It was the sound that pierced the pain and woke her. It was like thunder rolling between her temples and for a moment she couldn't think. She groaned and opened her eyes, displeased further by the sunlight she could see in the distance.

"Oh will you shut up!" she snapped, pushing herself up into a sitting position, hand going for her head. Whatever had happened did not involve wine, of that she was certain. This did not feel the same as her head normally did after 3 bottles. The rumbling started again and the aching in her head was something fierce. "Arceus do you have to be so loud?"

Those walls were stone. The fact was processed later than it should have been. Stone and sun and- was this grass she was sitting in? Pain turned to perplexed as she stared at what was in front of her. No amount of lady like training gave her an answer for how to respond to this. Except screaming, her father would expect a young lady to scream. Isra chose not to for that very reason, taking a deep breath to focus her scrambled mind instead. Regardless of what had happened she was no longer in the area she had been exploring last and she had definitely not taken herself here.

She looked to the back of the cave, the source of the sound. He hands went for the place her pokeballs should have been at her hip. Whatever was here with her was not her friend. Not in the slightest.

"You've got to be kidding me." all she could focus on was the shaggy white fur.

"tch." tracking things in the snow is a different level of tedious. once the BLIZZARD comes through all tracks are lost to a fresh sheet of snow. it makes finding the assailant impossible. fernando doesn't relent. in any other circumstance, he would relish the challenge. this? this is nothing but a pain in the ass but still needs to be done. to allow irsa to meet her end is second only to being able to apprehend the suspect. that's what fernando cares about; who dares the audacity to bring their hand against silph?

a charizard haphazardly navigates the still winds of a winter morning. the heat of its tail flame licks at fernando's backside as he keep a watch for anything moving below. out in the open, he doesn't suspect much will happen but what he's looking for requires the altitude. a cave, an outlet, anything that could be used as shelter during the turmoil of last night's weather. there's many options and fernando stops by the first one that strikes his vision. a firm tap on its shoulder is a signal to descend and they find themselves fixed at the entrance the abomasnow's nest.

"at the ready."

his command is addressed not only to the charizard but the mimikyu and keckleon that dismount the pokemon as well. they're small and cunning, just the mobile type of pokemon he prefers when spelunking. just the four of them should be fine. anything more and it'll slow their progress. there's no telling that this is the right place.

Sleeping. Be it luck or a curse given who she is the creature was sleeping. She hadn't seen one face to face before but the name was on the top of her tongue. That didn't matter, what mattered was that she didn't know where she was or what was going to happen next. If it woke anything could be the answer, if it slept she could make a gettaway.

That posed troublesome as well. She had no way of knowing what time of day it was and going out in the middle of the day could be just as detrimental to her as staying in this cave with the furry beast. Her pokeballs were not at her hip like she expected. Panic should have been rising but Isra did not comprehend that emotion like most would have. The lack of an obvious defense instead fueled her with rage. Pair that with the aching in her skull and it was not a good mix.

Immediately her hands turned to fists and slammed them into the grass bellow her. "Shit, fuck!" she tried to shake the pain out of them, stupid and like a child she was already headed towards a tantrum as she was inclined to do in situations like this, especially when there was no one there to see her. Undeniably, she was the wrong person to get kidnapped by an Abomasnow and survive.

Even worse was the fact she was most likely on her own. She doubted anyone cared enough to come. She clenched she jaw and pushed up to her feet. Instead of walking away from the source of the sound she walked closer to it. Definitely not the person that should have been kidnapped.

If here was something in the distance she didn't know if it was her nonexistent rescue team or another pokemon. Frankly, she was more consumed with how she was going to go down swinging than being rescued.

funny how things turn out. the further fernando enters the farther isra gets away. she's inadvertently going the wrong way, at least if she's attempting an escape. unlike her, fernando carries himself with an air of caution. it slows him down and he never gets to catch up to her. still, the further he ventures the more clues he picks up that he's int he right place. the tracked in snow, the shedded leaves, and more importantly the random pokeball that's laying around. naturally, he picks it up and when the weight of the ball dictates that its not empty, he can only surmise that it's something someone dropped on the way in. that's enough reason for him to pick up his pace.

he's off in a sprint now, kecleon and mimikyu keeping pace while charizard lags behind. just because time is of the essence doesn't mean that he'll go in blind while making a clamor. silence is the enemy of preparation - he knows the weapon well and refuses to be slain by it.

There is an echo on the cave walls that tells her something else is coming and whatever it be she is soon to be surrounded. Should it be another of whatever beast is in the distance then she is royally screwed without pokemon at her side. She stumbles as the cave floor grows rocky and reaches for her aching skull again. She's thinking too much and clenching her jaw too hard. She breathes. She curses Arceus in her head.

Scanning the floor she looks for something loose that she can pick up, some sort of defense but all the can find are pebbles and pebbles mean nothing. Not that anything else would really help should the pokemon further in be anything of notable size. Still, Isra would take a bat to a Gible if it made her mad enough. It was something her brother used to scold her for.

