Shred Zeppelin was absolutely right. That was such generic advice to get on how to win a woman's heart. It was shit advice. Shit advice the other man already knew.[break][break]

But you see, there were some factors that Shred was not aware of:[break][break]

1) Tempest was so gay it hurt. He had never looked at a woman with any hint of interest.[break][break]

(To be fair, Shred probably could guess that one.)[break][break]

2) Tempest had won Cillian Quinn's heart with a combination of doggish persistence and being willing to suck dick for sport. That probably wouldn't work with Lulu Flint. She didn't have the correct anatomy for it.[break][break]

Then Shred screams, and Tempest knits his brows at the other.[break][break]

"Huh."[break][break]

Out of habit, Tempest tries to stand up to help Shred. He realizes what he's done as soon as he's half way standing, squeaking like a mouse before collapsing out of the chair and onto his side.[break][break]

"AH, FUCK."[break][break]

Then the frustrated nurses rush back in.

Then Cillian Quinn is brought into it. For a moment, Tempest's face goes carefully blank. He regards the woman across from him almost coldly, the sudden shift in mood icy. After a moment, though, he relaxes; whatever he had found in her serpent's smile or hidden between her words not rising anymore ire. Warmer, again, but his face is serious.[break][break]

"No, Cillian won't be joining us. I'd rather not risk damaging his powers unless forced."[break][break]

It hangs in the air for a moment. Brown eyes drift away from her for a moment, brows knitting in thought, before they raise back up to meet Calpurnia's again. Leaning in, he lowers his voice a bit. Even in the relative privacy they're in, it's clear these words are just for her. After a moment's hesitation, Tempest speaks.[break][break]

"I fear Avatarship may be hurting him."

The Bullet Punch slams into the Lapras with considerable force. There isn't much she can do to prevent it; she is a creature meant for the sea, her large and heavy body doing little on the packed sand. A bruise starts to form where she was hit, making it whimper in pain briefly.[break][break]

She hasn't fallen yet, though, and raises her voice high to sing out a Perish Song. It is as eerie as it beautiful, a crescendo of doom that sits on all of their shoulders.[break][break]

Tempest waves Tiamat off. The serpent seems far less interested in the battle taking place before her and in Michael Navidson himself, sliding over to coil around and close (but still not touch) the frog pokemon. She cocks her head to the side, unblinking eyes peering at Hattori.[break][break]

Tempest glances over at the frog, catching it's eye, and something sours in his stomach.[break][break]

"Lopez was a good man. He deserved to die like a hero." Tempest wasn't there. He doesn't know the hard details of what happened to kyle lopez. His words probably do little to comfort the living, breathing man in front of him.[break][break]

"You know this won't bring him back."

A bit of rubble shifts under Tempest's foot, causing him to trip. It's not actually loose rocks- but a Pupitar that is bothered it was disturbed.[break][break]

Tempest groans and pushes himself to his feet, rubbing his sore knee from the hard fall. The gloves on his hands protected them from scrapes, but the bruising would be annoying to deal with later.[break][break]

The Pupitar hisses and Leers at Tempest and hops towards him menacingly. It stops, slammed out of the way by a Razor Shell. Wonton fizzes angry bubbles from her mouth as she skittered closer to her Trainer.[break][break]

"Thanks, Wonton."

The Sandstorm whirled harder, making Tempest curse lightly under his breath. Sharp Spikes from something else in the Safari stuck to his shirt and pants, digging in. That would hurt if they dug much deeper.[break][break]

A Lileep clung resolutely to the ground, latched tight. Temp did perk up when he saw it; this is what he had even come in here for.[break][break]

"Tiamat! That's the one! We can leave after this!"[break][break]

A Dragon Breath leaves the Milotic instantly, burning blue flames through the storm. It scorches the Lileep, which Tempest quickly tosses a pokeball at.

"I've been prototyping a serum with our scientists. Calpurnia Kubrick and Amor Rose have played a big part in it's development." A serum that, as of yet, hadn't yielded any success. But Tempest felt like he was so close...[break][break]

declan walsh's next statement causes him to pause. Tempest knits his brows, head tilting like a curious dog as he stares at Declan in open confusion.[break][break]

"Why would we use it on you? Unless you intend to betray Rocket...?"[break][break]

The question trails off, Tempest shaking his head as he says it. Like it's some ridiculous statement to even put into the air. Something so far fetched that no one would even think of it.[break][break]

A true, unflappable, loyal Rocket.

