer.

Terminating his contract and mentioning his kid in the same breath was disrespectful as hell. She got one.

She wouldn't get two.

Taking his daughter into his arms he tried his best to make out the papers scattered about, grasping at the slightest written implications of who put Fortree in the comet's path.

Getting kicked burned his ass. He would have flipped the table if it wasn't massive and mounted and likely to throw out his back.

Instead, when Primrose squirmed in the transition from Uncle to Father and settled in again, the furious nerve twisted around his brain stem seemed to dull and ceased its aching.

With a deep inhalation that he held for several seconds as he looked at the faces again, just as intensely as he had when he entered.

Only this time, "It's been a privilege." There was the slightest curl on the end-lines of his lips as he broke away.

His words were equally as genuine as his laugh and expressed with ease, they would be the last words they heard from him before he crossed the exiting threshold and took his leave.

So throwing human lives at the problem was fine but a goddamn sapient tulip was too precious to risk? "I guess I've grown in the last year. But you know something Commissioner." Call him paranoid but he could tell when he was being 'aggressed' upon on.

"You've got a nasty paraphrasing habit." She did it the first meeting; throwing reminders in his face like an annoying alarm he didn't program.

Without the ability to do passive aggression be responded, although, less cleverly.

"If you don't want to get bit, keep your hands out of my mouth."

At Kazimir's input Sénon leaned back into his seat, closing his eyes and opening his ears he took in the words of Hoenn's favorite masked man. His own lack of response spoke his concurrence.