"Fear is good, it keeps you alive, it helps you not be stupid. Fuck that. Fear was a weakness, if you can't face it head on you don't deserve the chance to face it to begin with.

Furry ignited she picks up the largest of the pebbles. She'll aim for the eyes.

isra's reckless behavior is what sets them off. the resounding echo of the sudden SNOW WARNING is all fernando needs to set the correct pace. the screams of wind against stone tells him that he's still a ways off and his pokemon are allowed to discard their previous caution. if his suspicion is right, whoever's in here has encountered a wild pokemon. if not, then it's just a wild pokemon doing what feral pokemon do best - nothing too difficult to handle.

"charizard, vanguard." with that, the pokemon takes a resounding step and lifts off, taking to the air and propelling itself past both of them while navigating the difficulties of an imposed ceiling. the wind that comes with each flap of charizard's impressive wing span batters against fernando as he struggles to follow. time is of the essence and he ignores the discomfort. the last thing he wants is to make the venture for naught.

and, as always, he was correct in his assumption. his charizard catches up to isra easily, giving off a terrible roar as it launches itself to intercept the wild winds of the BLIZZARD by shielding the lone woman with its very body. despite her spitfire personality, there's very little she can do against the combined might of both abomasnow. trying to fight through the BLIZZARD is a foolhardy idea. she'll freeze before she ever gets a chance to drive the pebble home.

a great fire billows inside the pokemon's heart. the internal INFERNO keeps it warm, radiating as a roasting aura that'll keep her warm despite the sudden change in temperature. with a swing of its long, narrow neck, charizard launches a devastating stream of fire that viciously bites back at the cold winds being put forth by the twin abomasnows.

"positions!"

from behind, fernando appears from further down the hallway along with his mimikyu and kecleon. unable to distinguish who it is from afar, fernando winds his hand back, still holding the pokeball he found before, before tossing it with all his might. like a baseball, the device lurches forward, landing a few meters short of isra and unleashing the pokemon kept inside. he had reasoned that whatever the pokemon was, it would be more willing to listen to her than him, thus his strongest move was reuniting pokemon and trainer, doubling their cohesive strength.

She had no time to react, only to roll with the plan being put in front of her. A hailstorm in such close quarters was well beyond a lone human and even she had to admit that. She was already falling to her knees when her rescue arrived and she moved closer to the charizard, giving him a silent thank you for the warmth against the storm, gently touching the pokemon to acknowledge him. She is vaguely aware of the lobbed pokeball, uncertain of what else is in the distance but feels a moment of delight when the creature that emerges is her own.

Her fingers reach her lips and the whistling is loud and urgent, conveying to the dragon that there is no time for play right now. feisty but obedient the pokemon gets himself into a tizzy, all worked up and ready to go when Isra whistles again and covers her ears. The dragon opens his mouths and lets the cavern carry his hyper voice to the Abomasnow. The sound is deafening within the cavern and much to her continued bad luck, one of the wild pokemon does not seem to mind.

Unable to see the wild one through the charizard she does not see the ice shard it is lobbing while its fellow pokemon is impaired. She motions for her Zweilous to cease his attack, unable to allow it to continue for long in the cavern and hopes the rest of the party can take advantage of the disruption.

the charizard is given no quarter. a tense song of fire and ice keep either party from moving forward. the only difference is that the abomasnow is not alone. the second one is allowed the freedom to add in some ICE SHARDS and it makes all the difference. forget the HYPER VOICE that comes from the other dragon. the ICE SHARDS are enough to fine the gaping hole in charizard's stream of fire, snaking past like weasels, looking to cut into the vulnerable flesh of both dragons. the difference is that charizard feels little at the winter's touch. the same cannot be said for the zweilous.

but the HYPER VOICE has its merits. the great cry from the draconic pokemon is enough to bother one of the abomasnow, evident by the way the BLIZZARD falters as the pokemon tries to clamp onto its ears. charizard suffers the same fate but powers through as the constant sizzle of flames grant it another noise to focus on.

only after the exchange does fernando finally catch up. he's quick to work, not sparing isra even a second before he calls out his commands. "battle routine set." the kecleon and mimikyu disappear. the distance is something they must cross and neither party dares enter the crossfire. "execute." so they resort to SHADOW SNEAK, navigating the faint darkness cast by the many actions between both pokemon. it only takes second for them to close in, unseen, unopposed.

It does not take her long to process that regardless of what exactly was occurring there was more than enough force against the ice types to finish this quickly. The whistle is sharp to even her ears but that is enough to register with the Zweilous who understood well enough. Shifting into position the dragon would go headfirst into the fray- ignoring the array of attacks being tossed between the larger pokemon and dragon rushing the closest abomasnow. Isra knew the pokemon's tantruming way would lead to another use of hyper voice much closer to the wild pokemon now, once again debilitating the one it could affect and leaving the other open to Fernando's pokemon. IT pained her to not have have a more strategic move but the dragon was the only one that never fully listened to her (so of course it would be him Fernando had found). The best she could do was predict his responses and make use of them.

