"Ha. You got me." That magnetic grin began to show through. "I'm not exactly asking you to fall on my sword here." He nodded at Ji-Hoon with a cheeky smirk. "I've got Cait for that."

Jokes aside if Ji-Hoon was a little beat from all his battles Sénon thought better of throwing out Zeraora or Heatran.

Especially when he had a more fitting pokémon still trying to earn her stripes.

Not to mention if there was one turtle pokémon that could have passed as a fairy-type it was this one.

So Ji would likely appreciate the aesthetic.

She stood proud and ready with a smirk that matched her trainers'.

He did go for the hug.

He felt good being back in Hoenn it seemed like he'd been forever given how much everyone had grown.

Of course aside from being back in the region he had an even bigger reason to smile. But Ji-Hoon was Cait's friend foremost and first, he wouldn't spoil that special moment for Cait to share with her homies.

"You look healthy. Zac Ramsay lost weight and you've gained some, good work." He took a squeeze of the smaller man's bicep. "You look just strong enough for a battle, in fact."

The ranger wiped at his nose, sure that Ji-Hoon understood what he was getting at.

The lack of outward ire made him as confused as her Murkrow.

But when she turned away, he was all instinct. Grabbing her wrist firm but without an unpleasant force or squeeze.

He wanted to ask where she had been, why she stared daggers at him the last time she saw him, what happened to her to have changed in this way, why hadn't she tried to find him.

Before he could get any of it out he realized nothing good would come of her answers. If she found peace on her own he was owed no explanation of her growth. Besides that, he had other duties, obligations and promises.

He didn't have the privilege of opening door he knew would only get him in trouble, so perhaps he wasn't all instinct.

So instead he let go of her wrist.

"I'm rooting for you Lulu." It was lame and wasn't much in reference to anything in particular but it was true, from the bottom of his gut.

He turned away, taking a bottle of water with him dumping half of it on Dosé who hopped by his side.

Continuing to walk the shoreline he was approached by a Clobbopus that looked like it wanted to take his lunch money.

Putting its dukes up it waited for the ranger to approach, seemingly a dare for the human and its pokémon to attack.

Briefly remembering a video he saw of a crabs punching the limbs off of other sea creatures.

Or was it some other sea creature punching a crab's arm off?

Either way he decided to gracefully move on.

Not every mission was going to be wrangling and subduing wild pokémon gone wilder.

Sometimes rangers helped with the more common problems.

Like bidoof biting through the ropes holding together the log-rafts the evacuation teams of Pacifidlog kept at the ready in case of emergency.

The little nibblers liked to show up at dawn in droves to take the wood for their own projects so today and trio of rangers would be scaring them away.

Meanwhile the evac teams treated the ropes with a natural repellent.

Sénon turned to his backup before putting in his mouthpiece; "Ready to dive?"

All these hybrid battle formats were getting really intense.

That 'Submerged Triple' was pretty damn cool. What was this?

A... 'Sky Rotation' battle?

How the hell was this going to work? Taking the concept of a Rotation Battle and setting it skybound with a host of aerially inclined pokémon was going to complicate things.

Luckily, he found a good partner for this crazy ass experiment of a battle.

No no no. You ain't done yet.

Sénon had made it so late to this party everyone's fires were winding down when he was he was just getting stoked up.

People were going home, long journeys for some.

But he had an apartment in lower district Slateport. He could battle here until he just about passed out.

Still there weren't many left to take him up on his offers.

Only people he knew seemed to be unable to turn him down. So when he saw Ji-Hoon (Chu-e Choi) he knew he didn't have to go home just yet.

"Hey lover boy! Wait up!" Last he'd heard Ji had a boyfriend now didn't he?

He had one last battle to cap off the memory of the day's events.

-and this one was special.

It had taken some coordinating and asking around to put it together, not to mention getting Cait out of his apartment.

It stabbed him in the heart every time she was so good to him. Always trusting him and being a good sport.

He'd blindfolded her and literally walked her down to the beach with loving words and teasing allusions; just how she liked it. When they arrived, he removed her blindfold...

-and handed her her handbag he'd brought along, knowing she kept a few choice pokémon on her person at all time.

She might not have understood at first but the layout was quite suggestive; a candlelit dinner and battle on the beach against another couple who trained pokémon.

'Couples Battle' sounded bland and 'Lover's Match' was a tad suggestive. So instead he called it a 'Beaus-Belles Battle'

As far as dratini go, having three wasn't anywhere near excessive. He was going to need to acquire some land for all these 'monsters' he was amassing.

He still hadn't caught Cait but his pokémon in total were nothing to scoff at.

The heatran's living needs alone were reason enough to seek seclusion.

Babysaur used SLEEP POWDER!

Pulling back on reflecting on real estate he pulled a Safari Ball from his belt, making good on Baby's swift powdering.

Once Dose found his stride he didn't need to be coached much, good thing because now that VENOSHOCK was in play. Sénon began to watch Lulu, her sudden battle tenacity catching his eye.

If only he (or she) knew how many times they'd actually battled before.

If Lulu pondered it long enough she might remember the night the first night two slept together, the time they kept their clothes on.

He made her steak. She had a concussion.

That was probably why she didn't seem to remember this croagunk from back then. It was just as well, Dosé couldn't remember her either.

She did look like that human with the ugly mangy cat he wanted to punch in the face.

Dosé never forgot a punchable face, unless it was human. All humans kinda looked alike.

That bird, that bird was mad though, maybe not, Dosé wasn't really paying attention.

Dose used SWAGGER!

Waving the bird on, he let the battle and the poisoning drag out, looking to confuse his target.

He liked the laid back vibe of his 'opponent' although there was something familiar about him.

That aside, he had the right idea about battling so Sénon was game, no pun intended.

A wrist flicker tossed and rolled his pokéball into the battle space, the dark-type's fire counterpart.

Looking at the two as fond as he of Flareon (this one was a gift from his wifey cait alfric), there was no denying the aesthetics. "Umbreon are so cool."

The nice thing about having a Kadabra in battle was that it could feed your orders to your team with ultimate discretion.

That came in handy when you had to battle without even talking to your pokémon.

Usually he had to rely on hand and body gestures to communicate non-vocally but the Psi Pokémon on his side bridged that gap perfectly.

On Sénon's orders the pokemon each moved with precision.

D!Shedinja used FURY CUTTER!

The damage of eight FURY CUTTER hit the sharpedo at once freeing the bleeding Kadabra who then used a TELEPORT to position the trio behind the Milotic and behind the Inkay.

Tsukuyomi used TELEPORT!

Dinja used FURY CUTTER!
^{4th use; damage x8!}

The remaining ghostbug cut at the Inkay looking to remove it from the battle in one attack. From the Ranger's calculations it was simple math.

(Bug Damage x 8) x Double Bug-Weakness = 'gotofuckingsleepinkay'.

Sénon didn't recall Fletchinder but rather snapped his fingers signaling for the bird to land his shoulder, not to start digging in the Rangers ear, the FLetchinder did that on his own.

She lost the match but it was uphill for her to begin with and she did manage to keep him at bay for a while. "You've got some talent Giselle Authier." He said her name like he was still trying to remember it.

Because he was.

He was getting familiar with the names of all the rangers he could remember.
"You've also got some growing to do but you're on your way Ranger. Keep up the good work."

A warm blooded creature might have took some notice and empathy with the riolu giving it all he had to stay in the fight.

Seviper was at the height of using her reptile brain which didn't easily hold concepts like compassion or mercy.

Seviper used BELCH!

With little remorse she blasted the pup with another stink bomb from her gut leaving the Riolu to collapse in it.
