Soup nodded. Meteor Falls had an aesthetic appeal that someone would have to be blind not to notice.

He laughed when Kazimir complimented his Chespin. "Atlas is probably fine," he said, looking at the little Chespin who seemed barely hurt. "He can take a lot more than you might think."

It seemed that the Pokemon of the area were rather aggressive as a rule, as Soup noticed a Ducklett attacking Kazimir too. His Pikachu knocked it out without breaking a sweat, though, so it was no problem.

"I tend to like dragon types, if I had to choose," said Soup, eyeing an Octillery that poked its head out of the water, only to vanish beneath it again. "I like fossil Pokemon, too, but I'm a little reluctant to train them, considering that, you know. They're not always happy with their new environment." He shrugged. "If I could see a fossil Pokemon that didn't have those problems, though, I'd be happy to train them. Do you have any preference?" He remembered Kazimir's Golurk from the dig site, but that was at odds with the Pikachu he had out here.

It seemed, though, like the more aggressive wilderness was ready to make its presence known again. "Watch out!" called Soup as a Drakloak sped towards Kazimir, snarling.

Before the other man replied, Alala began to jangle her scales violently again. Soup flinched. He had even come closer to the guy...

"Alala!" he began to reprimand, only to realize that she wasn't targeting this man anymore, instead staring down a massive Emboar. 

She roared at the newcomer, a noise just as loud as her scales. The Emboar quailed, but didn't stop its advance, rushing at Soup and the other dude, who was occupied with a Ledian. 

Luckily, Alala was more than capable of taking on the Emboar. She swung her arm at it, the Dragon Claw doing severe damage. The Emboar attempted to throw its weight around with a Heat Crash, but it had been intimidated by Alala's previous Noble Roar, and Alala was heavy, too. A few more Dragon Claws sufficed to knock out the huge fire-type.

Soup threw a Pokeball at it, partially to capture it for his own team and partially to shut Alala up, who was roaring and jangling her scales even at the fallen opponent.

"I'm seriously sorry about that," he tried again, facing the other person.

The Toxapex flipped over, but unfazed, it responded with a Venoshock.

Deimos didn't stand a chance, really. The Toxapex's ability, combined with the increased power of Venoshock on poisoned targets and the prior damage Deimos had already sustained, meant that the poor Heracross was nearly knocked out from the attack.

However, he didn't intend to go down without one last hurrah. Roaring, Deimos used the last dregs of his strength to launch himself at the toppled Toxapex, bringing his horn down on her in a Throat Chop before he collapsed, drained.

Whether the Throat Chop managed to do sufficient damage to Valentina or not, however, Deimos was now unable to battle onwards. Soup grabbed his Pokeball and recalled the Heracross, smiling and whispering thanks to Deimos. Victory or not, it had been a spectacular battle, and Deimos had really given his all even against such a powerful opponent.

"You and your Pokemon really are something!" said Soup to Selena, shouting to be heard over the roar of the crowd. "That was a spectacular battle!"

Soup winced. "Let's hope there aren't eggs," he muttered. Not only would that make the mission infinitely harder, it would also mean that they were stealing away the Oricorio's children, which would leave a mark on his conscience. At least they could probably find a safe place to relocate them too, if they succeeded.

He thought over Maverick's offer quickly, because there wasn't time to contemplate. "The Oricorio's already distracted with Achlys," he pointed out. "It'll probably be easier if she leads it away, and you get the nest while it's distracted."

Adonis had joined the fray as well, winging up from the ground where he'd landed to confront the fire-type. The dragon was small, but his ferocity in battle was undiminished, as he spat an Acid Spray at the Oricorio. Soup flinched, thinking that the attack might accidentally hit an egg or the power line itself, but Adonis was precise, only stinging the Oricorio with his attack.

The Oricorio cawed angrily, wings fluttering as it dropped from midair, trying to regain altitude. Achlys was quick to capitalize on the opening, though, striking the Oricorio with a Venoshock.

"Now would be good," Soup called to Maverick. He was fairly confident that his two Pokemon would likely be able to keep down the single Oricorio until the nest was removed.

This wasn't good. Soup had a feeling he would lose the fight, with how little damage the Toxapex sustained from Bullet Seed, even despite Guts factoring in.

But neither he nor Deimos was in the mood to give up, even as Deimos was struck by the Infestation attack, the constant damage whittling away at his health along with the poison from before.

"Flip her while you're close!" yelled Soup, and Deimos roared again. He tried to shove his horn at the water-type and toss her, wrenching his body with the unnatural strength that his species was blessed with, only amplified by the poison.

Soup nodded. It made sense that the city would cut the power to a power line that they knew was being occupied by a nest of birds, but it was best to err on the side of caution.

As they approached, however, they were greeted rudely by a tongue of flame. The Revelation Dance narrowly missed Soup, who swore as he jumped out of the way, dropping Adonis. The Flapple poked his head out of the apple again and hissed, taking flight.

"Alolan is right," confirmed Soup. "That's an Oricorio. This form is a fire type, but you probably know that."

Achlys had already taken wing, flapping up to the level of the nest and screeching at the Oricorio. She began to flap threateningly in the direction of the nest, but they were here to safely relocate the nest and its occupants, not destroy the power line with a battle.

The Oricorio had no such inhibitions, flinging repeated ribbons of flame at Achlys with its graceful dancing. The Crobat dodged swiftly, but she didn't respond with attacks of her own, and she couldn't dodge forever...

It looked like duty didn't wait for anyone, relaxing or not.

"It was nice meeting you, Billi," said Soup, and he meant it. The guy's optimism had grown on him almost immediately. "I hope to meet you again soon!"