That didn't matter though, she doubted there would be much need for anything more out of her dragon with what the battle must now look like. And frankly if it wound up passed out from an abomasnow attack she didn't much care. The dragon was more a thorn in her side than a help.

raw number is what dictates this battle. unable to contest the approaching shadows, one of the abomasnows will find themselves in quite the BIND. the kecleon materializes and ensnares the brute by the feet, the elastic tongue tightening as the pokemon is held still. it tries to retaliate with a well placed WOOD HAMMER but it's too late. mimikyu is in position and the vulnerability of the ice / grass pokemon becomes alarming apparent when mimikyu plays the COPYCAT and delivers a close range INFERNO. the wild shrieks of the pokemon almost compare to zweilous's HYPER VOICE but that becomes overshadowed by the loud crackles of burning flesh. without both abomasnows able to work in conjunction, the resistance they have against charizard's attack falters and the ranged INFERNO goes uncontested.

isra's zweilous is the perfect decoy to allow the charizard to close in, sandwiching the unfortunate dragon as it lays another volley of intense, red flames. the INFERNO doesn't match the doppleganger's attack, on merit of distance and the interference of zweilous's body, but it does the job. when the attack hits the dragon pokemon the FLAME BURST spreads, a conflagration that spreads as both grass pokemon light up in flames.

his kecleon finally lets go, suffering minor burns but steeling itself as the COLOR CHANGE helps mitigate some of the raw damage the attack would've delivered by extension of being exposed to the flames. from there, the rest of the battle goes downhill as attacks batter both BURNED pokemon.

"are you okay?"

fernando cares little about the battle results, being able to set up was enough to secure his victory. instead, his concern lies on isra, who by all accounts is proving to be more of a pain in the ass then actual assistance. a spare pokeball fills his hand but his thought are on how to work her hard enough to make up for having to come find her. a variety of thoughts come to mind but none are practical. how stressful.

he needs a release.

She couldn't care less what Fernando is saying. Despite how she despises the unruly zweilous there is something special about him that the man could not begin to understand. The barrage he is suffering is expected but that does not mean Isra seeks to prolong it any more than she ever has. Such sacrifices are a game that the two of them have played for a lifetime already.

Isra is already up and seeking the previously thrown pokeball and ignores him until it is in her hands and a finger is pressing the button to return her dragon to his place. It does not matter what damage he has suffered in the mean time as she is certain he will survive without a problem. He has been through worse. It is only when he is safe and the pokeball sits in her hands that she turns to the man that has been her rescuer. She should be thanking him but her tongue is not feathered and soft like a woman's should be. It is quite the opposite.

"Fuck no! I feel like my head should be bleeding there's fucking fatass giant pokemon attacking and now it's kind of getting fucking hot in here because you're trying to set everything on fire."

she would say thank you later when she was no longer pissed that the situation had happened to begin with.

"Not to mention! I don't have any other pokemon but this asshat and I swear if it is daylight out there I am going to scream."

the look in her eyes when she looks up at him is pure fury, but it is not at him. Isra is rarely mad at anything in particular, no, she's furious with the world.

"oh."

her frustration is understandable but that doesn't mean fernando will accept it. he will not bend nor tolerate this type of insolence. not without releasing his irritation in some shape or form. so, he opts for the most tactful: sarcasm. "you're welcome," he answers with a deadpan expression. both abomasnow end up disappearing, sucked into two empty capsules that find a spot among the empty crevices of fernando's outfit.

"your pokemon are probably further in or scattered about. that's how i found your first one."

he omits telling her the time of day. by then, she'll hopefully be on her own and him out of earshot. at least he hopes so.

"Oh go fuck a cacnea." is all she has to say in response to his sarcasm. She knows she should be thanking him but he's the one who made the mistake of asking if she was 'okay' instead of asking for thanks. "Like you'd be in a good mood if the positions where swapped."

She whistles something low as she walks away, it's a command she does not use often. The hope is to draw her pokemon out of their balls to make them more easily found than simply seeking some sort of red splotch but she doesn't make it far before the lack of one specific answer starts to eat at her. It's important.

"Seriously though, is it daylight?" she half turns to him, glancing over her shoulder. The look on her face has changed to something of much deeper concern. If it is... her choices are slim.

>>nah I don't think she wants one at this point.

"is that what got you into that kind of mood? too prickly?" bickering is best done in tandem and fernando's had enough of her shit by this point. there's no backing down from the retort. he's too prideful and far from sympathetic. not at this point. "i wouldn't be in this position," is another deft counter remark, one that comes out all too naturally, spoken from the heart.

fernando doesn't bother recalling his own pokemon. they're out for a reason and will stay as such until long after he's returned to civilization. all he awaits for now is to watch her struggle with escaping the snow or have her beg for a mount. neither seems likely with her access to a dragon but you never know.

"it is," is the only straight forward answer he'll give her.