Yet the Kanto Veteran and the man who could sign his death on a whim inspires no fear. Only a shining hunger, as if Tempest wants to open up the other's chest and sort through his organs. To see what treasures are hidden in the rope of Walsh's intestines, what pretty jewels could be cracked from his skull.[break][break]

A curiosity as harsh as it is kind.[break][break]

As Adrian Malcolm stripped, so did Tempest. Shirt and shorts were pulled off to reveal the wetsuit underneath. Tempest had been ready for this, clearly. He glanced at the other with some curiosity before tilting his head to the side to think.[break][break]

"Hmm... I think so. It might be a bit tight, but it should fit." Squatting down, a little flap was pulled up on the floor of the ship. It wasn't anything impressive inside, just spare storage, but a box inside had a few spare suits. This one was black with jagged red stripe down both the sides. Tempest offered it to the other with a smile.[break][break]

"It'll be a quick dip in and out. We just need to make sure no pokemon burrowed inside and take inventory of the junk we find inside. The person who owned it was one of those doomsday prepper fuckers. A few guns, but a fuckload of food and other goodies we can use."[break][break]

As he spoke, Tempest made his way to the edge of the boat. Sitting on it, he gave Adrian a thumbs up before tilting backwards off the boat. There was a loud 'splash!' as the man submerged.[break][break]

When Adrian would hop in, it would be in front of Marina's teeth. The Sharpedo was huge, one bite surely enough to take out either of the men in the water. But she only stared at Adrian with her beady black eyes and 'breathed' hot water in his face, not moving towards him. Well trained it seemed.

Comms crackle in his ear. The gunpowder and lead they'd been smuggling was almost unloaded and ready to cart off to Sootopolis. It's more frustration that bites into Tempest when he hears the violence. A dark knight roused by duty, he pushes roughly past a poor Grunt from the cavern mouth.[break][break]

'Fuck' is mouthed under his breath when he sees him.[break][break]

A sneer is all Tempest answers Michael Navidson with. It's followed by the motion of him clicking his comms, a stern and clear "Evac." growled into the mic. The lines closes again. Tempest glances over at Hattori with one of his and narrows his eyes. Two Dive balls are plucked from his hip, a pair of shiny pokemon unleashed on the thin water and sand of the inlet.[break][break]

The Milotic coils around Tempest protectively, eyes not leaving Hattori. Her hypnotizing Attract trying to work on the small frog. The Lapras twitches and sings in place, a heavy boulder between the two men; the Rain Dance already making the weather turn sour.

Brown eyes flick back to Navy, some frustration melting away as Tempest cocks his head to the side. Brows furrowing lightly, he purses his lips and shakes his head.[break][break]

"Why the fuck are you out here, Navy? You look like shit."

There is a shifting of paperwork as Tempest picks through his notes, his own messy scrawl staring back at him.[break][break]

"Thanks for agreeing to this! I'm sure with all the little reports that I've been sending to you, you know what this is about. I'd just like to ask you a few questions about your Avatarship and have you demonstrate a few things for me."

The swelling late spring, early summer heat radiated extra strongly on Mt. Chimney. The ash and soot on the ground from the recent eruption type event was evident.[break][break]

Tempest kicked over a cairn of rocks as he passed them, scowling as he peered at the destruction. Sweat clung heavy on the back of his neck. There wasn't any breeze here, the air stifling.[break][break]

Glancing at the Kingler scuttling sluggishly beside him, he hummed and shoot his head. An Arena Trap from some desperate pokemon was stepped around.[break][break]

"Let me know if something happens before you steam for real, Wonton."

Cillian Quinn works in the medicine, Tempest works in the food. A box of canned veggies is stacked next to canned fruits and potted meats and hard tack bread. None of it would taste good. Taste would be the least of their worries when the war effort started and everything came to pass.[break][break]

"Really? You didn't have more time before?"[break][break]

Curiosity colors his tone, head tilted slightly for Cillian to continue when the question is posed. It made sense in Tempest's mind to ask; the assault on Kanto had been a surprise. He would have assumed that Rocket had months, years even, to hoard supplies before the big shebang.[break][break]

... at the same time, many of the stories that Tempest had gotten from that time (like pulled teeth, every time) had seemed unstable.
