Once again Haunter would HEX her opponent sending supernatural energies to flash, flux and jinx the senses of the target dealing damage to the nervous system.

Nothing a pokémon center couldn't ail but the damage it did on pokémon with their resilience already compromised; sleeping, frozen, poisoned, burned, confused or paralyzed, was far more damaging.

Haunter used HEX!

All of them things he accounted for as best he could understand them.

It seemed she didn't at all consider the possibility of her assets being transferred and her obligations being mitigated. The fact that he had the power to do those things wasn't something he could hit her over the head with at once.

Starting the battle focused his mind, ridding him of his distractions.

It was worth noting she was his first opponent was tried to make the battle fair. Without a mandatory system of mutual disclosure of a trainer's choice of pokemon, whoever 'showed theirs first' was at a disadvantage the other trainer usually took advantage of. Lulu hadn't it was worth giving her credit for if nothing else.

Though, the mention of sending out Dosé being an insult didn't make sense to him.

"What do you mean?" He crossed his arms.

Maybe she meant he was insulting her by sending out an un-evolved pokémon but if that was the case...

He nodded to Dose, and Dose made his attack taking the MEAN LOOK, in stride.

Dose used TOXIC!

Dratini were soft and often timid creatures their beauty and grace only became more intense was dragonair and dragonite though not as beautiful nor graceful were still regal and very 'soft spoken' as dragons.

Clobbopus, wherever they came from, Galar apparently, they weren't meaner than Dratini...

They were equally cautious and far more explorative. Where a dratini would swim away from something they were unsure of a clobbopus would just punch it.

Which was why an unsuspecting Babysaur was punched in the face by one thinking he was food. In ire and retaliation Baby covered the water-type in LEECH SEEDs and SLEEP POWDERs until it was non-threat.

He barely had a chance to make his way down before an Arbok slithered up along side him.

He jumped back from the snake pokémon but its reach and lunge were too long.

Weaving through the distance it readied itself to lash out.

Hiei used ZEN HEADBUTT!

Only to be flattened by the hard head of his salamence. It wasn't becoming for a trainer of dragons to surrender to his panic but being necked to death by arbok fangs and crushed under the forcing of its coils wasn't a great way to go.

Luckily, he had back up today.

Crimsen attempted to capture Arbok!

The fact that she didn't shut down the thought outright meant she could be convinced.

What was a life in Hoenn's familiarity when both motherhood was about to make everything so unfamiliar to her anyway. The warm smiles of her friends and allies were just as easy to see over a video call.

She wasn't part of A.Q.U.A. she didn't owe the league any calls of duty. "I got the hotel last night because I wanted you to have an in-town rest after your flight-in." There was no draft they could mandate to will her away from her nesting/resting place. So why not Johto? "Don't forget though, I've got a condo paid for over in Goldenrod." He'd only told her once before, a fleeting detail that had no weight at the time.

"It belonged to my uncle but, its mine now." 'He lost it in a bet' was the real end of that sentence but it was better Cait didn't know that.

His uncle got real sore over mentions to losing his condominium, even if it was to his favorite nephew.

Sénon held the extra kabobs wrapped and bound together by a big leaf in place of plastics. Johto seemed far ahead of the curve in biodegradable solutions and cleaner living.

This whole region was playing Cait's song. How could she not be tempted.

Although from what he'd seen rainy days during the summer were rare. He wound the fiery path once again this time with Jūken by his side.

After last weeks fiasco with Arbok, and that one time with Pyroar last year...

Well lets just say he was making his run cautiously this week.

Jūken's knees buckled a bit and his body trembled as he summoned the strength to make one more attack.

Luckily, he hadn't needed to, the oricorio had already fallen.

Kneeling down the Riolu anchored himself placing his fist to the ground. Silently he bent the knee in respect to his opponent. His sore and tired body was proof of being pushed to the limit.

Sénon was proud of the riolu and grateful to both Jūken, the oricorio and its trainer for such a smooth and paced battle.

"I pay you the same respects. You manage your pokémon well, If it ever comes up, I hope we can battle again someday."

The SLUDGE WAVE slapped Haunter with a thick 'schlock'. Only wiping away enough for her eyes to see she let out a haunting cackle.

She was so lax in her defense he became poisoned!

She loved a good splatter on the unsuspecting and a funny thing happening to her didn't make it any less funny.

Her laughter grew and echoed out as her eyes began to glow with violet tones.

Louder and louder it became until it likely felt like it was coming from inside the tentacruel's own mind.

One of the many ways Haunter applied her trickery to put another pokemon to sleep.

He almost didn't let go when he hugged her for the first time seeing her off that helicopter. He couldn't squeeze too hard but how much he missed her was hard to hide.

"I think they'd have to be." The street vendors here were competitive if this guy was the one here he was the best in the area. "Lets find out."

He bought a kabob tasting it first to check for flavor mostly and poisons a little, which was stupid because Cait was probably immune to poisons.

The thought of it made his mind jump to her worries about being poisoned by whatever killed Bailey Cooper. Just like before however he rejected the notion entirely. "Ithfinkits good." You could count on Sénon to talk with his mouth full if he was eating while standing.

Something about working as a cook.

He gave the remaining the kabob to Cait and bought more for the both of them. "Could you though... move here?"

There was a big secret he was planning on finally sharing with her. Once she learned she might not want to go back to Hoenn.

Here he was thinking he'd set her up for a lose-lose scenario.

Either answer a question she seemingly didn't want to answer, or assault a stranger.

Sénon would have been satisfied with the outcome. Of course since was someone he found interesting it would follow that she did an interesting thing giving herself a third option.

Denying him the satisfaction as she turned to walk away.

He wasn't going to chase her, no did mean no after all. Even if her own lips hadn't said 'no' just yet, her body language sure as hell did.

She was a good sport and that wasn't something you could find in everyone.

Compelled to leave some kind of positive mark aside from not losing to her, he yelled over the growing distance. "I'll apologize the next time I see you!" He watched her make her leave appreciating her fitness and her style.

The FORCE PALM hit as intended but through AGILITY the bird was back on him with another round of PECKing.

His little body ached from the soreness of the pecking and winded strikes but he wasn't finished yet.

Jūken used COUNTER!

Once again the future-Lucario took the attacks it was given in stride to delivering an even stronger returning blow to the opposition.

The engagement drop was something he wasn't sure of why he shared.

Maybe it was because at one the two of them carried a secret for one another. On some level, she had earned some of his trust. Yet in his own mind mentioning his own engagement was some kind of defense mechanism.

An invisible line he drew in the sands.

It was better to blurt it out than to try to hide it. Although 'blurting' wasn't exactly how he shared it, it felt like he had. Cait wasn't someone he wanted to hide, he was someone he wanted to protect.

-and he would. No matter how many awkward moment he'd have to plow through.

When she shifted the conversation to a battle, he affirmed. ". . ." Silently. He affirmed silently.

He'd meant to use his words but she'd gotten all close and his blood was flowing all wrong.

She was distracting. She distracted him.

Sénon was distracted.

His pokéball hit the sands and from it, one of the ranger's prized fighters.

"You heard me." From his pocket he pulled a rolled leaf, filled with leafy clippings and lit it a blaze to consider his own rudeness.

He'd done worse things in this life than make assumptions.

What assumptions? Well that was for him to know and for her to find out.

Or more likely, she'd take the subtle 'mulligan' he'd offered her; slapping his face and making her exit.
